  • his best time was at the ontario combat challenge at 1:17. Although the record still stands as 1:19 because the canadian combat challenge is a little different than the US standard. He is a three time defending champ of the world combat challenge and will defend his title again this year at las vegas. His last worlds time was around 1:24 and he shaved two seconds off of that when he dialed in the crossfit program. Source: At school for my applied science in FST and am competing for spot on team.

  • What ever happened to real pullups? Not "jerk your entire body ups". Any highschool gym teacher would make you do those over. I see those a lot in all the crossfit training.

  • they're called kipping pullups, its done intentionally.

  • The train your fast twitch muscle fibers. It's used heavily in controlled explosive training (used to work your fast twitch muscle fibers). I understand your confusion though.

  • The point of kipping pullups is that you do the same amount of work in far less time giving you a much higher power output for the workout. Since you can do so many more, you don't miss out on any of the bicep/lat training at all. Also, they work the hell out of your core.

  • I raced alongside the Fort Gordon boys at the Canadian Nationals in Quinte West. Unfortunately I wasn't able to meet Hammer, but if he's anything like the rest of the team I look forward to meeting him someday. I hope to get in touch with the whole team in Vegas this year at World's. Best of luck to all fellow combat challenge members watching this video. And of course all my best to the Fort Gordon Team.
