Lemons can only prevent new kidney stones from forming: you can't dissolve existing kidney stones, you can only pass them once they are formed or get surgery to break them up or retrieve them.Lemons are important along with lots of water.
I've been on potassium citrate for 6 years, has it helped with my stones? NOPE! Now I have a hulking 2cm stone, yes 2 CENTIMETERS! Have to go in one day next week for Lithotripsy.
Yesterday I tried the calcium citrate, 2 tablets, 4 hours later I went to pee, and at the end I peed witheish cloudy sandy urine and felt burning sensation while peeing, but no discomfort at all...I'd like to know if any other person had success with it. I am not sure if I dissolved the stones or if it was the supplement, I will take for 1 week every day 2 tablets and then check myself again..
@BrokenRRT@de6430 I drinked 2 tablets at night and next day I peed white urine, sandy... i stopped because it can constipate (the one i purchased does not have magnesium), so stop... i havent been helping with diet to be honest.. am feeling some discomfort still, will take today again, 2 more tablets and will post back... i suggest other people try to see diff experiences as to see if works or not, am been honest here., nothing to sell or promote..i peed white, sandy and it was hot.

From what I've seen on another video here on YouTube, what you did would not likely work. According to the video I saw, it is not until the lemon juice is consumed and somehow converted by the body from an acid into an alkaline (potassium citrate, I believe it was) that it has any effect on softening the stones. Merely dropping the stone in lemon juice would have no beneficial effect.
I went and found the video for you that I was referring to. Look up "Dr. David Goldfarb on Lemon Juice and Urine pH". That's the video that I watched, where the process is somewhat explained.
Leave OUT the sugar. And it has to be from freshly squeezed lemons, NOT from a packet of powder, or from concentrate. The important thing is to get enough of the lemons into your body over a short period of time. So a big pitcher of lemonade made with just a lemon or two is not enough to substitute for a big bag of lemons. Otherwise, it is not sufficient to soften the stones.
Once kidney stones are formed, they do not dissolve by drinking lemon aid. The citric acid in the lemons is what prevents oxalate from entering the bloodstream. Thus lemons can only prevent stones made of oxalate, and is why it is good to drink substances high in citric acid. There are other kinds of stones, but calcium oxalate are the most common.
kimchimann....thanks for your inspiration. I've been working on a 3mm stone for about 6 weeks now. Pain has subsided since it is no longer in my ureter, but now it has been in my bladder. Gotta pee all the time. It's keeping my bladder irritated and the doc even gave me antibiotics thinking I might have a bladder infection. You'd think they'd do a UA to find out first. Anyway...long story short...I did the lemon juice thing and after my eighth glass of "lemonade" I plop out a stone. Thanks man!

18 months ago I experienced my first kidney stone pain. The pain was excruciating. The hospital found a 5mm kidney stone that was on its way down to my bladder and a couple more just waiting. I drink either a glass of orange juice a day or lemonade, I add lemon to my sweet tea, and really just eat lemons whenever i can, and i haven't passed any big painful ones since i started. i'm trying to piss one out right now, and it doesn't feel too big but it doesn't wanna go anywhere. if all else fails the lemons will keep you entertained for a little bit and take your mind off the pain!

Believe him, I did this for two months and pass an 8 mm stone. I had a 2.5 cm in right kidney, had ultrasound twice and this 8 mm remaind inside. I drank a small cup of pure lemon in the morning and night, and also put an egg with his shell on the lemon juice for two hours, the lemon disolves the shell and then you drink that. It really works.
LEMON Juice works because like any other member of the CITRUS FAMILY, Lemon contains lots of citrates. Normal kidneys produce enough citrates in the urine to prevent stone formation. Stone formers tend to have low level of natural citrates in the urine. This categorizes citrate as substance that naturally inhibits kidney stones... it's a stone inhibitor.
Potassium Citrate tablets can do the trick but Lemon is natural and also packed with vitamins A-D-E-C and fibers.

Just got out of hospital after day of agony. Doctor sent me home with pain killers and advice to drink 3 quarts of water per day and drink straight lemon juice (no sugar). He told me 80% of people pass kidney stones on their own. Mine is 5.6 cm. He also sent me home with strainer / portable urine collector. I have appointment in 3 weeks to discuss procedure. I hope lemon juice works.......... I'll let you know. I'm on Day 6.
@MrsScatCat Your stone could not be 5.6 cm. It's probably just 5.6 mm that's why your doctor gave you water therapy and alkalinizing agent, that is the citrates from your Lemon Juice. The usual threshold size the kidney stone can pass without much problem is about 5 mm diameter. The bigger the stone gets the more it becomes trapped in the ureter as it tries to pass out into the urinary bladder and out since the ureter tapers down as it enters the urinary bladder.
@SmartBigBrother It's almost been a month and 2 gal of water per day and tons of lemon juice. The doctor and nurse said it was pretty large and showed me the ruler for size and mentioned 5.6. I was pretty out of it on morphine. It is still in the ureter and may require surgery at this point because nothing is moving it. I had one episode and hurled water and coffee since I can't hold down solid food at this point. Ugh - this is so miserable.

Had a catheter type device inserted post surgery to keep uterer from collapsing entirely from stone damage. Device came out today and left cramps. Blood is less now. I've been drinking water and straight lemon juice since June. Must drink 64 ounces of water per day and I'm doing the lemons, too. Still sore, cramping, bleeding and trying to rest. BTW, I'm a sis.

Does not work. I took the stone I passed and put it in a shot glass of lemon juice and after two days of soaking, it did nothing to the stone. Nothing at all, and yes it was an oxilate stone. I cannot believe these people did not try this test instead of drinking the juice.
Of course it did nothing. That's not how it's supposed to work. According to what I've been told, the citric acid from the lemon juice get CONVERTED into potassium citrate inside the body; it is the potassium citrate (an alkaline, if I'm not mistaken), and NOT the citric acid (obviously an acid) that is said to dissolve, or at least soften, the kidney stones. Putting the stone in a glass of juice would have the opposite effect, if any effect at all.
Good question - why not indeed? Maybe I'll look into doing that. I do know a guy who has medulary sponge kidney (his kidneys pretty much make stones full time, so he's always in pain from them); he takes potassium citrate. Yeah, I think I will check that one out.
@CuriousKimification I drank alot of water the night before, and the next morning I drank half a pot of coffee, and was taking flomax. That got it moving down the pipe, and that's when the pain began. The stone was 5 mm big, and caused me ALOT of pain. I was dry heaving and and nausea for 4-5 hours. Morphine help alot, and they gave me someting for the nausea as well. but by the time they got the scans and figured it out, it was almost in my bladder so they never stuck a catheter in.
Did this work? I want to know cuz Im going to try it. Im only 21 and Ive never had stones, but im not taking any chances. Theres no way in hell im pissing out a rock.
Don't know yet. It'll be years before I know if it works for me, as I usually get the stones every four years. I had the last one two years ago. So I figure I have to go at least another three our four years without a stone before I can say anything.

yay im getting detoxed, i ate nothing all day drank some water then drank 2 cups of lemon juice and some more water after that, my stomach was bubbling and i was feeling pain and a liitle sick, half hour later i drank some more water, felt sick, vomited and when i looked at the vomit i saw some rocks and was surprized i even vomited and more surprized seeing rocks, im planning on not eating anything for 2 days and doing the same thing til i start to feel better

@rbdomo52From what I have investigated humans should only eat in similar groups for example citric fruits with citric fruits and citric fruits so the stomach could create an activate acids and enzymes specially for that food ,then wait like 3 hours before eating anything else. If you eat after drinking the juice you are cutting the flow of the potassium and other compounds and cutting the absorbtion of nutriens of the food creating more stress and acids,but thats just menota doctor buthealthfan!
Apparently it's NOT the acid, per se. The citric acid (I've been told) gets converted into potassium citrate, which apparently counteracts the acid environment that forms stones. But don't quote me on that; I'm just parroting what others have said.

If you mean bottled lemon juice (eg: Real Lemon) from a store, all I can tell you is that I don't know. I suspect that it would not be as effective. I'm sorry you're in such pain.

I just got out of hospital had surgical proceedure to put in a double j hook stent to hold in place (so the doctor says) a 16mm kidney stone that has caused me severe pain since January, its now Aug. nOW I HAVE pain and discomfort coming from the stent being inside seperate from the stone. I have no insurance no coverage which sucks now im at the mercy of going to an emergency room to follow up. but that hospital had no Litho equip to blast stone Now must go to Hos that has, via emergency room!

I didn't measure mine; it was measured by an X ray reading, as far as I know. I still have the stone, as a keepsake, but I don't want to measure it, or even look at it, lol.

Ive heard about the lemon helping to stop producing stones altogether. But I use the bottled lemon juice and water. Just started this on a daily basis, hoping it works!!!
I don't know if there's a 'right' way to do it, but I try to take the juice with an empty stomach, so that it won't get wasted by interacting with other food, etc.

@bipdas Ya, many of my parents' friends easily passed their stones by drinking lemon juice too. I think it was like 6 or 12 per day for 5 or 10 days...
one teaspoon of cream of tartar ( available in the spice section at grocery store). Works in 24 hours guaranteed. Mix the cream of tartar in a glass of lemonade.
I was diagnosed with a 6mm stone in January 2009 and tried the Coke, Asparagus, and Distilled Water method. It relieved the pain after about an hour and I was OK for several months but an Xray confirmed the stone was still there. I tried the lemon juice method too but still have the stone. I have no insurance so having surgery was not an option and the symptoms faded until March 2010 when they returned. Be sure to brush your teeth after drinking lemon juice because the acid is bad for teeth.
@kimchiman1000 I squeezed around 20 I think and drank a full glass of the pure juice followed by lots of water. I did this about 3 times until I ran out of juice. It made me pee but the stone is still there. At 6mm I was told I will need a procedure done to remove it. With Obama's new health plan reform that passed Sunday, hopefully I will now be able to get insurance even with this pre-existing condition.

I drink either a glass of orange juice a day or lemonade, I add lemon to my sweet tea, and really just eat lemons whenever i can, and i haven't passed any big painful ones since i started. i'm trying to piss one out right now, and it doesn't feel too big but it doesn't wanna go anywhere. if all else fails the lemons will keep you entertained for a little bit and take your mind off the pain!

Believe him, I did this for two months and pass an 8 mm stone. I had a 2.5 cm in right kidney, had ultrasound twice and this 8 mm remaind inside. I drank a small cup of pure lemon in the morning and night, and also put an egg with his shell on the lemon juice for two hours, the lemon disolves the shell and then you drink that. It really works.

LEMON Juice works because like any other member of the CITRUS FAMILY, Lemon contains lots of citrates. Normal kidneys produce enough citrates in the urine to prevent stone formation. Stone formers tend to have low level of natural citrates in the urine. This categorizes citrate as substance that naturally inhibits kidney stones... it's a stone inhibitor.
Potassium Citrate tablets can do the trick but Lemon is natural and also packed with vitamins A-D-E-C and fibers.
Hydration is a must.

Just got out of hospital after day of agony. Doctor sent me home with pain killers and advice to drink 3 quarts of water per day and drink straight lemon juice (no sugar). He told me 80% of people pass kidney stones on their own. Mine is 5.6 cm. He also sent me home with strainer / portable urine collector. I have appointment in 3 weeks to discuss procedure. I hope lemon juice works.......... I'll let you know. I'm on Day 6.

@MrsScatCat Your stone could not be 5.6 cm. It's probably just 5.6 mm that's why your doctor gave you water therapy and alkalinizing agent, that is the citrates from your Lemon Juice. The usual threshold size the kidney stone can pass without much problem is about 5 mm diameter. The bigger the stone gets the more it becomes trapped in the ureter as it tries to pass out into the urinary bladder and out since the ureter tapers down as it enters the urinary bladder.

@SmartBigBrother It's almost been a month and 2 gal of water per day and tons of lemon juice. The doctor and nurse said it was pretty large and showed me the ruler for size and mentioned 5.6. I was pretty out of it on morphine. It is still in the ureter and may require surgery at this point because nothing is moving it. I had one episode and hurled water and coffee since I can't hold down solid food at this point. Ugh - this is so miserable.

Vomiting, nausea and pain continue. I believe the doctor might need to do a procedure.
Appt is on August 5 and this is pure agony. The nurse is telling me to come back into the ER again.

@sandejai Procedure last Tuesday.Doc confirmed stone was too big to pass.
Had a catheter type device inserted post surgery to keep uterer from collapsing entirely from stone damage. Device came out today and left cramps. Blood is less now. I've been drinking water and straight lemon juice since June. Must drink 64 ounces of water per day and I'm doing the lemons, too. Still sore, cramping, bleeding and trying to rest. BTW, I'm a sis.

Does not work. I took the stone I passed and put it in a shot glass of lemon juice and after two days of soaking, it did nothing to the stone. Nothing at all, and yes it was an oxilate stone. I cannot believe these people did not try this test instead of drinking the juice.

Of course it did nothing. That's not how it's supposed to work. According to what I've been told, the citric acid from the lemon juice get CONVERTED into potassium citrate inside the body; it is the potassium citrate (an alkaline, if I'm not mistaken), and NOT the citric acid (obviously an acid) that is said to dissolve, or at least soften, the kidney stones. Putting the stone in a glass of juice would have the opposite effect, if any effect at all.

Good question - why not indeed? Maybe I'll look into doing that. I do know a guy who has medulary sponge kidney (his kidneys pretty much make stones full time, so he's always in pain from them); he takes potassium citrate. Yeah, I think I will check that one out.

@CuriousKimification I drank alot of water the night before, and the next morning I drank half a pot of coffee, and was taking flomax. That got it moving down the pipe, and that's when the pain began. The stone was 5 mm big, and caused me ALOT of pain. I was dry heaving and and nausea for 4-5 hours. Morphine help alot, and they gave me someting for the nausea as well. but by the time they got the scans and figured it out, it was almost in my bladder so they never stuck a catheter in.

Don't know yet. It'll be years before I know if it works for me, as I usually get the stones every four years. I had the last one two years ago. So I figure I have to go at least another three our four years without a stone before I can say anything.

I highly recommend everyone too look to Andrea Moritz books specially "Timeless Secrets of Health and Rejuvenation" just go to amazon and see how many 5 stars it has, I also recommend some research in curezone (dot) co m just look for liver or kidney stones in the search tab ,also in amazon you can read lots of amazing reviews about the cures , another author I recommend is Hulda Clark but only liver cleanse i don't now more about her. NO MORE PHARMA FRAUD!

yay im getting detoxed, i ate nothing all day drank some water then drank 2 cups of lemon juice and some more water after that, my stomach was bubbling and i was feeling pain and a liitle sick, half hour later i drank some more water, felt sick, vomited and when i looked at the vomit i saw some rocks and was surprized i even vomited and more surprized seeing rocks, im planning on not eating anything for 2 days and doing the same thing til i start to feel better

i did something stupid awhile ago i crushed chicken and egg bone into calcium poweder drank a tea spoon of it with water, did it for 4 days, after i found out the calcium was insoluble, now i've got lots of problems and i think im dying, took bloo & piss test, doctors cant find anything wrong.but i still think im dying. now im gonna drink lots of lemon juice everyday and hopefully all the calcium intake can dissolve from my system, otherwise im afraid next time i go to sleep, i might not wake up

@rbdomo52From what I have investigated humans should only eat in similar groups for example citric fruits with citric fruits and citric fruits so the stomach could create an activate acids and enzymes specially for that food ,then wait like 3 hours before eating anything else. If you eat after drinking the juice you are cutting the flow of the potassium and other compounds and cutting the absorbtion of nutriens of the food creating more stress and acids,but thats just menota doctor buthealthfan!

Apparently it's NOT the acid, per se. The citric acid (I've been told) gets converted into potassium citrate, which apparently counteracts the acid environment that forms stones. But don't quote me on that; I'm just parroting what others have said.

I just got out of hospital had surgical proceedure to put in a double j hook stent to hold in place (so the doctor says) a 16mm kidney stone that has caused me severe pain since January, its now Aug. nOW I HAVE pain and discomfort coming from the stent being inside seperate from the stone. I have no insurance no coverage which sucks now im at the mercy of going to an emergency room to follow up. but that hospital had no Litho equip to blast stone Now must go to Hos that has, via emergency room!

I'm a 21 yr old girl and I just passed my first kidney stone I measured mine in the largest way and it looks to be 3.5-4 mm. but yours in your other videos seem really small to me and I was just wondering if you ever took them into the doctor and had them measured. Also if anyone knows how to properly measure them that would help. When my stone was passing through my kidney ( the worst pain) I was on the mountain and it took 2 hrs to get to the hospital worse thing!!!

I was diagnosed with a 6mm stone in January 2009 and tried the Coke, Asparagus, and Distilled Water method. It relieved the pain after about an hour and I was OK for several months but an Xray confirmed the stone was still there. I tried the lemon juice method too but still have the stone. I have no insurance so having surgery was not an option and the symptoms faded until March 2010 when they returned. Be sure to brush your teeth after drinking lemon juice because the acid is bad for teeth.

@kimchiman1000 I squeezed around 20 I think and drank a full glass of the pure juice followed by lots of water. I did this about 3 times until I ran out of juice. It made me pee but the stone is still there. At 6mm I was told I will need a procedure done to remove it. With Obama's new health plan reform that passed Sunday, hopefully I will now be able to get insurance even with this pre-existing condition.
