i am a former military police officer. i have both a 1911 and Beretta 92D (basically a version of the M9 with a few very minor changes) i enjoy shooting both but i am more prone to shoot the 92D because as a MP i was trained on and carried the M9 as my duty weapon both on the road and on missions so it holds a special place in my heart. dont get me wrong i love them both but i scored expert with the M9 more times than i can count and every time i needed it the M9 did the job and did it very well
simple fact is I shoot an enemy in the shoulder with a 9mm he could still keep coming. I shoot him in the shoulder with a .45 ACP and it will spin him around and probably knock him down, giving him time to seriously reconsider getting back up.
why have to fire 3 rounds with a 9mm to accomplish what you can do with one .45 ACP?
@AMDfreak27 because in most critical situations you would not be able to aim effectively nor accurately, as WW2 situation reports from both Soviet and American shown that due to intensity of combat and moving targets accuracy becomes irrelevant and volume of fire is the determining factor in firefights.
simple fact is those 3 9mm you dispersed are more likely to hit the enemy while the 45 acp is more likely to miss. the 15 round in the m9 is better in combat
@dsspike51 The M9 Beretta is actually built in Accoceek (spelling maybe off) Maryland a lil ways south of DC. A requirment for the military contract is the pistol had to be built in the US.

Smoother function? Words that sound like they came from somebody who has never shot either (common on You Tube) The 1911 is literally famous for an action that literally cannot be matched by other pistol designs no matter that you do to them, just one of the reasons why it still dominates the Unlimited class in competitive shooting.
As for more rounds, the idea of the military sidearms is supposed to be easy to carry and effective backup to a rifle. The USP is needlessly huge.
@1978BHO Do you really want to talk trash over the internet? From my experiences shooting an M1911 and an HK Compact USP, I felt that the USP had a smoother slide and was easier to follow-through with. A full-size, standard USP isn't that big. It's smaller than the M1911 AND M9, so I honestly don't know what you are talking about. Plus, it's like half the weight of a 1911.
And while I'm not a fan of competition shooting, I rarely see 1911's...I see Glocks more than anything else.
It's obvious that you aren't especially experienced here, and that is fine....but you have to be willing to realize that you don't know what you don't know and be willing to learn. It's worth the effort.
As for size. Both the USP and M9 are much wider than any model 1911. In terms of handgun size, width is huge.
As for Glock pistols in competition. Glocks are common in some classes of competition, but are virtually nonexistent in the top classes because they aren't competitive.
@1978BHO Dude, you're seriously going to act like a pompous asshole? Did you not comprehend what I posted? In my OPINION, the USP handled much smoother than the 1911. I'm not criticizing your opinion of thinking a 1911 is better, I'm just stating what I've seen.
So what if the USP is wider? It's an excellent pistol. It's cousin the Mk. 23 is almost the same size and that's being used, or at least was (I heard something about phasing them out) by special forces.
SOCOM was never happy the Mk23, in fact that design basically just sat on the shelf after it's so called adoption by SOCOM. Why? You guessed it, it's just too big to be useful. The USP is a good deal smaller, and in fact part of the USP's reason for being is to provide a smaller pistol than the Mk23 (not hard to do). That said, the USP is still really wide compared to a 1911, which still completely destroys your argument that the 1911 is 'too big' from a practical viewpoint.
@1978BHO Dude...nowhere did I say that the 1911 was too big...I said the USP was smaller in length...that's all. Stop assuming and making things up. So far, you're only argument to my OPINION (Key word) is that the USP is wide....That still doesn't affect the fact that it's a solid and reliable sidearm. Or that in my opinion, it is easier to shoot, follow-through, and maintain excellent accuracy.
the M9 should enjoy its last few years as standard side arm cause the Army has starte a program to replace it the JCP(joint Combat Pistol)started with USSOCOM and now the whole Army is involved.the new pistol has to be .45ACP and one of the pistols is an M1911
Im sorry but fuck the M9 its shit i used it once and it felt like i was driving a eco car thats slow as hell. i love the M1911 it feels like im driving a 1968/69 Charger SRT/8 with out a sound de-toner and a bigger amount of power going down a 1/4 of a mile drag strip race with a 69 Chevy with the same thing done to it. Amaricana BABY ALL THE WAY!!! if you think the same way give me a HELL YA (and a thums up)!!! but if not dont even send a msg.
I like both the 9MM and the .45ACP. In the end there are two things to remember. The first is to have a gun. The second is to be able to hit with it. I can hit with my Beretta M9, my Colt 1911, and my Glock G17.
Ha ha ha ... hey! :-)... do not lose wars because of the small sizes, if they are small are also lighter and fired more quickly, since the mass increases with the square of the speed gains in the end we even over long distances, where the cartridges also suffered heavy losses because of the weight. After all if something does not work just because of something else, means are the same for almost everyone at least ,guns and rifles ... or not ? But make no mistake I would not do wars. ;-)
People kill me always talking about stopping power. If you shoot somebody in the head wit any size bullet they're gonna be fucked up. I have a .45 and I'm gonna get a M9 because they are way cheaper to shoot. 100 rds of 9mm = $20. 50 rds of .45acp = $28 you do the math. All of the debating about bullet size is pointless. Just shoot him in the head and you will all be a ok
@AirsoftAzn the reloading he is talking about is where you take the shell casing and "reload" it with another primer, gun powder and bullet. Its a lot cheaper since you do the work yourself and reuse the expensive brass casings.
i prefer m1911a1 but honestly guys if you can hit your target any gun will do all the accual talk of guns and versatility and shit is good but honestly unless you trying to sell the danm thing it doesnt matter like the samurai said the sword is only as strong as its master
@gunfun1990 The .50 action express is an overpriced cartridge that does not have much more power then the .44 magnum. Its weight and recoil and low carrying capacity means it is probably the worst weapon for combat situations.
@GunsOfThePhoenix Only problem with that is that most bullet proof vests are designed to stop up to a .44 Mag., and .50AE goes through 'em like nothing...
@SPeacock The .357 is okay, however very few people still use revolvers in combat, a notable exception being the Navy Seals which have the S&W 686 magnum in .357 if they need it.
@GunsOfThePhoenix I see. Never understood the appeal of revolvers (except for the Colt Single Action Army) - I just asked about the .357 Magnum because of its use in the Desert Eagle (which I think is OK but by no means a combat handgun - it's good for showing off).
@SPeacock "Never understood the appeal of revolvers"
Utter reliability due to simplicity.
Despite the limited capacity of the drum, you may agree that semi-auto malfunctions are totally unheard of with a revolver.
Quick reloads with a revolver is achievable with good training and practice along with the proper equipment (speed loaders, moon clips or half-moon clips).
Now, I'm not saying that semi-auto pistols are bad; there are semi-autos that are reliable enough to stake your life on, but revolvers will have an edge because their simplicity makes them less prone to malfunction.
However, revolvers do have their own set of disadvantages compared to semi-auto pistols, particularly size for the caliber as the drum makes for a wider pistol, which makes concealment potentially more awkward.
I'm 12 years old when I fired the M1911 and the M9, the M9 is bullshit I can't hit the center of the target but the M1911, I owned 2 center shots with it even in one hand.
@LtNomad120mm you most likely didn't use a proper shooting stance, but a experienced shooter would MOST Likely (Not saying all of them do.) choose the m9 because of it being lighter and holding more rounds. plus in a combat situation the m9 could provide an edge to someone using a m1911, and its easier to field strip and clean thats why it came after the m1911 and is one of the main side arms of the u.s. military.
@LtNomad120mm "Small dickey round"? a small dicky round is a 22. cal if you get shot with a 9 mm it still has a chance to kill you, but in every day self defense you could use a 45. that is if you could conceal it... although for home defense it would be great. each pistol has its pros and cons, its your personal preference but don't talk trash about its competitor if you don't know exactly what it can do.
@LtNomad120mm "the M9 is bullshit I can't hit the center of the target but the M1911"
If you're 12, that may explain something.
You may have smaller hands and an M1911 has a slimmer grip that's easier to hold than the M9.
The M9 tends to have a wide grip owing to the pistol's large size relative to the caliber and to accommodate its staggered column magazine, making it a challenge for smaller hands to hold it correctly and to properly manipulate the controls, including the trigger.
@XvChriisvX Both are combat accurate guns in my opinion. Perhaps one who isn't familar with firearms might shoot the Beretta better because it has less recoil. I shoot both pretty well though.
@esh325 i shot a 1911 probably once lol, and i own a tuarus clone of a 92FS, i dont shoot it much either, i like carbines, i fail so badly with pistols, and i dont like bench shooting, i like standing and kneeling and laying down with long range scoped rifles xD
@Watcher3223 u have made a very good point but like i said i never said it was a bad gun just look at the stats like i said but u do got a point most the time u use a pistol your well in its intended range so hey mostly dependeds on the user
when I joined the Army, we originally trained on the 1911.. then transitioned to the M9. I prefer the M9 because it is far more accurate and holds more bullets. I own a stainless steel M9. Love it. It just feels good when you hold it in your hand. The usual reaction on holding it is "damn that feels good." anyway, just my two cents worth. I own an M9, qualified Expert on the 1911 and I have never played Call of Duty or Modern Warfare.
@ascheylus-Thanks, I believe you, admire you, but above all envy you! I know it's very well madeweapon, like the look but the most important thing to me is the ergonomics guessed that makes her feel comfortable. To my knowledge, has flaws. I have no weapon but among those I know prefer this or the CZ 75, very similar and good construction. I hate the polymers, all that plastic ,even though they are fine weapons, is aging with time and do not fix it, instead of iron.
what a military needs, its an austrian pistol. Glocks does a way better job than M9's. Same 9mm, holds more than 15 bullets (depending on glock models), very lightweight since its made out of hi-polymer plastic rather than metal.
id rather have the m9 even though its smaller in caliber it has more rounds. the m1911 has more fire power but only has 7 rounds just one more than a standard revolver.
glocks only carry more rounds becuase most of them are using a double length clip, it IS lighter than the m9 , but thats becuase its almost ALL plastic, and that makes it anything but durable, the only reason glocks in business is becuase the damn things are so friggin cheap to manufacture, i still want my 1911 back but the glocks just retarded
If your going to make me carry a 9 mm give me a Glock its lighter, carries more rounds, and is ten times more durable and reliable than that M9. But please give me my damn 1911
@pringles509 Yeah thats what I love about the Marines they know their weapons. For a 1911 pistol I think they use a Kimber instead of a Army prefered Springfield. I owned Springfield 1911's and xd's not impressed with them so got rid of em. Their replacememt I would like to find would be a KImber
@pringles509 You can carry your own M1911, if you are in the regular Marines unit. beside, no any jar heads sons of bitches would ever want an M9 on his hand.
2:18 this may be a stupid question but what is the purpose of the cord attached to the M9?

The m9 is beast but nothin beats the DE .50
gunfun1990 10 months ago
@gunfun1990 The .50 action express is an overpriced cartridge that does not have much more power then the .44 magnum. Its weight and recoil and low carrying capacity means it is probably the worst weapon for combat situations.
GunsOfThePhoenix 9 months ago
@GunsOfThePhoenix Only problem with that is that most bullet proof vests are designed to stop up to a .44 Mag., and .50AE goes through 'em like nothing...

@GunsOfThePhoenix What's your opinion on the .357 Magnum? I like it but it's kind of overshadowed by the .44 Magnum.
SPeacock 9 months ago
@SPeacock The .357 is okay, however very few people still use revolvers in combat, a notable exception being the Navy Seals which have the S&W 686 magnum in .357 if they need it.
GunsOfThePhoenix 9 months ago
@GunsOfThePhoenix I see. Never understood the appeal of revolvers (except for the Colt Single Action Army) - I just asked about the .357 Magnum because of its use in the Desert Eagle (which I think is OK but by no means a combat handgun - it's good for showing off).
SPeacock 9 months ago
@SPeacock "Never understood the appeal of revolvers"
Utter reliability due to simplicity.
Despite the limited capacity of the drum, you may agree that semi-auto malfunctions are totally unheard of with a revolver.
Quick reloads with a revolver is achievable with good training and practice along with the proper equipment (speed loaders, moon clips or half-moon clips).
Watcher3223 7 months ago
@SPeacock
Watcher3223 7 months ago
I'm 12 years old when I fired the M1911 and the M9, the M9 is bullshit I can't hit the center of the target but the M1911, I owned 2 center shots with it even in one hand.
LtNomad120mm 11 months ago
@LtNomad120mm .45 maybe slow, but in hand of great shooter it can be far too lethal.
1stMarineCapt 11 months ago
@LtNomad120mm you most likely didn't use a proper shooting stance, but a experienced shooter would MOST Likely (Not saying all of them do.) choose the m9 because of it being lighter and holding more rounds. plus in a combat situation the m9 could provide an edge to someone using a m1911, and its easier to field strip and clean thats why it came after the m1911 and is one of the main side arms of the u.s. military.
k3n11 10 months ago
@k3n11 I have an instructor right by my side that time, I just sucked firing a gun that fires a small dicky round.
LtNomad120mm 10 months ago
@LtNomad120mm "Small dickey round"? a small dicky round is a 22. cal if you get shot with a 9 mm it still has a chance to kill you, but in every day self defense you could use a 45. that is if you could conceal it... although for home defense it would be great. each pistol has its pros and cons, its your personal preference but don't talk trash about its competitor if you don't know exactly what it can do.
k3n11 10 months ago
@LtNomad120mm "the M9 is bullshit I can't hit the center of the target but the M1911"
If you're 12, that may explain something.
You may have smaller hands and an M1911 has a slimmer grip that's easier to hold than the M9.
The M9 tends to have a wide grip owing to the pistol's large size relative to the caliber and to accommodate its staggered column magazine, making it a challenge for smaller hands to hold it correctly and to properly manipulate the controls, including the trigger.

dam at 0:55 his wrist looks like its going to snap xD
ive never shot a 1911 so i cant say anything about it but look at the odds
m9= more rounds, more accurate, less recoil
1911= more fire power, less rounds, less accurate, more recoil
i think the odds stand against the 1911 but for wat i heard its still a very dam good weapon so im not judgeing
choas1211 1 year ago
@choas1211 what makes the gun more accurate? the sights? some people can drill nails with a 1911, accuracy is in the shooter, not the gun
XvChriisvX 11 months ago
@XvChriisvX Both are combat accurate guns in my opinion. Perhaps one who isn't familar with firearms might shoot the Beretta better because it has less recoil. I shoot both pretty well though.
esh325 11 months ago
@esh325 i shot a 1911 probably once lol, and i own a tuarus clone of a 92FS, i dont shoot it much either, i like carbines, i fail so badly with pistols, and i dont like bench shooting, i like standing and kneeling and laying down with long range scoped rifles xD

"1911= more fire power, less rounds, less accurate, more recoil"
Actually, in good condition, the M1911 is among the more accurate semi auto pistols available.
That said, the majority of pistols made are going to be accurate enough within their intended range so long as the weapon is in good condition.
Therefore, if inaccuracy is present, it's likely going to be the shooter that's the problem.
Watcher3223 7 months ago
@Watcher3223 u have made a very good point but like i said i never said it was a bad gun just look at the stats like i said but u do got a point most the time u use a pistol your well in its intended range so hey mostly dependeds on the user
choas1211 7 months ago
I would rather have better amount of ammunition insead of a gun with less ammo and just a tad bit more stopping power.
I have shot both the 1911 remington 45. and 9mm.
I own a M92fs. I prefer the M92 insead due to more ammo and lighter ammo.

when I joined the Army, we originally trained on the 1911.. then transitioned to the M9. I prefer the M9 because it is far more accurate and holds more bullets. I own a stainless steel M9. Love it. It just feels good when you hold it in your hand. The usual reaction on holding it is "damn that feels good." anyway, just my two cents worth. I own an M9, qualified Expert on the 1911 and I have never played Call of Duty or Modern Warfare.
ascheylus 1 year ago 18
@ascheylus I only wish I could fire the 1911 so I could get a feel for it and compare the two. I only qualified for the M9.
crazy4sian 1 year ago
@ascheylus-Thanks, I believe you, admire you, but above all envy you! I know it's very well madeweapon, like the look but the most important thing to me is the ergonomics guessed that makes her feel comfortable. To my knowledge, has flaws. I have no weapon but among those I know prefer this or the CZ 75, very similar and good construction. I hate the polymers, all that plastic ,even though they are fine weapons, is aging with time and do not fix it, instead of iron.
hornets599 8 months ago
@ascheylus
what a military needs, its an austrian pistol. Glocks does a way better job than M9's. Same 9mm, holds more than 15 bullets (depending on glock models), very lightweight since its made out of hi-polymer plastic rather than metal.
Its a more versatile gun.
441meatloaf 8 months ago
@441meatloaf Theyll never adopt a glock because of the lack of an external safety.

misterhindu 1 year ago
glocks only carry more rounds becuase most of them are using a double length clip, it IS lighter than the m9 , but thats becuase its almost ALL plastic, and that makes it anything but durable, the only reason glocks in business is becuase the damn things are so friggin cheap to manufacture, i still want my 1911 back but the glocks just retarded
ILikeToShootZombies 1 year ago
If your going to make me carry a 9 mm give me a Glock its lighter, carries more rounds, and is ten times more durable and reliable than that M9. But please give me my damn 1911

@pringles509 Yeah thats what I love about the Marines they know their weapons. For a 1911 pistol I think they use a Kimber instead of a Army prefered Springfield. I owned Springfield 1911's and xd's not impressed with them so got rid of em. Their replacememt I would like to find would be a KImber
