thank you so much! This weekend I caught my first redfish with my dad and it made me appreciate fishing on a whole new level... I can't wait to go back!!! now I know how to tie a knot
@Hats1976 maybe you arent tightening it up enough, i mean i would have tightened it more than the guy in the vid did. the thicker the line, the harder it is though. especially if youre hooking a 16lb carp.. :)
just two things i would add, ones a staement ones kinda a question, firstly i would always recommend ALWAYS wetting any knot u tie with saliva before tighting it down. ok now u can also tie this not with out passing the tag end back through the eye just pass it through the loop you created from whipping it back up the line six times.
@Darkzezimazz the nanofil and basic snell are much stronger. i know like 50 knots how many do you know and which ones would you recomend besides the palomar? i bet i know a knot stronger than anything you use
Actually a better clinch knot is to do the same but instead of wrapping on the line you wrap on the hook's below the eyelet. This way you are spreading the load to the metal part instead of a single point contact with the eyelet.
this knot is bad it is known to slip. 6 turns is too much 5 is better. you should go twice through the loop at the beginning. there is a side that is better when inserting the tag end at the end but he does it randomly.
if you pass the tag end of the line twice through the eye of the hook at step 1 then it doubles the strength of the knot. You should try its a reliable knot
thanks for the video! I'm planing on getting into fishing soon, next paycheck im picking up a good beginner rod&reel lol, don't think im gonna catch anything but will be fun to give it a shot.
You know, you guys should be so mean. lol. He actually explained the knot well! Not everybody is an experienced fisherman, he probably helped a few people. :)
Wetting the knot with your mouth before you pull it tight lubricates the line, preventing the line getting hot from friction, also making the knot much tighter and easier
Is there different ways to do the improved clinch knot ? Because I have seen several different methods. First time I've seen one that goes back through the eye of the hook. I just snell hooks anyways.
put spit on the line first. If you have smaller test, the friction of tightening the knot often weakens the line (heats it up real quick) and it will snap. ;)
dont you know the rule of learning knots before you get to the water. I hate videos like this, you cant see the line because his background is so bright and his hands are obscuring the knot. Besides, the improved clinch works much better.
Better check your monitor resolution. you can see that line just fine, and he did a fine job. at least he used a heavy line and a big hook, lot better than any other video.
The improved cinch goes through the loop like you showed but it turns up and goes back through the last loop you made.
You also want to wet(Lick it) the knot before you cinch/pull it tight.
Another tip put the line and tag end between your thumb &i ndex finger and slide thumb forward against the index finger. it will instantly twist the line.
Thanks for putting this up! this weekend will be my first time fishing and this not here will make me look like if been fishing for a while in front of my cousins lol
Thank you for the video. I promised my 6 year old son to go fishing in Scotland...and to tell the truth i could not remember how my father showed me how to tie a hook.

Can we do that with trebles
bustaposey28 2 months ago
you forgot to lick it. a little moisture will make that knot close up better
kylemonkey 3 months ago
@kylemonkey also when you squeeze, the line gets hot and worns itself out with stress and surface tension of the hook. saliva helps that too =)

@damnwindowshopper if you dont moisten it it will create friction and the line could get nicked or cut when you tighten it and u could lose the fish

Sorry this might be a dumb question but why do you have to moisten it before clinching???..

XXsclausmanXX 1 year ago
u dont have to pull really hard because its heavy line, u pull real hard because u didnt lube up the knot before sinching..spit on it dennis spit

This is the worst technique to tie a fishing hook if you use 4lb or 6lb line.

I can't believe some of you are just now hearing about this knot.
It should be the first, and maybe the only knot, you should've learned and used.
But you must be a bunch of Yankee people or something.
Probably not even bass fishing.
Just use correct grammar, people.
