@dejohn913 I agree! Definitely sounds just like our Flxibles (which are currently being retired BTW) here in NJ, as well as some of the RTS Nova buses. Pretty much same powertrain but with a Cummins C8.3 engine, which sounds kinda crappy, or at least it does in the Flxibles.
The original engine in the 5000s and 5100s from 1990 to 1996 was a Cummins L10 270 hp. Now, I believe the powertrain in these old New Flyers were transversely mounted a la the Flxibles.
Kinda almost sounds like a 1994 New Jersey Transit Flxible Metro D's

@guildrich I've Seen Very Little 1994 Metro S's Left In Newark. There's No More In Camdan Or The South Jersey District.

Love That Wind! That Engine Was An Option For That Bus Then. Good Engine. Detroit Lives.

Does this bus have a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engine?

@Cruzian012 No it never did. I hope it don't.

@Cruzian012
No. Believe it or not, this bus has a Cummins M-11 like in motorcoaches, but it still has a transit bus transmission.

I remember MARTA use to have Cummins L10 engines with Voith. Then some of them were replaced with Series 50 and still had the Voith trannies.

That has to be one of the sexiest engine/transmission combos that i've ever heard. Great recording!

Youre correct. I must add that OCTA repowered the 5000/5100s around 1997/98.
