I agree!! Totally different kinda style and a whole different level than the younger ones today.. Old school sangers could steal your attention by their voice, guitar and expression on their faces cuz you could feel the song they were singing by those three things alone..
I'm a long time country fan from Nashville, but I must say that regardless of genre, this is really just unbelievably good stuff. What a great artist.
I dont think that I have ever heard this song before and I think its cool .I havent listen to country and western before and I am sure it fits in to that category.
i was a rambaling man when i was younger banged all over the country joined the milatery at 18 then was all over the place again when i got out but oklahoma was always one of my favorate states and i have a lot of fin here that is why it hurt me to say what i said please see msbones1950 for more info
This is one of my favourite songs..reminds me of my dad. Mum stole me away from him when I was 9, and I never saw him again. From what I hear, he never let no woman tie him down..and I bet he never got too old to get around (I had about 15 half sisters when I was a kid, who knows now). Miss you Dad. Thanks for sharing this clip :)
@MrDogoman Thank you :) It's just great that people share things like this, and many of us get to relive good memories! Really appreciate your words MrDogoman.

@909830 I would agree with your statement. However, Roy retired in 1987. He had a stroke in '96 and could no longer play. He died of a heart attack in 2001. I say this with my hat off. Clapton, Van Halen, Nichols... I'll take Nichols, please.
this IS country music , this is when the entertainers could sing and play vs the junk out nowdays. The best era was from the mid 70s-late 90s in my opinion, it was more of an art than it is nowdays
@Mattea68 I agree to a point on the mid 70s to late 90s except I like the late 50s to mid 80s. The stuff before the late 50s all sounded like the same banjo picking tunes to me. When the late 50s came along each singer and song writer pretty much had their own sounds and writing styles. Then it went to shit somewhere around the late 80s to early 90s and has been there ever since.
@Johi2410 Thank you I was not sure. I remember this show too. Ralph did a show called Nashville Now and this show and one other but I do not remember the name of it might have been The Ralph Emery show? These and the Ronnie Profit show and a few others were the good old country. I think Glen had a show and Johnny and the Mandrells and Marty had one too I think.
Where I live, it is all modern country, all the time. So many areas however have some classic country radio program, and I'm lucky if I can here something from Alabama much less Merle, Waylon, Willie, Jones, or Cash.
@HHSGDFootballJPD :( I feel ya! Its the same where I live too. Though when I go visit my husbands parents, they have a station that plays classic country so I can at least hear it then. :) But yeah, it sucks, I can't stand modern country, after I listen to the older stuff, it just feels fake and plastic. :( It sucks. :(
Agreed! This man is irreplaceable in country music. God gifted him with an untouchable talent. He is my favorite country/western musician! Plus, he writes such great music.
@heatseeker213 I wouldnt go that far, the king of Country Music will always be Roy Acuff and Merle would be first to tell ya that, thought merle is next in line behind Roy
