Yep, Wal Marts around Ft. Worth have em for 23.97! Get em while their cheap folks! 1/2 the price of PDX1's or Gold Dots and just as great of performance...
i live down and die by that box right there ...and plus 40s&w is my favorite round too ....ohhhhh thats some good shit right there ..but dont tell no one eles b 4 they buy it all ..lmao
@Hashmountain Winchester Ranger T are the new black talons, they are basically the same design, just no black teflon coating. I totally agree with you, go with what makes youfeel good...
@Hashmountain They don't make black talons anymore. Winchester Ranger T's and HST's are the SAME EXACT thing as the "black talons". They are just a newer generation of bullet now with different names.
I bought 2 boxes of this ammo at walmart for $13/box. I thought it was trash and that was why it was on sale. I shot the two boxes and went back and bought the rest they had in stock. Got 12 more boxes @ 13/box.
A retired cop works at my walmart and said this was their duty ammo and the red box federal was their practice ammo....So I do have some and like the way it shoots aswell.
@mechanisto1832 I will post the specs on this ammo soon, just bought some a month or so ago. Bought 2 boxes of 135 grain hst's and 2 boxes of 180 grain hst's both in 40 smith and wesson. This stuff has great powers and amazingly cool muzzle flash. #1 best ammo in my book for a hard hitting round that does not get to your wallet because these work so flawlessly. Getting hard to get it though. Some sort of ammo ban for police and millitary service only people to buy it. not sure what thats about.
great price. I like the low recoil 135's for the g27 also. I paid $26 per 50 of 165gr HST's. hard to find though. even now that supply seems to be bouncing back. another claim to fame for the HST is it's weight retention. nearly 100% through all types of material. magic I guess since it doesn't even appear to be a bonded bullet.
I bought a slew of this in 9mm, .40, and .45 some time back just as the ammo shortage hit. This is top drawer defensive ammo. As I understood, this ammo was made using FBI specs to pass through, say a winshield, and yet fully expand in soft tissue. Thanks for the alert, I will p/u more of this.
Dude, 185 gr. not hollow point though, Federal ammo in 100 count "value pack" at my local Wal-Mart 27.95 and that is with tax.

When did Federal start putting HST rounds in non-nickle plated cases and loading them in the boxes reserved for the cheap range ammo?
Nakanokalronin 1 week ago
I just got 500 rounds of the 180gr for less than 200 shipped :)

Looks good but I'll stick with the Hornady Critical Defense or the Black Talons.

@Hashmountain Federal HST, Gold Dot, and Winchester ranger-T are the best hollow points around

@mechanisto1832 To each his own, you have to go with what you like, not what others tell you to.

I don't like that bullet not enough penetration.

@subysuby Would you wanna stand in front of one?? not me...
mechanisto1832 4 months ago
@mechanisto1832 I wouldn't stand in front of a .22 either but I don't use one for self-defense.

@mechanisto1832
I wouldn't want to stand in front of a .22 subsonic. Doesn't mean I'd use it for self-defense. I prefer 165 or 180 grain loads in .40.

@subysuby You dont want alot of penetration in a ccw ammo... unless you want the bullet to pass through into an innocent civilian

the hollow point looks the same as the federal law enforcement ammunition except the law enforcement comes with a nickel casing. Great stuff.

Did you measure the diameter of the bullet after it expanded?
The expansion looks greater then 0.5 inches

by the way, those looked just like HST's, and I'm sure they were, but they were in a strange (generic) federal box. weird.
