i first heard this when i was on tour in Afghanistan...a new guy in our section was playing a cd his sister made for him after we`d finished a patrol...we all just sat in silence listening to it,it was so peaceful if only for a short while until the inevitable happened again....we didn't know who made it and now ive found it,Thomas newman is a firm favourite.

@lionsleadbydonkeys Thats a cool story of how you first heard it. I got the CD as a gift when I was real sick with croup. 0:39-0:50 was the last thing I remember hearing on the way to the ER as I went out of consciousness, and the first thing I listened to on the way home.

You might also want to check out "Rain Hammers" from the movie "Road to Perdition", by Thomas Newman. Not similar persay, but I love it and love Newman. And thanks for your service.

yep, i am a 52 year old macho biker and i love to watch this movie all over again and cry at the end too. It is a timeless piece and the whole array of acting is incredible. I love the scene when the son in law cries because he thinks he is a failure and Joe comforts him..................
