hey fruchtzwern what rock have you been under the 60,,s were the greast,t time for music. Also do get a bar of soap and useit to clean you mouth. You must like that filithy scicking rap jungle noise and hhick music
@Fruchtzwerg3006 Watched it. Gave it a chance. No thank you. This is music. I can't honestly say that "klaus Nomi" version was music. I do like different types of music. Just not that type.
Great song! Love how this song was souped up a bit to fit the music styles of 1974. Lou Christie is a great performer. Great background singers and band as well. This is my all-time favorite video of Lou Christie performing this song. Thanks for uploading this video. I love it!
I listened to an interview with him, he said that he and his sister recorded everything in his basement...His sister and him sang all the vocals and played all the instruments...Pretty impressive if true..
Love Lou- if he is gay , so what!! I guess the girls wont' get him , yeah? Goodness folks, this was a wonderful song way back and even today - whowzee !
Been around since this was a hit and I have listened to this song many times. I have loved this tune. But LowBid86 is correct "those girls are saying Fuck me Ah-ooo"... Were they right? Was this early rock and roll the Devils music? hmmm!
@rickw1100 Gimme a break! Listen to what he is singing and know the meaning of sensual subtle and sweet straight sexuality! The chicks were crawling all over him in the 60's and early 70's. Just because he can act sweet and has a flawless falsetto he can turn on and off (natural talent), doesn't mean he is gay.
@rickw1100 wow, i'm actually surprised. that's too bad---but then again i didn't even exist in the '60s so it's not like i'd have a chance with him anyway :P...
Respond to this video... happy birthday today Lou Christie and congratulations on this also being Lightnin` strikes 45th anniversary 1966-2011 Love U Lou
That reminds me! What am I going to fix for dinner. The only thing in the fridge is this large sausage and a couple of large hard boiled eggs. I guess I will warm them up and eat those and then wash it down with a large cup of hot coffee with lots and lots of cream.........
@asulca593 He would have to, as his falsetto - being the nasal kind in this section - will be much louder than his lower register. So he's making it not so loud, by pulling away from the mic. Also because it's not a very nice tone if you hear it up close ... so he has to pull back a bit to soften it in the mix :)
I never get tired of watchng/listening to my favorite video by this star of stars, charismatic, sexy, humble, blessed and an Angel in my eyes. Love you Lou Christie.
@Mgarguemare .....I'm hoping you're still watching this video....because it is still my favorite! Lou is just soooo, well, sooo exciting in this video!
Yes Lou, my favorite 70s bad boy look, jeans, a denim jacket, boots, Only you and "The Boss" Bruce Springsteen can pull that off. How about You, me and a big bad-ass Harley riding away...under the moonlight :)
I agree this is probable one of his best live performances ever--he sounds fantastic, a great voice, a great singer. I think the back up musicians can't or won't play together. They sound really sloppy to me. Or the mix is really bad or something. It seems like the back up singers and Lou C. are the only ones who can actually hear each other.
I especially love this song of his--- one of the few 7 inch vinyls I still have from my childhood and will keep forever.
My favorite video of Lou actually movin', singing, did I mention movin' I want to be the microphone. I was glued to my television set every Friday night just to watch the Midnight Special and got to watch this hunk of a Italian Stallion.
I never heard this song until I played it on a jukebox in a San Francisco dive bar on Fillmore around 1990. I have liked it since, and this performance is better than the original recording.
Your jaw will drop when you see Lou walk on stage, You won't take your eyes off him. This guy should be in the R R Hall of Fame. NOW Free coffee at the Truck Stop!!!
Just saw Lou perform this song live on 3/2/10. His voice was amazing!! He recently turned 67! Everyones jaws were hitting the floor! Also, he did the song 'Never My Love'. Fantastic it was!
after finding this incredible piece of falsetto mastery on cassette my brother told me it was here. we used to cycle around town with a radio going berserk whenever we heard it. we both still go berserk so don't let anyone else try this song..
