  • marty friedman has better hair than me and i'm a female!!

  • @theycalledmebob Go To Hell was made in 91 for the movie Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey and wasn't on an album till 95's Hidden Treasures

  • wait i dont get it, if this vid is from 92 how come Go to Hell is in there?

  • I can't wait for David Ellefson's autobiography to come out ! he has already confirmed it he said that he was in the process of writing it when there was a chat with him in the Megadeth fanclub a month or so ago

  • @TheM3TaLMeTaLLiCa dude, that'd be sick. Mustaine's was great, Junior's would be awesome!

  • Their message really rings true for me, personally. I recently partied my nuts off and ended up drinking way over the amount that can kill someone. I had no idea until afterwards... HUGE wake up call. Not touching that again.

  • @Wrathmont313 ya, right.

  • cool interview - thanks for sharing

  • 4:20 best thing I ever heard from a musician. I'll take that leaf from Ellefsons book.

  • Now I lay me down to sleep..BLA BLA BLA my soul to keep...:D

  • I love how you nothing players that nobody has ever heard or will hear like to say that Megadeth has not had a great guitar player since Marty left(fired)whatever,if you play in MEGADETH you are a GREAT guitar player PERIOD!!!!fucking morons!and Chris is a bad mofo!MEGARULES!!!

  • song at 4:00 ?

  • @Ridethelightnin69 Skin O My Teeth

  • yea lars even told kirk to copy daves shit

  • @MrPaintballfreak13 where did you hear that...i agree...but was that in some interview...sounds like hearsay to me

  • 3:10 i'd go to church every week if he was the priest

  • @ mikem376 actually yes he was and no need to call anyone a dumbass dude. Dave wrote a lot of riffs and solos on that album dude and it doesn't matter what you say. Even Metallica admitted that they used his music dude. Do your research b4 calling people names and making yourself look ignorant.

  • @jerk618 -couldn't agree more Mustaine was officially listed as a composer for 5 kill em alls (the best ones - horsemen and phantom lord) as well as 2 rtl songs (ride and call of kutlu)

  • Sucks that Nick and Marty aren't in the band anymore.

  • @JudasPriest82 What about Gar or Chris POLAND they deserve more recognition...

  • Well ya but they good for more of the early stuff

  • Okay.. Go to Hell is from Hidden Treasures..

  • i was waiting for the go to hell video DAVE AND MEGADETH ROCK !!

  • DAVE MOUSTACHE!!!

  • MEGADETH = ENDGAME (5 stars)

metallica? = death pathetic (1 star)

  • you couldn't be more right : )

  • @rifanasa I like both bands and don't prefer one over the other but endgame really is a better album.

  • The first song is "Electric Crown" by Testament if anyone was wondering... lol

  • yep such a sick song.

  • they spelled Dave Mustaine name wrong

  • It's funny hearing Mustaine talk, you can tell he just got in A.A.. He was using all these sayings that are typical A.A. sayings no matter what meeting you go to anywhere in America. I think it's great that Dave is sober.....we need his presence on this earth.

  • y do ppl always have bring up metallica vs megadeth get a god damm life u pricks and shut up just listen to there music and if u don't like it listen to something else

  • Agreed.

  • It's not a suprise that Metallica ripped Mustaine off.

Just listen to the new album Death Magnetic, the song "The End Of The Line".

One of those riffs is a complete rip off from Megadeth's song When, off The World Needs A Hero.

  • I suggest you listen to The Call of Ktulu on Ride the Lighting, the song is almost just like When. It's Dave Mustaines riff..

  • yea, metallica ripped of dave. get a life

  • yea, Metallica needs to rip off a band that is not nearly as successful. im just sure of it. are you aware that there are only 12 notes and then they repeat? its impossible to NOT have a riff here and there that sounds like someone elses riff

  • @theeternalidol which was a rip off of the covered version of am I evil by metallica

  • They spelled Dave's name wrong and wrote trash metal...WHAT THE HELL?!?!

  • holy shit is that dave? 0.o

  • Ur all fuckin dumb regardless of what year the two albums came out dave said when they first got together round 81 dave wanted to involve a childeren's prayer in one of the songs so if neone gets credit its dave. and if u watch a year and a half with metallica james explains a little bit so read up faggots

  • It has been Dave's idea to write a song about a child's prayer even before being in Metallica.

  • If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times: Megadeth recorded "Go to Hell" in 1990.

Metallica recorded "Enter Sandman" in 1991.

    It's not that hard, people.

They were released in the same year (1991), most likely completely unaware of the other.

  • lol he looks like john lennon

  • GRANPA DAVE AT 1:11

  • HAHAHAHA he has a beard!

  • yeah sure dave you were sober since 95 :p

  • wats the song at 3:04??????????plzzzzz help a brotha out [=

  • Go to Hell

(thats the name of the song, im not insulting you. haha)

  • Lol

  • ha ha super follow up to the comment :-P

  • Wow i think i know what is it

A cover form "Enter the Sandman by Metallica"

That is very strange but yeah it sounds like it

  • No its"go to hell"by megadeth

and dont think they copied metallica, cuz it came out in the same year.

    MEGADETH KILLS

  • Rust in peace came out about a month before the black album ;)

  • No it didn't dipshit

  • Well if you know how to count, it did.

  • Lets see,

    Rust in Peace: 9/25/1990

    Black Album: 8/13/1991

    Yeah youre an idiot.

  • yea but that sentence is from Enter Sandam of Metallica is that a parody to metallica's song?

  • NOOOOOOOO

    dude,thats a childrens prayer,ok

    metallica didnt make that up

and rust in peace came out before the black album

so it would be metallica doing a parody of them

    and its "go to hell"-megadeth

  • i know that but that's weird.

  • I didnt come from rust and peace it came from hidden treasures

  • this song is not from rust in peace. its from countdown, which i believe came out in 92.

  • It was an extra song that didnt fit in the track.

    But ill tell you this.

Megadeth first realesed that song in june/1991

1 month before the black album.

It was released on a movie called something and teds bogus journey in june.

If anything..Metallica stole it from him..although it wouldnt be surprised cuz kill em all is daves album.yet they still used it.

  • well im pretty sure metallica wrote the song before that. so its a really weird thing

  • No I agree with

    MetalMusicProvider

i mean really man metalica steal a bunch of dave;s songs from a he was in metalica

  • No dumbfuck...no.

Dave wasnt even responsible for the majority of the songs on Kill em all.

  • electric crown in the beggining of the vid

  • If you buy the Korean version of Countdown to Extinction on vinyl, it comes with a two page booklet that details the period the album was released in and some interesting facts (it helps if you have a Korean translator of course).

    Here are some facts...

Psychotron was partially inspired by something Dave read about the Russian CIA's (KGB) attempt to create the ultimate fighter.

This was my Life is a sequel to In my Darkest Hour.

Sweating Bullets was an attempt to do something more funkier.

  • The Korean vinyl release of Rust in Peace is strange in that three songs were removed (Holy Wars...the Punishment Due, Take No Prisoners and Poison was the Cure) in exchange for four songs from the previous album (Into the Lungs of Hell, Hook in Mouth, Anarchy in the U.K. and Mary Jane).

This was done to improve the sales of the previous album and so that people in Korea would buy the American import of Rust in Peace (similar to why people buy Japanese versions of albums to get extra songs).

  • The Korean release of RIP also comes with a sheet describing the history of the album and some cool facts:

The album was released in Korea on the 19th April, 1991 because the company who released it (EMI) also owned Iron Maiden and they didn't want both RIP and Iron Maiden's '90 album (No Prayer for the Dying) to be released at the same time in Korea for the sake of avoiding sales clashes (in order to achieve maximum sales potential).

Hence why RIP was released 6 months after NPFTD in Korea.

  • Other cool facts featured on the Korean sleeve of RIP...

For the final track, DM thought about changing the title to either Lust in Peace or Last in Peace before settling on RIP...Polaris.

Since EMI were keen to have Megadeth promoted as equally as Iron Maiden, references to them are abundant - comparing their mascots plus giving the impression that, for RIP, DM was inspired by the epic lyrical range of Piece of Mind, the pace of Number of the Beast and the live energy of Live After Death.

  • Hey,, I have the Piece of Mind album on a picture disc album (vinyl) that was audiophile & I framed it & put it on the wall. I only actually played it 3 times. I wonder how many of them exist?

  • I think, since CTE was an attempt to streamline their sound like Met's, MD should have followed suit by releasing the album on a double-vinyl format.

The reason for this being that part of the impact of Met's black album was that by spreading the material across two vinyls, there was a stronger level of high fidelity that captured Met's live energy.

In Met's case, not only was it about simplifying the song structures but also making the bass and drums more powerful (like Crue's Dr. Feelgood).

  • Skin o' my Teeth reminds me of Liar. I've read a review that also noted the similarities in pace between the two songs. Liar sounds more edgier but Skin has a more light-hearted tone to it.

With the obvious exception of Rust in Peace, my favorite Megadeth songs of the early '90s are Go to Hell, 99 Ways to Die and Breakpoint.

If Psychotron was replaced by Breakpoint and if Go To Hell was the final song (rounding it off to 12 songs altogether like Youthanasia) then it would have done better.

  • Sadly Dave fell back into drugs but Jr kept his promise! They're both clean now! hooray!

  • Countdown had a couple good songs, but for the most part I consider that to be the album where Megadeth lost their way musically. They've never been the same since.

  • I alwys felt that youthansia was the last good album.

  • Actually, I thought Youthanasia would've been a better album if Max Norman hadn't insisted that every single song on that album be done at 120 bpm. I think that ruined some pretty good songs on that album.

  • Nice, they spell Dave's last name wrong.

  • yeah, so they left out one letter...hell, it's close enough...I wonder if anyone calls him david mustang sally???

  • LOL

  • great clip! thank you.

  • Dave's glasses and 'stache pwn!

  • Dumbasses can't even spell Mustaine right...

  • i think james and dave are equal in lyrics but its obvious who is the better guitar player

but both bands have totally different sounds and i dont think its right to compare them

    TALLICA/DETH FOREVER!

  • whats the song at 1:40????

  • wake up dead.

  • Dave doesnt look comfortable on stage. It is hard to play and sing at the same time. I love his singing voice though, excellent.

  • I hate whenever Megadeth don't get recognition as a big band!! especially on some of those guitar magazines! I think it's mostly because ever since Marty left, there hasn't been a great guitar player-until now with Chris. I like marty better though-but dave is a legend and should be more recognized.

  • dave is an excellent song writer... and decent at soloing... so I don't know why hes never recognized

  • why were they playing testament in the begining?

  • Why not?

  • at 3.05--- who acually wrote that prayer first ?? tallica or deth ?? iv noticed its bin used by both bands but neva really gave it much fort after that.

  • ...Niether band wrote it. It's the lords prayer.

  • "One drink is too many and a thousand isn't enough"...great!

  • Dumb asses the prayer has been around even before the band members were born. Is it even that big of a deal? Stop trying to find a reason to accuse either band of doing something first and the other of copying it.

  • mustaine is with e

  • Nick Menza makes a good point between 3:43-3:51 and also the last few minutes of the interview are interesting.

  • that song is fucking earlier and shit, its on bill and teds bogus journey which came out in july 91, and that came out before the black album (aug) so.. i guess metallica ripped of Megadeth, sorry to ruin your burn.

  • owned hahahaha

  • the goatee and glasses is daves "sober" look. hahahaha

  • french looking Dave

  • this is skin o' my teeth, not symphony of destruction

  • I will say that Dave looks kinda funny with that goatee and those glasses.

  • lol he looks completely different here

  • That song in the beginning is Testament - Electric Crown. Metal =)

  • ...the song 'deth is playin or when the lady talks?

cuz megadeth was playin skin of my teeth at the begining

  • When the lady talks. COurse I know that's skin of my teeth -_-.

  • ...the song 'deth is playin or when the lady talks?

cuz megadeth was playin skin of my teeth at the begining

  • MegaDeth is playing Skin O my teeth

  • hahaha..Marty when he speaks..so calm

  • My god... Dave Moustache!! Rofl

  • no way man megadeth rules!!!! you is a hater

  • well megadeth rules youre LIKE horrible and i think youre LIKE gay or something as well..

    piss2deworld

  • Megadeth > Metallica

  • no megadeth can be greater than or equal to on the No Life till leather demo

  • that's Wake up Dead :)

  • i absolutely agree

  • wow thats heaps interesting ay!!!

n duz ne1 no the song that was at about 1:40?!

  • the songs called "wake up dead"

  • skin o my teeth was on countdown extinction, she is just an idiot

  • err.... really? ;)

  • bitch host that was skin o my teeth not symphony of destruction

  • oh SHUT UP!

  • dude you are fucking stupid man. how can you say that. all of megadeth almbus are fucking bad ass man.

  • MoonOvIce you are damn right

  • David Ellefson was an amazing bass player and musician...he should still be with Megadeth, and I really liked what Marty had to say...too bad the only original now is Dave...

  • The ''Original lineup'' was Dave Mustaine, Dave Ellefson, Chris Poland, and Garr Samuelson.

  • I know that...did I say the one with Marty Friedman and Nick Menza was the original one? no, but it was the best one...as I said though, David Ellefson should still be with the band or he should come back since (supposedly) him and Dave are in good terms again...

  • @ 1:35 he looks like a more muscular and more hair version of kip from napolean dynamite

  • David Ellefson is so hot in this interview and Marty is really cute

    Long Live Megadeth \m/

  • the 1st song is "skin o' my teeth" (like megadethshred&heavymetalvagabond allrdy said)..

but arielovich asked for the song at 3:05, which is "go to hell" (as u can see at that part from the vid.) haha, just to clear things up :p

anywayss, i like the vid. it's a nice interview, sober days :D

  • its skin o' my teeth are you fucking retarded he even singed the lyrics jesus

  • Dave ellefson has adhd i think he keeps freaking talking.

  • haha, i agree. but i also think he's right about when u can get ur own idea out of lyrics and relating it to ur own life. pessimistic, but excually realistic :)

  • the same prayer was in the enter sandman song by metallica.

  • who acually wrote that prayer first ?? tallica or deth ?? iv noticed its bin used by both bands but neva really gave it much fort after that.

  • it was in m etallica first aroun ealr 90s whereas dave used it in the mid 90s

  • Nope! bonhamzep7's right!

    IT IS 'GO TO HELL'

  • its skin o my teeth you fuking moron

  • He asked what song was at 3:05, not what the first track was! If you're going to correct me, make sure YOU are right first.

  • abt a million ppl asked wot the song was in various places, and i wasnt answering to arielovich...

  • its skin o my teeth!

  • Dave own!

and ppl, What song is that at 3:05?

  • its the megadeth song "go to hell"

  • did they all used drugs?

  • ellfson always speaks wisely

  • What song is that at 3:05?

  • go to hell

  • he seems very old with those glasses

  • is tht mustaine/? with glasses and a beard

  • oo man, y the hell did ellefson go berserk against dave?!!? well thank God dave won the appeal :D

  • Ellefson thought that he wasn't getting enough song credits. That's what started the feud between him and Mustaine.

  • yeah i know mate, but just stating my ANGER :D

  • go ellefson!:)

  • Megadeth has been better than metallica since they started.Cliff made metallica 83-88 albums even the black album was influenced by cliff, enter sandman, sad but true titles that been around since cliff was alive.Dave did it from scratch and even the new album is rockin as much as countdown or rust in peace can metallica say that about anything since 1991.

  • goodfellatn, I never knew the black album was influenced by Cliff. Where did you find out that Enter Sandman and Sad But True had been around since Cliff was alive?

  • Mustaine may have had taken stuff and alcohol, dunno, but he seems a lot brighter and a more skilled musician than the quite dumb guys from Tallica. Ok Ulrich is quite funny, but I don't understand they keep their musical abilites up. Very disappointing.

  • ellefson rules xD fuck metallica

  • BEST LINE UP

  • Yeah Man, 1st song is called Skin O' my Teeth on the Coundown to extinction album don't be ashamed it happens to the best of us

  • whats the title of the 1st song

  • It's called "Skin o' my teeth"

  • dude check the glasses!!

  • Every Megadeth video I try to watch, every single fucking one, has some goddamn pointless comment war between Metallica and Megadeth. Why don't you all just shut the fuck up and watch the video. The beef is between Dave and Metallica, not any dumbshit who thinks he knows more about each band.

  • well it is a topic you cant evade when you hear about megadeth because every fan of megadeth were or are also fans of metallica also because without that argument megadeth would b still underground and metallica would be a bit less popular because without this metallica would be short on history and people would have lost interest in the band because they would be boring... also its something more to talk about in a conversation :S. but they both own and i agree its geting lame :(

  • Ok #1 im not a fan of metalica because they sound like a white trash band.

#2 iN MY OPINION MEGADETH IS LIKE 1OX BETTER THAN METALICA

  • very true

  • I love Megadeth, NOT Metallica. They aren't my style, but I don't mind them. Not every fan of Megadeth is also a fan of Metallica.

  • yeah seriously its annoying

  • tateum megadeth riffs r no where near metallica riffs

    there better

their riffs arent juss always power chords

  • umm - Outlaw torn, Fixxer, All within my hands, Sweet amber, The unamed feeling, Memory remains, Unforgiven II , Hero of the day, Cure , Wasting my hate.

  • lol. Dave looks very awful :P But he is still a god.

  • hetfield is a better songwriter that isnt even debatable , Have you ever even read the lyrics to a metallica song the meaning behind some of them are beyond clever, megadeth besides the rifts are not even in the same league .
