8th note falling chords are faster then his opening 16th notes ones(!)
metronome marking at 16th = 108. he went about four times as fast.
Its also tora! TORA! T-O-R-A!, not wra,, wra,, wra
could do with out the muffled pedal as well. Probably learned the piece 2 weeks before, figured if he beats the crap out of a piano on stage no one will know the difference. Listen to Robert Shannon, stays pure to the score, drammatic effect.
i m sorry how can you tell? It seems that the composer collected a pile of dog feces and placed it on the score. This is the only explanation for this piece of art...
@speedotorpedo26 I understand that the performance deviates from the score, but why is that bad in itself? The creativity of a musician lies in his or her capacity to interpret as he or she sees fit.
The guy is showing up too much - make music man!!! the score requests a totally different approach - let leave the Liberace antics for something else - the music is great without theatrics
Kaimo1: I agree with you. This is cheap showmanship used to disguise poor musicianship. He's trying to impress the audience by making them think that this music is difficult to play (it isn't). For an even worse example of showmanship, do a search on 'berio leaf' to see a YouTube video of Paul Crossley acting like a child when playing the piano in public.
Thanks for your response - I have performed this work and will be be performing it again in my next trip to my country. I hated to see this display of showmanship at the time when that very section of the piece yearns for what is coming which is a truly response to such a tense moment in the totally consonat key of B minor with a dinamic triple FFF - I did see the Berio performance (I can only see it as laughable) take care
m.1 wrong rhythm
line 2 no percussive accents
system 3 no clarity

@speedotorpedo26 I understand your grievances, but this man has excellent stage presence.

Someone didn't read the score very accurately. Highly inaccurate performance. No attention to rhythms whatsoever.

Yuk! Highly unmusical and not performed as directed in the score. A cheap immitation of the real thing.

It says in the damn description that it's Jiun Yoong Lim playing George Crumb's - Tora! Tora! Tora!
Wonderfully entertaining to watch this performed, especially in such a lively way.
