@KILLARforRILLA that means your ps3 thinks theres a disc in side you your probably have to open your ps3 disc and remove the disc tray motor to reset there probably and simple way but i dont know but if you need help look up junker15 he has great vids explain how to ope it

dude, this really helped me alot, had a old orginal phat 60gb , i saw how peeps reflowed it on youtube and thought id give it a try, 9.99 heatgun from ebay, and it worked! now ive two ps3,lol, but the blu ray drive was making a machine gun noise due to taking out a new battlefield 2 game out, (yes, it sat around for that long) and now the drives fully working, its in the bedroom for tvbluray//internet and web chatting as a spare console, joy! thanks for the help, keep up the good work dude!

My blu-ray eye defaulted to the middle of the disc instead of the outside because I turned it off by unplugging it by mistake one day and it stopped working for over a week. I took it apart with your instructional video here and set the default back to the outside and it worked. Coincidentally that was 10 minutes before SONY Online came back. This has happened me before and I sent it in for $150 guys I suggest putting a blu ray cleaning disc in and if it doesnt work try to reformat your system. If all else fails contact sony because I wouldnt risk takin my ps3 apart because if I do and fuck up theres about 200-300$ i just lost. If you send it to sony it gets refurbished so you know it will pretty much work and if your lucky they will mess up or something and get you a new ps3 :D

ok i think my disk drive is broken it excepts the ps3 disk but it tries to read it but it seems like the ps3 doesnt spin the disk but the screen still shows it trying to read the disk i tried using a CD DR. lens cleaning disk thinking that was the problem and it didnt read that disk so im guessing the drive is broken or the eye is toast

Hello.. I opened my ps3 to clean my lens... When I did.. I did it carefully and step by step.. But.. When I did I had a disc inside..not knowing it may have mattered I removed it and continued .. Opening and swabbing lens..... I re assembled it... And then attempted to try a game.. To find discs are bieng blocked from entering .. It's tough to see in drive slit.. Hope u can shed light on my issue before I re open.. Maybe the "serious complication".. Or in reverse,.. Please elaborate.

@INS14466 it means that its finding resistance with trying to come out of your player. Now for a solution, thats hard to say as you can see there are a lot of moving parts. I recommend taking it apart and seeing if it matches up to mine in the video.

I've got a question for you. At the start when you talk about not pushing the disc all the way in - that taking it apart with the disc in would cause serious complications? I had a disc stuck in it due to a removed sticker from the previous owner. I had to take it a part, a small 1/3 inch spring fell out and I was unable to locate where it came from. It's just a plain spring, no hooks like the others.

i have the same result as letmeanpeople , my blue ray drive seems slightly different from the one in the video (80gb fatty) , no disc sensor as far as i can see, and the front loading arms only gear on one side, no screw either, just a snap tab holding that together, drive reads fine if i manually load them with top off, but it thinks it has a disc inside even if i put it together in the unloaded position , but all the videos i see so far point to the disc sensor with mine doesnt have

help me out please dude, i took my drive apart to fix the laser thsats fine but discs wont go inu know the mechanism u said shud be smth it jams, when u take it off it moves fine whats jamming it is the 2 little grey plastic things that lie under it the ones that can move 90 degrees to the left but not right, these things arejamming the levers when i look at urs they are under the levers (the things that move when the cd goes in and out)

if you messed around with the tray and gears have fallen out you have to put the gears back in theres 3 gears on each arm once placed inside try turning them so they all move, next theres 2 metal arms underneath try opening them very slightly then connecting those to the thing with the gears inside
@drakken885 if you did it right the gears should be in place and the arms move in and out properly same as 1:58, in this video hoped that helped someone

@misterchango theres 3 springs 1 in the begining of video attached to the white thing on the right and 1 spring on each one of those lil grey things on the bottom
@drakken885 to attach the 2 small springs in the bottem if they have fallen off, put the spring around the small cylinder you insert the grey thing on, the longer part of the spring will look a little bent it should go around the left on left side and right on the right side
ok so i understand all of this except im having a problem with the panel with the 2 arms on it the grey flaps are all good theres a little wire on both those are good im just having a problem centreing that hole panel so the arms move free once i put the 1 tiny screw back in any tips on how to centre that panel so its screwed in and the arms move thx

My blueray lens is working but the disc willo not spin at all! Tracking works fine as well. Just will not spin?

ok i think my disk drive is broken it excepts the ps3 disk but it tries to read it but it seems like the ps3 doesnt spin the disk but the screen still shows it trying to read the disk i tried using a CD DR. lens cleaning disk thinking that was the problem and it didnt read that disk so im guessing the drive is broken or the eye is toast

@Tiggyiggyiggy well i called sony and they wanted alot of money just to give me a refurbished one so i went to my local game repair shop and they told me they couldnt fix it and i ended up buying a new one so unless youve got the money i would call sony or buy a new one sorry man

hey dude hopefully youll reply to this, my bluray drive will NOT even let me push a disc in wether its plugged in an turned on or just the bluray drive on its own, i hav found this problems with another bluray drive, but my ps3 only overheated its fine otherwise, and the other ps3 thats fucked is coz of the bluray drive, and my other mates one werks finebut hs ps3 is fucked so basically i was wondering if you knew why it wont even go inside

Hello.. I opened my ps3 to clean my lens... When I did.. I did it carefully and step by step.. But.. When I did I had a disc inside..not knowing it may have mattered I removed it and continued .. Opening and swabbing lens..... I re assembled it... And then attempted to try a game.. To find discs are bieng blocked from entering .. It's tough to see in drive slit.. Hope u can shed light on my issue before I re open.. Maybe the "serious complication".. Or in reverse,.. Please elaborate.

my ps3 will not take any disks or anything. I had something on my blu ray disk that got my blu ray stuck and when i opened it up and got it out, it stop letting me put anything in it.

@INS14466 it means that its finding resistance with trying to come out of your player. Now for a solution, thats hard to say as you can see there are a lot of moving parts. I recommend taking it apart and seeing if it matches up to mine in the video.

I just put a new (used) laser mech into my drive. when I turned on my ps3 and inserted a game, it sounded like it was waggeling all around and I wasnt able to eject the game. so I had to open the drive again to get the disc out. do u know what it could be? im trying to put the drivei nside the ps3 for another time
and this time im only gonna use a raw cd. but some advise would be perfect

everything worked great. i replaced my laser but then the disc wont go in. im assuming i messed something up while assembling and de-assembling my ps3. uhm the grey parts came off along with the spring. im not too sure what to do, how do you put them back on properly?

I've got a question for you. At the start when you talk about not pushing the disc all the way in - that taking it apart with the disc in would cause serious complications? I had a disc stuck in it due to a removed sticker from the previous owner. I had to take it a part, a small 1/3 inch spring fell out and I was unable to locate where it came from. It's just a plain spring, no hooks like the others.

i have the same result as letmeanpeople , my blue ray drive seems slightly different from the one in the video (80gb fatty) , no disc sensor as far as i can see, and the front loading arms only gear on one side, no screw either, just a snap tab holding that together, drive reads fine if i manually load them with top off, but it thinks it has a disc inside even if i put it together in the unloaded position , but all the videos i see so far point to the disc sensor with mine doesnt have

my ps3 slim when i play games it makes kind of a clicking noise i hear in the disc drive section, its really quiet i have to put my ear next to it, is it normal? only in the beginning like the first 15 mins of gameplay then it kinda stops. is it the disc drive just working? it doesnt leave scaratches or anything on the disc

help me out please dude, i took my drive apart to fix the laser thsats fine but discs wont go inu know the mechanism u said shud be smth it jams, when u take it off it moves fine whats jamming it is the 2 little grey plastic things that lie under it the ones that can move 90 degrees to the left but not right, these things arejamming the levers when i look at urs they are under the levers (the things that move when the cd goes in and out)

Could anyone help, after doing this and putting it back together whenever i try to put a disk in it wont go in! like something blocking the bit where you put the disk in :S

if you messed around with the tray and gears have fallen out you have to put the gears back in theres 3 gears on each arm once placed inside try turning them so they all move, next theres 2 metal arms underneath try opening them very slightly then connecting those to the thing with the gears inside

@drakken885 to attach the 2 small springs in the bottem if they have fallen off, put the spring around the small cylinder you insert the grey thing on, the longer part of the spring will look a little bent it should go around the left on left side and right on the right side

be very careful with those cuz if you snap any plastic or anything its scrapped

i did everything i could i even took apart the ps3 and it still does the same. i play COD MW 2 and after a game or two it freezes. the only way i can turn it off is from the back. i cleaned the lens i cleaned the dust out and it still dosent work. i can play demos though an music an internet but i cant play a real game anymore. what do i do?????

@illsparku12 that is the magnet is should just come right off, you probbally have to re align the drive cuz it thinks theres a disk inside look up the loader alignment video
