Brett is great. But so are many other guitar players of fusion and other styles. Bottom line for any Professional Musician is how many people are coming to your live shows and how many are buying your album. Record Companys and Producers could care less about how fast or complicated you can play if the albums don't sell. I hope he does well. This is a great melody with some serious solos. Is there someone better? Yes. No matter how good you are, there is or will be someone better!
@johnnyrocksable True. Poor guy is not that famous though. He can't afford to release many solo albums or go on tour because he is self funded. I wish he could though cos i think he's really great.
Mr Garsed, is a close friend.JK! However if You think YOU are better in any way, polish up your shit and prove it. So sick of hearing people talking trash, those are the ones that really dont know shit! probably working on stairway to heaven. Just make a video of you doing better than all your shit talking!!!
I love this bluesy stuff - and the playing is just total bullshit. Amazing. So sad that guys with this much talent can only afford to record their videos in recording & rehearsal studios.
Amazing, truly unique technique. He uses his fingers and his pick depending on the tone or accent he wants for a note. Killer man! I thought Chris Broderick was good! By the way who could even think of Hammet when watching this guy play. Hammet is the wonder boy of the A-minor pentatonic, and speed chromatics. Woo Hoo!
okay guthrie govan and brett garsed are the best ever..... with guthrie having the slight edge imo. bith amazing. i wish more kids my age knew about these guys instead of shitty guys like syn gates

he's great this great picking technique where he uses his fingers on the high strings. it's a shame he will never be world famous b/c there's too many sh-t acts out there stealing the spotlight.
Unbelievable-I have been a fan of virtuoso guitar players since the 80's & have heard of this guy-I should have listened sooner. Been sitting here for 20 minutes with my PRS trying to figure this out, I think I could live to be 200 and still not be that smooth.
garsed is a legend. tragic that he is overlooked by players such as gilbert, satriani etc. brett is head and shoulders above these guys in every single dept:compostion, tone, phrasing, improv, technique, knowledge and application. exceptional and ranks with the best.
@WilfridRUN Right on. That's my dream G3 as well. It's a close call between Gambale and Eric Johnson though. Gambale is phenomenal but EJ has those tones.
This guy is one of the best you'll ever see. Go to his website and listen to the live solo he did when he was with Nelson. As good as if not better than any heavy metal/hard rock player I've ever heard. And I am a big fan of metal myself.
@Exoskeletaljunction can't understand your point. sorry, but maybe you are one of those guys whose horizon is quite constrictedin the understanding of guitarplaying. because of that, you depreciate everything which exceeds your own skills and knowledge. man i am really pissed of peoplel ike you discriminating awsome skilled guitarplayer. it's just peoples envy.
Whoa.... Why thumbs down? I never said the rest was bad.... I actually love all his runs in this video... I just said it changes.... It actually shows how narrow minded the rest of you are. Stop being a douche and assuming. Go look at my favorites and you'll see that i'm not one of those kids that go around saying "play super fast tasteless shred"
@Exoskeletaljunction lol are you kidding, of course you say indirectly the rest is bad. you wrote"he should have kept going with the intro": this shows that YOU ARE NARROW MINDED. why keep going with the intro stuff?????? it is a fact that people like you always think that "fast playing" or "playing many notes" detains you to play with so called "feeling".i tell ya something: you can't play fast if you don't play with feeling, because else it would sound like crap. playing with feeling is basic
Wow dude your ridiculous. You noticed you were wrong and instead of owning up to it and being like "Oh my bad I didn't realize you meant that. Its kind of hard to understand your inflection through text." You came up with some insane counter argument that went so far off what I was originally saying. And what is even more retarded is the fact you say all this stuff about playing fast when if you'd just look at my favorites you'd see all though soulful shredders. Lane, Holdsworth, Garsed, Quayle.
@Exoskeletaljunction agreed. kirk hammet is totally overrated. his playing is very sloppy. when i was 12 years old my playing was way better than kirk hammet, i'm not kidding
Not completely my thing I must say, not heavy enough and too much legato... Having said that he is really good and I am just STOKED that he is Australian!!! Not enough of us down here, not by a long way. If anyone knows of any GOOD Australian shredders please let me know.

@sswanny1 / I walked into a music store here in Virginia back in 1990 and he was doing a clinic with Bobby Rock and was floored! Been a fan since. So much so I even bought a Nelson cd so I could hear him. The lp's he did with TJ Helemerich are so beautiful. Great tone phrasing and music from both of them!
You can see the holdsworth influence in his playing ,which is awesome. His music is alot better then alot of the other guys from this genre( i wont mention any names). 5/5
