The thing sounds good, but the appeal completely dies off when I know I have to change the whole set of player equipment just for one disc. I believe it doesn't sound worth it very much.
it's nothing special. just DVD with a bigger dick.. unless a movie or show is filmed in high definition, i doubt you are going to see any significant difference just by putting it on a bluray... you can put a turd on a platinum spoon, but its still a turd. same thing if you don't have a high def tv, most people can't honestly tell the difference anyways., sad really.
I don't get why they won't just go to cards or something. I mean look, there's already a 128 GB SD card. Also, why bother with compression any more, just stick with the pure LPCM track. Well at least for the actual movie any ways.
I know how to get blu-ray quality from a dvd, Download vlc, install it , pop in the dvd Leave WMP, choose the disc drive it supports then hit play twice. After all that play your favorite scene, go to tools and select effects and filter. Once done then a graph will show up, click video fx, put a check in the sharpness box, turn up the sigma and WAH LAH blu-ray quality. Some might disagree but this actually really works!!
@Razill8pwns I'm just saying there is more than one way to get it without breaking the bank. This way you only get a movie for $3 to however much people love to pay without paying $10 buck ( though some people assume price gives quality which is just silly), paying 120 for the player, then getting the huge screen which is not needed. Plus VGA can read over HD so your set. And even with lower qualty on lcds, they probably last longer.
blu ray is nice, but i dont feel like getting it now... in Brasil it is very expensive... i get 8gb 1080p movies to play through my Xbox HDMI to my Full HD and get all the quality i would get from Blu Ray... ( just my opinion =)
Currently, there are sticks with 32 GB available on them for storage...Anyways, I'm talking about the NEXT step in technology. CD'S, DVD's, Blue-ray..all of it's gonna be obsolete in less than a decade. Eventually, maybe it'll all be streamed in a wireless capacity. I'm not really sure, but I'm just thinking ahead..
@DylanNotBob its not about the disk, its about the quality. even on a usb, it matters whether ur movie is in dvd or blu-ray format. blu-ray gives you better - clearer ans sharper quality image regardless of its location lol
@WarriorsOfRy Well Thats not really different. "Regular" DVDs can be layered as well. Your standard has 4.7gigs, dual layer has 9.6, i think? Both are used.
@WarriorsOfRy your right but blu-ray still has more memory for example L.A. Norie on the xbox needs 3 discs ans on the ps3 witch has blu-ray only needs 1
I buy them at a place here in PA called "Hollywood Video" for about 30 bucks, great deal considering these are all brand new recently released films. YUS!
changes like to dvd from vhs? bull crap. dvd added scene selection, no more rewinding, bonus features, deleted scenes, much better fast foward and rewinding speeds, and the better soud/picture. blue ray gets 1 of those changes and we get charged way more per disc and only people with hd tvs can use it. this is crap
CD technology is so retarded. We can put more on small flash drives. Would take less space, and no more scratched CD. Half the blueray I rent, they don't work because they are too scratched and they are too sensitive. Bull shit Blue Ray
The only primary difference between blu ray and dvd is added space on the blu ray disc therefore you get higher res video and audio among other related junk.
I don't like blu-ray because it just makes everything look a bit fuzzier, I can't see more pixels, I just see lines so close together they just blend, call me 'blind' but every other person I know has said the same thing. Not a fan boy. Just overpriced technology for the average consumer.
I have been building computer since i was 8 years old. I think it is safe to say i know what I'm talking about when it comes to technology. It is obvious that you are some sony fanboy with a lack of knowledge causing up drama on the internet.

In every bluray player all features and technology's are optional except copy protection. hddvd is the opposite, everything is mandatory with the exception of copy protection.
im not sold on bluray at all. ive seen it in stores and to me it looks all fake, almost like a video game. and its almost like everything moves too fast and i have to strain to watch it. plus ill never spend $50 on a movie ill probably only watch once

If you have an Xbox 360, Amazon sell the HD-DVD drives dead cheap and there's around 800 discs which are only a few quid and the quality's no different from Blu-ray.
LOL, hd-dvd holds a tiny amout of info compared to a bluray, the graphics are usually the same because most multi platform games hav to keep in mind that the 360 graphics is not as good as a ps3. and they are not about to remake a whole game cuz the ps3 has better graphics capacity. a perfect example trumping TellyFan the idiot's statement is uncharted 2. the 09 goty. if that was ported to the 360, it would need 2 disks (bare minimum) and it would have insane screen lag
What a total fucktard you are, 808. So HD-DVDs hold 15/30Gb, and Blu-ray 25/50Gb - (a) that doesn't make HD-DVD's "tiny" and (b) do you think films use the full space on the disc? No they don't. And I wasn't talking about games, so suck that one.
haha no retard... Uncharted 2 is over 20 gigs idiot........... at TGS this year they asked if uncharted 2 would be possible on any other platform. and they answered ''No, We are using the singe layered blu-ray almost to it's limits''
Not likely... Flight Simulator X is 15 gigs mate- thats full of high resolution images of the ENTIRE globe. Far Cry 2 is 8 gigs... it has 50km2 of land. Grand Theft Auto IV is 13 gigs... a whole city. At TGS they did not say that, you fucking little FANBOY bastard....
eeh if GTA 4 is 13 gigs, explain how that could fit on a DVD (xbox 360).... haha and did you know that MGS4 is 50 Gigs!!! dude Uncharted is over 20 gigs i promise you, Have you seen how many and rich/detailed cutscenes there is in Uncharted 2... That takes up alot of space
@Timefliesbye dude its been sorted out blu-ray has won. at least in europe it has. I don't even know where you'd buy a HD-DVD player... out side of an xbox 360 that is.
But yeah Blu-ray pretty much won, but what I meant was till they make the complete transition. I still buy DVD's long as they are available cause I don't see the value of spending 130 euro for a blu ray player for slightly better picture and sound.
@Timefliesbye DVD won't die it is still a valid and affordable format unlike blue ray which is almost always 60$ for a single Damn movie while DVD has it for at most 20-30 $
@Timefliesbye I know, however I still use VHS and consider it more relyiable at times compared to DVD espeically considering it's easier to Record stuff cause it dosn't cause 10-50 fuckin bucks. =P
@strongboy98 yes it does, but it isnt gonna up the quality as much as a hdtv does, my recommendation if buying bluray is to wait till u hav a hdtv, oh and get a ps3, it has a bluray player but its oddly cheaper than getting a bluray player by itself. idk who thought of that but its brilliant if u ask me LOL
are you serious haven't you ever heard of the Playstation 3? their games are so enormous that the space required for all the information needs a disk to accommodate it, thus the blue ray! your a jack ass.
@19jpalmer88 Not really you jack ass. The blu-ray player on the PS3 is the biggest waste of money ever. None of the game manufacturers are exceeding the data capacity that a normal DVD disk will hold. Xbox 360 games have the same graphics quality as PS3!
@Gso3 go tell the ppl at uncharted, metal gear solid, and other games i cant think of on the top of my head that. i wanna see you get laughed out of the building, and the ps3 bluray is cheaper than just a bluray player without the console. get your facts right before you run your mouth, typical gaybox 360 fanboy.
Metal Gear Solid is absolutely full of HQ cut seens - the only reason it won't fit on a DVD disk.. what other games then, eh? ..and I said PS3 adding a blu-ray player bumped the price up for the console. Its a waste..
The resolution is 1920x1080 instead of 720×480. That's not a minor tweak, it's a giant size difference.
If you've ever played a video game, compare that game played at 640x480 then play it at something close to 1920x1080. Tell me if you notice any "minor tweaks". ;)
I tottallly agree, just test it in a computer game with different resolutions, I can't play 640x480 anymore in a computer or console(ps2 and wii), cause i know how much better it can be like in the ps3. There is a huge difference. Resolution is important too, not only better graphics
Yeah I gotta get about 3 feet from the screen to tell the difference and I don't believe that's what was intended for a 52in screen. I'll get the cheap dvd player any day.
you people who think blu ray is a waste of money are all retarded. u obviously dont have a good tv or surround sound, or even probably a blu ray player because everyone with a brain knows blu ray looks way better than dvd. ur all just sayin its a waste of money cause u cant afford it.
and plus not every movie is worth gettin on blu ray anyway. movies like transformers, dark night, and iron man are the movies u want on blu ray. movies like seven pounds and benjamin button are movies for dvd
I like how they say "what is blue-ray?" But they don't REALLY tell you. It's a waste of money, I've noticed no significant difference between DVD's and blue-ray.
Probably just another marketing scam to take our money. xD
If you haven´t noticed any significant difference between DVD und Blu-Ray, you never have seen it on a full HD TV.
A Blu-Ray-Disc is capable to record 5 times the information which can be stored on a normal DVD for movies. So the resolution is much higher and the picture contains much more details. Even the sound is better.
In addition to that Blu-Rays aren´t more expensive than DVDs.
my cousi has a blu-ray dvd and hdtv setup and well... there isnt much difference, i seen iron man at his house and at home on my pc downloads. the only difference is that the backgrounds are more clear and bright, not essential to me.
LOOOL tell that to a guy who plays games on a 5 megapixel resolution. current HDTVs are already outdated...
btw, funny how all of these commercials for new gen media come in sub-standard quality. reminds of the 1st-gen dvd-promo trailers that looked hardly better than vcds

Yeah they do, playstation 3 perhaps???
RobinJameZz 2 years ago 3
i think he was relating to the ps3 on that one when he did the equation i saw a ps3
Raveman01 2 years ago
PS3 does you moron
etcos1 2 years ago
are you serious haven't you ever heard of the Playstation 3? their games are so enormous that the space required for all the information needs a disk to accommodate it, thus the blue ray! your a jack ass.
19jpalmer88 2 years ago
@19jpalmer88 Not really you jack ass. The blu-ray player on the PS3 is the biggest waste of money ever. None of the game manufacturers are exceeding the data capacity that a normal DVD disk will hold. Xbox 360 games have the same graphics quality as PS3!
Gso3 2 years ago
@Gso3 go tell the ppl at uncharted, metal gear solid, and other games i cant think of on the top of my head that. i wanna see you get laughed out of the building, and the ps3 bluray is cheaper than just a bluray player without the console. get your facts right before you run your mouth, typical gaybox 360 fanboy.
808gamerhawaii 2 years ago
Metal Gear Solid is absolutely full of HQ cut seens - the only reason it won't fit on a DVD disk.. what other games then, eh? ..and I said PS3 adding a blu-ray player bumped the price up for the console. Its a waste..
Gso3 2 years ago
thats actually not true. You can get a blu-ray player abit cheaper than the PS3. Even with the new modle being so cheap.

Lol i epected this to be an ironic video of a 360 lover talking about how it has "Better graphix" than the ps3
manatyson 2 years ago
whats wrong with dvd? i don't give two shits about a few little minor tweaks to picture quality.
soapinmycookies 2 years ago 3
The resolution is 1920x1080 instead of 720×480. That's not a minor tweak, it's a giant size difference.
If you've ever played a video game, compare that game played at 640x480 then play it at something close to 1920x1080. Tell me if you notice any "minor tweaks". ;)
iSOBigD 2 years ago 6
I tottallly agree, just test it in a computer game with different resolutions, I can't play 640x480 anymore in a computer or console(ps2 and wii), cause i know how much better it can be like in the ps3. There is a huge difference. Resolution is important too, not only better graphics
agmolina90 2 years ago
Yeah I gotta get about 3 feet from the screen to tell the difference and I don't believe that's what was intended for a 52in screen. I'll get the cheap dvd player any day.
JaysonSR 2 years ago
you people who think blu ray is a waste of money are all retarded. u obviously dont have a good tv or surround sound, or even probably a blu ray player because everyone with a brain knows blu ray looks way better than dvd. ur all just sayin its a waste of money cause u cant afford it.
and plus not every movie is worth gettin on blu ray anyway. movies like transformers, dark night, and iron man are the movies u want on blu ray. movies like seven pounds and benjamin button are movies for dvd
hailphire130 2 years ago
TBH, you don't need to be harsh while writing... Just say: "Get BluRay".
TheKaeguy 2 years ago
Clearly, anyone who doesn't have a big TV is retarded.
pizzini3000 2 years ago
yes
hailphire130 2 years ago
I like how they say "what is blue-ray?" But they don't REALLY tell you. It's a waste of money, I've noticed no significant difference between DVD's and blue-ray.
Probably just another marketing scam to take our money. xD
memnon0288 2 years ago 7
If you haven´t noticed any significant difference between DVD und Blu-Ray, you never have seen it on a full HD TV.
A Blu-Ray-Disc is capable to record 5 times the information which can be stored on a normal DVD for movies. So the resolution is much higher and the picture contains much more details. Even the sound is better.
In addition to that Blu-Rays aren´t more expensive than DVDs.
Aledril01 2 years ago 3
you know, people thought the same thing about cell phones, and they were very unpopular when they first came out, now look at them...
gamemaster1199 2 years ago
that was a different story the first cellphones were really expensive and even hundreds of dollars
americiancomrade 2 years ago
and the ps3 and bluray player werent expensive when they first came out?

yes!
someone has spoken the TRUTH
just like the ps3 and ps3 slim

acidrain92 2 years ago
my cousi has a blu-ray dvd and hdtv setup and well... there isnt much difference, i seen iron man at his house and at home on my pc downloads. the only difference is that the backgrounds are more clear and bright, not essential to me.
Bottom line, Blu-ray is a waste of money.

HDTV+BluRay= Maximum HiDef Experience??
LOOOL tell that to a guy who plays games on a 5 megapixel resolution. current HDTVs are already outdated...
btw, funny how all of these commercials for new gen media come in sub-standard quality. reminds of the 1st-gen dvd-promo trailers that looked hardly better than vcds
