Magic Mouse (MacMost Now 309)

Hi all, I went to the Apple Store today to take a look at the new iMac 27 (equipped with the magic mouse). OK, I thought the mighty mouse couldn't be improved. I WAS WRONG. The magic mouse is a work of art and feels as beautiful as it looks. It quickly senses a two vs one finger touch for scrolls. It works flawlessly. I tried and failed in trying to trick it.

I really like your review in that you show no bias. You constructively show the good, bad, and potential of these products, in this case the mouse.

I liked the mighty mouse until it didn't scroll then I binned it for a Logitech. No problems but I do like the Apple style too.

i tried it out at the apple store. i like it a lot. really bummed that there's no expose button, i use that feature a lot. hopefully they will add that later in an update or something. can't wait for this!

I love the flat style of the Apple mice, there is something about a clunky, curvy mouse that just bothers me.

i had a mighty mouse but it always felt awkward, nothing beats the multi-touch trackpad imo.

Yeah i ordered it, but i do hope they write better custom code for it. They had to rename the Mighty Mouse, now it's just Apple mouse due to legal issues with the old cartoon character i think.

I suppose a quick fix for the loss of the scroll ball click, and side pinch would be offering universal second button r/l click commands for launching expose, or dashboard.

I send Apple some ideas on 2 finger combos for zoom and swiping that would be more futuristic in my opinion.

I love the mighty mouse. I find it hard to believe that it can be improved. I will make a trip to the Apple Store to check it out.

I like that mouse, the only thing is that it's too small for the gestures but other than that it's a great mouse. I got used to it quickly, it's very easy to use anyway meaning getting used to the two finger gestures.

I do hope they expand more features. Like a two fingered double tap for expose. By the demo section you see that there's more space to add more features. Apple has to think about productivity and not limit the MM for simple web surfing. Scrolling is great though:)

The one thing i hated about the mighty mouse was that the part about dust getting into the scroll ball, then not being able to scroll.

This has been solved. I can't wait to buy the magic mouse!

lol. try cleaning it by using a slightly damp microfiber. Just lay the microfiber on a table, turn your mouse upside down and roll the scrollball along the cloth

if its really dirty you mighty have to press quite hard

I would not buy it. The mac mouse is the only item Macs sells that I don't care for. No mouse/soup for me! :-)

no, buy it on the website, you dont have to 'be' a student, just say that ur buying it 'for' a student. If you buy it on the website you dont have to say anywhere that ur a student but you still pay less...no brainer!
