@alexguayyy yep! by making the mouse invisible n the options, then creating an object that follows your mouse position (using jump to). if you have pro you can just use the mouse changing function though :p

What, this style of game? um, no. it's called TDS; top down shooter, because you look from the top of the view, downwards. An RTS, like you said, is a different kind of game completely
hey im trying to make a top down shooter, but im tyring to figure out how to make the bullet come from the person?
So ive made it that when i press the spacebar the bullet appears and moves but its only at a fixed position in room, so how do i get it to come out from the player?
make sure that you have the shooting correct, so when you press space bar the object bullet is created by the player object (from the player's origin) and on the object bullet, you have it moving towards the mouse at speed 20 or whatever.
that would meen you only look where you move, so when you shoot the bullets would come out your sides and back, unless you make the bullets go where the player is facing
I don't know how to make enemies shoot directly at you, but I know how to make them face you and follow you until they are at a certain distance from you. I could either send the codes, or a video :)
yeh, I'm not that great at enemy AI, so just watch flyingsausagepro's videos for that. also I can't be bothered to make a video that has already been done by a game maker genius :p
One thing you could do to make it cooler is like do something with the "Set Cursor" thingy and make a little more game-like cursor or something? Idk can you do that?

if you leave out the "image_angle=point_direction(x, y,mouse_x,mouse_y) " it works on the lite edition. The only problem is the man doesnt face where you shoot.

As my new knowledge I think you need to go to the create event and type can_shoot = 0 or can_shoot = 1 or can_shoot = true or false.

yeah you can use that. just make a good crosshair/pointer sprite, and in the set cursor action set the sprite to that.
