These are interesting to see the software glitches/loopholes the developers missed. However, Many vending machines are owned and operated by individuals/small businesses. So, two things:

1) This is no different than stealing a soda from a convenience store or the corporate headquarters of the manufacturer (depending on who owns/operates the machine).

2) This isn't really a 'hack' but merely an exploitation of an end user glitch/loophole.

I tried and succeeded with this back in 2006 as well. I also got 3 sodas for the price of 1. (I shake the machine while the 2nd one is popping out, and the very top ones tended to come out, too.

But you have to be quick to remove them from the drop zone because the machine would put itself out of order if it had 2 no sales in a row.

But I'm a really petite girl so I could stick my arm inside the machine and flick out the bottles with a pen or something and just pull them out without putting any money in. I stole like 14 Vaults one day. I could reach the first two spots closest to the door.

He grabbed the drink so the arm couldn't properly dispense it & would eventually read as an "error", go down & come back up to try again and then when there was a second error it would give up and give you your money back. Idk if these are around anymore, they've modified them to eliminate stealing. Had them in our HS for a few months before they took them out back in '06 lol.

there is a EASIER and FASTER way to open locks and doors by using superbumpkeys, i got some online for about 2 bucks at superbumpkeys. com and all you have to do is hit the key with a screwdriver or something hard and turn the key and your in.. it doesnt get any better than that.

its a 1 dollar bill, for 1 dollar drinks. It registers as an error, and that it didnt dispense anything, so it gave me my 1 dollar back in change.

I have the same conveyor-belt style vending machine at my college & it wont spit your money out after you block the first drink from coming out.

Then even if you decide you want to pay again so you actually get your drink(s), it will only spit out the first drink on the belt...

Maybe they updated the firmware or something, as hacks like this started to become more known.
