  • Fcuk sweep picking and tapping, I best be learning me some Hybrid picking!

  • The Steve Vai of Jazz Rock music?

  • Frank Gambale on valium

  • Brett is great. But so are many other guitar players of fusion and other styles. Bottom line for any Professional Musician is how many people are coming to your live shows and how many are buying your album. Record Companys and Producers could care less about how fast or complicated you can play if the albums don't sell. I hope he does well. This is a great melody with some serious solos. Is there someone better? Yes. No matter how good you are, there is or will be someone better!

  • @johnnyrocksable True. Poor guy is not that famous though. He can't afford to release many solo albums or go on tour because he is self funded. I wish he could though cos i think he's really great.

  • I can't tell if it's the video that's ahead of his sound or his technique...

  • Mr Garsed, is a close friend.JK! However if You think YOU are better in any way, polish up your shit and prove it. So sick of hearing people talking trash, those are the ones that really dont know shit! probably working on stairway to heaven. Just make a video of you doing better than all your shit talking!!!

  • Has anyone ever played one of these Steinberger Gs models?

I never had my hands on any Pre-Gibson Steinbergers, so please let me know.

  • I love this bluesy stuff - and the playing is just total bullshit. Amazing. So sad that guys with this much talent can only afford to record their videos in recording & rehearsal studios.

  • I have come to notice that the best guitarists dress in the dark

  • 119 to 129 is just rediculious....... ;)

  • I really hate to do this but i'm going to have to take you to court for causing my face to melt.

  • Garsed played on the first Planet X album. Thereafter, it was Mac Alpine.

  • @rperezatx007 Wrong. Garsed played on the latest. Holdsworth contributed with two solos.

  • @RickDuracell Actually, Garsed played on both

  • @Justasssu No way man... You could've misunderstood, because TJ Helmerich took part on engineering.

Brett Garsed played only on Quantum.

  • @RickDuracell He played on Quantum and Molecular Heinosity.

He also played on the album Planet X.

  • @Justasssu Well, ok... No one said he doesn't play on them.

But @rperezatx007 said he played on the first Planet X album, which is Universe. And MacAlpine played on it, not Brett Garsed.

  • @RickDuracell Oh yeah, i remembered that Planet X was the first album.

  • he has water fingers.

  • I love Brett's playing... it's just phenomenal.

  • like Bruce Lee once said " be like water my friend.." ..now this is as fluid as you can get to being like water...this guy is amazing.

  • you can hear holdsworth in parts of his playing..great stuff

  • Love his playing in Planet X. He's great on his own too.

  • @stiltonchees Tony Macalpine plays in Planet X not Brett Garsed

  • @virtualbandru Garsed plays on Quantum. Or so says wikipedia anyhow.

  • SICK!!!!!

  • Chiken pick technique hu

  • had the realization that there are so many good australian guitarists. Frank Gambale: Best sweep picker, Brett Garsed: Best Hybrid picker

  • @SirJamestheIII Plus Tommy Emmanuel!

  • @NinjaPepper yup and joe robinson....

  • @SirJamestheIII I beg to differ as Holdsworth as the best sweep picker

  • he shits all over the "popular" guitarists like vai, satriani and malmsteen.

    a total fucking god!

  • Garsed and Becker are tied for #1 in my book

  • 4.24 WARP FACTOR 9!!!! VAI, MALMSTEEN, PETRUCCI, SATCH, GOVAN, LANE, KOTZEN, HOLDSWORTH, GAMBALE, RUSTY, GILBERT, HOWE HAVE JUST BEEN VAPORIZED...SCHOOLED....OWNED!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing, truly unique technique. He uses his fingers and his pick depending on the tone or accent he wants for a note. Killer man! I thought Chris Broderick was good! By the way who could even think of Hammet when watching this guy play. Hammet is the wonder boy of the A-minor pentatonic, and speed chromatics. Woo Hoo!

  • What the F@#$? Astounding!!!!!!

  • Sometimes, I wish he would expand his style to include a greater energy for volume dynamics. Cuz this tippy tap shit gets old...

Dont' get me wrong, I love him...

  • okay guthrie govan and brett garsed are the best ever..... with guthrie having the slight edge imo. bith amazing. i wish more kids my age knew about these guys instead of shitty guys like syn gates

  • Usually when I watch a video I more or less can tell what the guitar player is doing and try to copy it, but in this case I clueless. Amazing guy, I´m glad I got to this video

  • master!!!!!

  • 1:18-1:29, how does one compute that shit on the fly like that, heh

  • he's great this great picking technique where he uses his fingers on the high strings. it's a shame he will never be world famous b/c there's too many sh-t acts out there stealing the spotlight.

  • Does anybody know who his drummer is?

  • Are these GS models a true NED era guitar, or Gibson era?

I heard both yes and no.

I heard Gibson era made these to compete with Ibanez?

    Anyone have the facts?

  • fucking genius.

  • I agree Kirk Hammet SUCKS!

  • Comment removed

  • Unbelievable-I have been a fan of virtuoso guitar players since the 80's & have heard of this guy-I should have listened sooner. Been sitting here for 20 minutes with my PRS trying to figure this out, I think I could live to be 200 and still not be that smooth.

  • Absolutely Master I love it !!!

  • Que zarpado que es éste tipo !

  • yo le gano

  • is this song from an album?

  • garsed is a legend. tragic that he is overlooked by players such as gilbert, satriani etc. brett is head and shoulders above these guys in every single dept:compostion, tone, phrasing, improv, technique, knowledge and application. exceptional and ranks with the best.

  • love this track. I often listen to it to motivate myself to become a better guitar player.

  • This guy is fucking annoyingly brilliant. So much so I have turned green with envy.

    .

  • incredible control...It's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it is called a musical oasis awaiting us?

  • Hah, the ending is actualy quite scary! :)

  • My dream is a G3 with Greg Howe,Frank Gambale, and this incredible guy:Mr Brett Garsed!!!

  • @WilfridRUN oh hell yeah! I agree on all three! :) Make it happen!

  • @WilfridRUN Right on. That's my dream G3 as well. It's a close call between Gambale and Eric Johnson though. Gambale is phenomenal but EJ has those tones.

  • @WilfridRUN oh yeah it would be an awesome and truest G3 - Greg, Gambale and Garsed :D

  • @WilfridRUN What about Glenn Proudfoot ?

  • @dannycorser

don't know him a lot,but i think he's not playing fusion like the 3 guys i have mentionned.

  • superman

  • This guy is one of the best you'll ever see. Go to his website and listen to the live solo he did when he was with Nelson. As good as if not better than any heavy metal/hard rock player I've ever heard. And I am a big fan of metal myself.

  • lol

  • are you an idiot on purpose, or it's all an accident?

  • @brownbigb i'm just messing around.

  • he flows his runs like frank gambale. amazing guys

  • He should of kept going with the intro. He hits the most beautiful notes and then it changes.

  • @Exoskeletaljunction can't understand your point. sorry, but maybe you are one of those guys whose horizon is quite constrictedin the understanding of guitarplaying. because of that, you depreciate everything which exceeds your own skills and knowledge. man i am really pissed of peoplel ike you discriminating awsome skilled guitarplayer. it's just peoples envy.

  • Whoa.... Why thumbs down? I never said the rest was bad.... I actually love all his runs in this video... I just said it changes.... It actually shows how narrow minded the rest of you are. Stop being a douche and assuming. Go look at my favorites and you'll see that i'm not one of those kids that go around saying "play super fast tasteless shred"

  • @Exoskeletaljunction lol are you kidding, of course you say indirectly the rest is bad. you wrote"he should have kept going with the intro": this shows that YOU ARE NARROW MINDED. why keep going with the intro stuff?????? it is a fact that people like you always think that "fast playing" or "playing many notes" detains you to play with so called "feeling".i tell ya something: you can't play fast if you don't play with feeling, because else it would sound like crap. playing with feeling is basic

  • Wow dude your ridiculous. You noticed you were wrong and instead of owning up to it and being like "Oh my bad I didn't realize you meant that. Its kind of hard to understand your inflection through text." You came up with some insane counter argument that went so far off what I was originally saying. And what is even more retarded is the fact you say all this stuff about playing fast when if you'd just look at my favorites you'd see all though soulful shredders. Lane, Holdsworth, Garsed, Quayle.

  • the*

  • @Exoskeletaljunction "He should of kept going with the intro" lol why?????

  • Because I wanted to see what else he'd have to "say" in that context of the song. Pretty obvious.

  • Kirk Hammet is the worst famous guitar player ever.

  • @Exoskeletaljunction

    Kerry king hahha

  • @Exoskeletaljunction also U2's guitarist , he was in the top 10 best guitarists before ..shocking ..and kirk just sucks haha

  • @Exoskeletaljunction KIRK IT GOOD BUT HE WILL NEVER PICK LIKE THIS GUY

  • @Exoskeletaljunction agreed. kirk hammet is totally overrated. his playing is very sloppy. when i was 12 years old my playing was way better than kirk hammet, i'm not kidding

  • @Exoskeletaljunction wtf is wrong with you kirk hammett has written guitar solos for the best guitar-orientated band in existence

  • @powerlessjustice88 I say this often.. "best" is fact based. ...I would suggest you change that to "my favorite" ...it would be MUCH more accurate.

  • @Exoskeletaljunction I'd have to give it to Neil Young or Maybe Slash

  • @Exoskeletaljunction I'm sure he's better than Billy Joe Armstrong...

  • @Exoskeletaljunction Kurt Cobain?

  • @Exoskeletaljunction

    KH sucks!

100% agree with you on that

Mike Varney proved that with Shrapnel Records in the mid 80's

  • @Exoskeletaljunction o yeah, you go ahead and tear him up then asshole. not a chance

  • @TheFountainhead69 You sir, gets two points just for being a complete moron. Good for you!

  • Amazing licks from a great great musician ! Love it.

  • very good feel player, great!!

  • WOW, it just FLOWS.

  • Sick!!!!! Awesome player!!!!!!

  • This cat is awesome.

  • This is rediculous! Hes increadible! (and i cant spell!) Wow!

  • The song is called Quid Pro Quo. :)

    Wonderful playing.

  • 4:10 my dick was hard... ::)

  • outstanding. PERFECT technique!

  • 4:25 - 4:26 is badass as hell

  • Simply badass. Incredible fluidity, accurate as hell, beautiful melodies and all that topped off with balls!

  • Not completely my thing I must say, not heavy enough and too much legato... Having said that he is really good and I am just STOKED that he is Australian!!! Not enough of us down here, not by a long way. If anyone knows of any GOOD Australian shredders please let me know.

  • Sweet!! I wish more newbie players knew about guys like this!! Garsed, Holdsworth, Lane, Govan etc. Just a brief listen opens your mind and heart to limitless possibilities!!

  • ...Gambale, Helmerich, Henderson...

  • Great song!!

  • did someone notice thet way he gracefully plays all those tastefully chosen notes and he didn´t miss NOT EVEN ONE????

he is so, so, so outstanding!

  • Bret toca meravillosamente!

  • Hey mate ! that song's name is QuiD Pro QuO i just bought the album ! !

    cheers !

  • been following this cat since 1998........ ultra hot him and T. J. Helmerich

  • amazing.. even better live...

  • This guy is totally amazing. I have never seen a player like this, so fluid. I love Petrucci, Govan, Vai and all the others but this guy has such a unique style. Great shit!!!!!

  • @sswanny1 he's self thought :)

  • @meowtrox Taught. I don't believe for a second though that he doesn't know music theory or at least has studied music. Not having a teacher and not having books and resources to learn are two very different things. He didn't just come up with this stuff on his own.

  • @GitarrPwnz lol. right but he mentioned that on this instructional video

  • @meowtrox I believe you I just hate when people admire guys for being self taught and then try to do their version of, "self-teaching," and don't actually learn anything and waste hours upon hours not actually learning how to get better at the instrument.

  • @sswanny1 / I walked into a music store here in Virginia back in 1990 and he was doing a clinic with Bobby Rock and was floored! Been a fan since. So much so I even bought a Nelson cd so I could hear him. The lp's he did with TJ Helemerich are so beautiful. Great tone phrasing and music from both of them!

  • You can see the holdsworth influence in his playing ,which is awesome. His music is alot better then alot of the other guys from this genre( i wont mention any names). 5/5

  • Quid Pro Quo, not crash and burn. thx for post anyway =D

  • Sound a bit like joey tafolla in his album ''plastic'' ..i was in a rusty cooley page, but i decided to hear some music so i came here..awesome player.

  • Those lines are to die for.

  • jaja pajeroooo!!!, pero increible igual, good sense also

  • fantastic and tasteful play

  • Brutal, my face just fell off...

  • OMG

  • No one like Garsed, he's unique.

  • I agree

  • David , the song name is Quid Pro Qou.

  • all those one fret hops up and down the neck. how does he do it

  • It's Quid Pro Quo, my Fav

  • I just love the way he plays !! He just have a great feeling for playing very dynamic rythmic lines and melodies, and an awesome technique using hybrid picking. I honestly think he belong up there with the famous guitar gurus. His instruction DVD is great and feels very personal

  • This is from his instructional video.

  • amazing!!!!!

  • WHAT SOUND!

  • i love 4:26

  • does anyone have the tab (power or guitar pro) for this? thanks

  • 4:10 through the end absolutely owns. Garsed is a genius.

  • Awesome playing. all the little twats who think that fast atonal picking makes them a good player should watch this

  • Self-taught and worked as a plumber before going pro. Hard work can pay off even w/o access to GIT.

  • It is so refreshing to hear someone who not only possessess great skill, but a sense of melody & phrasing. Brett is up there with the best!

  • I love ......... emotions causes me got high evrytime im listening to this

  • Brett is completely self-taught and studied improvisation from a young age, playing along to songs on the radio. Basically he was able to play like this before he even knew what a scale was. He's fantastic!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

  • Truly amazing. Up there with holdsworth for my money.

  • does anyone have the tab (power or guitar pro better) for this? thanks

  • This song is called "Quid Pro Quo". Its from the album(of the same name) by Brett Garsed & TJ Helmerich.

  • how does he chicken pick at that speed and have it be that seamless? he da man

  • 5:00+ daaamn

  • i mean zakks...

  • I like Zakk's playing for what it is...A rock/metal guy, but Brett's on a whole different level. Sophisticated key changes and progressions. I doubt Zakk would know what to do over the kind of modulations Brett does...

  • check out his compositions with derek sherinian....

  • I agree. He's on the level of a Larry Carlton or Joe Pass as far as playing over changes. He always seems to be under control and sounds like a stone skipping over the water with these great musical sensabilities. All that witha cool rock tone and smooth vibrato. Kind of reminds me of an Allan Holdsworth with a tonal center!

  • lol thats exactly what he reminds me of

hes like the Tonal version of Holdsworth

  • all y'all need to get "big sky" y'all'll love it...

  • este hombre es sencillamente increible es lo mejor de lo mejor ,quisiera conocerlo algun dia! lo maximo brett!

  • this man have a extreme very good technique , i love you brett!

  • Brett techinique is brutal... I love EXEMPT

  • this song is called Quid Pro Quo... from Brett Garsed and T.J. Helmerich album

    =D

  • try his new songs....

  • Agreed.

  • great playing man sj.

  • thats the "technique freak" bret garsed in that video. ....i like his music an playing because he don't have to play a zillion notes to demostrate that he is one of the best fusion guitar players...just visit his myspace and listen to "melodic song"

  • one of the best players around the world...this guy have all..feeling,and the way he play the guitar is simply amazing..looks easy..but the legato that he play is very nice, with greg howe, simply the best...

  • this man is amazing! i discover him today...he is a great!

  • where can i find tabs of his masterpiece?

  • Brett is amazing!!!

  • Is there any tabs on his work??

  • Yeah, I got some...

I'll try to find it again...

  • I found some music Oasis, but they were not even close to anything I seen him play? they were on bretts site? hey thxs!

  • Awesome player. Check out his full concert on google video, every song is amazing.
