Johnny Harra will be missed! From my understanding the Family needs help with the burial expenses. Johnny, at one time was a millionaire singing in Vegas. always loved Johnny's performances. He will be missed. Someone asked why his face was not shown in THIS IS ELVIS. Director and estate did not want people to think Elvis Death was faked. Yes. He looked that much like him then. It was spooky sometimes.
I spoke with Johnny by phone in December. He was happy, in a great mood. He sung a verse of "Darling Save The Last Dance For Me" .. I told him it was beautiful and it was.

Well guys and girls i know Mr.Harra alot longer than most of you,i was around him for 14 yrs.and he was the greatest Elvis Impersonator ever and i have seen a few more in my time but nothing like Johnny Harra.There are a few close enough but not many and the only other one would be Johnny Lovett he was another one that was great.But elvis is still the king and always will be.
I watched Johnny perform in Las Vegas long ago. I also had an opportunity to talk with him on a movie set where I was working in Burbank and he was asking some questions about the business. He was nice, sincere and he just happens to sound and look like Elvis all the time. He makes no conscious effort to be Elvis other than onstage, but offstage he is the same as far as his vocal sound. He just sounds and looks like Elvis.
Harra was good 30 years ago but during that time there was another guy who sounded good too. His name was Dale Culbertson. He's the guy in those pictures you see that claim the name Larry Blong.
I''ve seen several E.T.A some better and some worse, but as they go harra's show is fairly decent. OK so he doesn't look as good as he did 25 years ago. so what? who does?

I saw Harra in a concert about the time of This Is Elvis. I'm sure he is a 'nice guy' and all, but truthfully, his singing voice was flat as a board. Listen to "Save the last Dance..." on youtube- he is so out of breath he can't start or complete a phrase on time.
I have seen them all- Klush,Churc,Pelton,Wilcox-you name it- but for overall Elvisness, I'll take a Rick Saucedo show any day of the week. He sounds great, knows how to work a crowd, and yes, he was doin' it when Elvis was alive.

They had to make a retraction the next day. I used to go see Johnny at Saturdays and made an Elvis portrait cake for him. It was a fun time. Actually more fun than the real Elvis concert, simply because I had much better seats at the club, usually the first row.

Shawn Klush,the greatest,& GRACELAND told us what it is worth to be the worlds greatest Elvis-$5,000.Yep, for a lifetimes work.Shawn should have gotten a MILLION and a tour with Elvis' band.Too bad we now know what a lifetime of working as a tribute artist is worth....just $5,000. I'm sure this is not news, but today, the best is Shawn Klush. No ETA even comes close to capturing the movement of Elvis on stage. He simply "gets it."
I know its all a matter of taste...but the best elvis impersonator was Pete Wilcox, hands down. He did the voice of Elvis on Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. And was in many tv shows as Elvis...ER (twice) Designing Women, Hogan Family, Alf, Full House Cheers, Renegade, Sledgehammer,Murphy Brown,plus many others, as well as the first Elvis in Legends in Concert in Vegas.
Great to see JH again! Met him and saw him play the Silverbird (and others) in Vegas in 1978. When he walked through the casino, people just about mobbed him. Hope he's well...he was great in his day...just after Elvis' death.
He was the best I have ever seen or heard. I also saw him in Las Vegas in the 1970s during his Silverbird and Mint Hotel and International ( downtown International, not the one where Elvis appeared ) appearances. I talked with him in Burbank at Burbank Studios one time. He was very much like Elvis in a natural way.
Johnny Harra is the bomb!!! He played Elvis in the famous movie THIS IS ELVIS. Johnny is in it at, the very beginning, he was one of the very few aloud to walk upstairs in graceland and enter Elvis Presleys bedroom. The footage of Elvis' room in this movie, were the last and only time shown to the public. Elvis' bathroom is also shown in the movie, THIS IS ELVIS.
I first saw Johnny at The Mint Hotel in Las Vegas, then The Holiday International ( Downtown Las Vegas ). I am a big fan of Elvis and Johnny was the best I have seen at being Elvis. He did not try to imitate Elvis. He just was very much like Elvis. I had a chance to talk with him in California. He was nice.

I don't think shawn klush is thaat good, I see him overrated acually.
Martin fontaine is looking like elvis 99% from 50-60's but the singing is not close to elvis voice.
Rio elvis is the best singer of elvis in 70's you be amazed to hear him sing! sometiems the lyrics gets wrong. he doesn't look like elvis though.
Doug church has a good voice but singing could get better, he don't look that much like elvis.

Shawn Klush,the greatest,& GRACELAND told us what it is worth to be the worlds greatest Elvis-$5,000.Yep, for a lifetimes work.Shawn should have gotten a MILLION and a tour with Elvis' band.Too bad we now know what a lifetime of working as a tribute artist is worth....just $5,000. SHAWN deserves the MILLION and the tour.I really like Johnny Harrah-have followed his career for 30 years.

I'm sure this is not news, but today, the best is Shawn Klush. No ETA even comes close to capturing the movement of Elvis on stage. He simply "gets it."

I know its all a matter of taste...but the best elvis impersonator was Pete Wilcox, hands down. He did the voice of Elvis on Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. And was in many tv shows as Elvis...ER (twice) Designing Women, Hogan Family, Alf, Full House Cheers, Renegade, Sledgehammer,Murphy Brown,plus many others, as well as the first Elvis in Legends in Concert in Vegas.

Great to see JH again! Met him and saw him play the Silverbird (and others) in Vegas in 1978. When he walked through the casino, people just about mobbed him. Hope he's well...he was great in his day...just after Elvis' death.

He was the best I have ever seen or heard. I also saw him in Las Vegas in the 1970s during his Silverbird and Mint Hotel and International ( downtown International, not the one where Elvis appeared ) appearances. I talked with him in Burbank at Burbank Studios one time. He was very much like Elvis in a natural way.

Johnny Harra is the bomb!!! He played Elvis in the famous movie THIS IS ELVIS. Johnny is in it at, the very beginning, he was one of the very few aloud to walk upstairs in graceland and enter Elvis Presleys bedroom. The footage of Elvis' room in this movie, were the last and only time shown to the public. Elvis' bathroom is also shown in the movie, THIS IS ELVIS.

I first saw Johnny at The Mint Hotel in Las Vegas, then The Holiday International ( Downtown Las Vegas ). I am a big fan of Elvis and Johnny was the best I have seen at being Elvis. He did not try to imitate Elvis. He just was very much like Elvis. I had a chance to talk with him in California. He was nice.
