I've tried something similar on a bus. I pretended to fall over and hit the perspex barrier (hard) protecting the driver. I said (at once) "it's ok" while flashing the driver a joker card feigning a bus pass . It's worked everytime so far!
When I removed the "it's ok" statement, it didn't work. Also when I removed hitting the screen, it didn't work. Not very scientific, I know, but it seems to me that in this situation the interrupt and embedded command appear to work.

When they'd come with the drinks and ask for payment, I'd knock on the counter hard and say 'I just did". And I got free drinks.

My problem with this and Derren Brown's work in general is, that it can be more easily explained by a staged act to create the illusion of 'mind tricks' (not unlikely for Derren's acts).
And since hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming are not scientifically proven nor does Derren ever explains his 'mind-bending technic', Ockham's razor advises to believe it is staged to create a great TV show.
Sometimes the 'suggestions' are way to obvious to make me believe they can alter people's minds.
I'm not lying. No study conducted on this phenomenon ever proved any significant correlation. But that doesn't necessarily mean, that there is nothing to neuro-linguistic programming or hypnosis. Just that it cannot be proven. Maybe further research will find evidence for it some day.
And as long as there is no prove I will not consider it true. Nor will I consider it untrue. I have to work with what I got and that's not much.

That Darren Brown is amazing. I met a guy named Darren, who had a funny accent. He talked to me for about 2-3 minutes and before I knew it, I was taking my clothes off. I did all sorts of strange thing for him, and Im not gay!

My problem with this and Derren Brown's work in general is, that it can be more easily explained by a staged act to create the illusion of 'mind tricks' (not unlikely for Derren's acts).
And since hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming are not scientifically proven nor does Derren ever explains his 'mind-bending technic', Ockham's razor advises to believe it is staged to create a great TV show.
Sometimes the 'suggestions' are way to obvious to make me believe they can alter people's minds.

I'm not lying. No study conducted on this phenomenon ever proved any significant correlation. But that doesn't necessarily mean, that there is nothing to neuro-linguistic programming or hypnosis. Just that it cannot be proven. Maybe further research will find evidence for it some day.
And as long as there is no prove I will not consider it true. Nor will I consider it untrue. I have to work with what I got and that's not much.
