  • No, as you compress the chest, air will be inhaled and exhaled from the casualty. You pinch the nose to insure that your ventilation goes into the lungs.

  • i wish i was that toyyy!!!

  • it syaed 30 to 5

  • no its not wrong its 30 to 2

  • yes,to circulate the breath through the mouth.

  • actually, for every 15 compressions you must blow one time in the mouth. This is wrong.

  • Its 30 to 2, according to the new guidelines that have been out about a year, however, i'm sure no paramedic/nurse/doctor/relative will be ungrateful that your at least doing something. At the end of the day, the patient is dead, and all you can do is your best

  • this is how i was taught so yeah... i agree... but i was taught usin bcd's so it might differ

  • Normally you are covered under the good samaritan clause as long as you have good intent, not something to worry about if you are trying to save a life. The odd on survival of someone that needs cpr due to heart failure is approx 5% with just cpr, approx 10% with CPR/O2 and approx 15% with drugs . This method is correct, its been recently updated but it has'nt changed too much. 30 Comps with 2 rescue breaths until paramedic is on scene.

  • I DON'T KNOW WHO THE FUCK 2 BELIEVE!

  • if the child is as big as

    Mike Tyson use both feet

  • Haha I Agree! x

  • U.s cpr starting with clearing the scene for any dangers body substance precautions, try to figure out patients response level. open airway using either modified jaw thrust or head tilt chin lift depending on neck tramua. check for signs of breathing looking for check rise/fall feeling for air going past ear or listening for agonal Respirations. once found there are no signs of breathing two breaths should be administered through a Ambu bag. check for a pulse no pulse begin 30 compressions

  • I took a course but it was by the American Heart Association and it was a little bit different.

  • 5 breathes are too much, do 2 slow breathes, because doing more will stray you away from the real problem which is the circulation in the chest area.

  • No 5 initial breaths for childern and infants is the correct procedure, then compressions for a minute with 30 comp to 2 breaths...Go get help and call an ambulance... then resume cpr at 30:2. This is the latest update for 2007 which eliminated some procedures like pulse and finding the exact place for the compressions to make it easyer

  • the last update for cpr was made in 2005 and wont change till 2010 5 quick breathes could hyperventilate a PT

  • I quote from the "First aid manual" 8th revised edition in line with the latest guidelines from the Resuccitation Council(UK).

    "unconscious child(1 year to puberty)

    1. make sure airway is still open

    2. clear airway

    3. pinch nose and open mouth

    4. give rescue breaths ;blow steadily into the mouth for 1 sec ;the chest should rise. Maintaining head tilt and chin lift, take your mouth away and watch the chest fall.Give 5 rescue breaths.

    5.Begin chest compressions

  • "uk" instructions on a american website? and i like how no where in your steps does it say assesment of breathlessness or checking for a pulse, is it smart to compress a breathing heart? think outside the book.

  • What do you mean by this? This vid is from the British red cross, and they together with the St John Ambuance and the St Andrew Ambulance use this Manual with guidelines from the resuscitation council(UK), do a google search and you'll find its a british site. RE the above comment I just quoted the part where rescue breaths are involved.

  • "Is it smart compressing a breathing heart?"

Its not advisable, thats why there's the primary survey to check for any signs of life. Finding a pulse was removed bec it can take time to find especialy if its a weak pulse, it that case you'll be loosing time and risk the casualty's life.

  • First off sorry i ment beating heart, The states (u.s) is much different i just don't want american people looking at this and getting confused attempting cpr and then being charged for reckless endangerment, granted that we are only protected by the good samaritian law if we know what we are doing. Since this is not within our scope of practice doing cpr like this would make you liable for allegation.

  • In the first place no one should attempt doing anything if not properly trained.Seeing a video like this does not make you a firstaider. I disagree with you that doing first aid like this will get you prosecuted. I'm a qualified first aider, the procedures were just the same like you mentioned a couple of years ago, but they've been updated (simplified) lately, so we abide by these new regs.

  • Understand that america is much different then uk first off, second you should def attempted anything you can do to save a life

"you cant make anyone more dead" you should always do what you can, Yes you can be prosecuted

  • Well you might be right about that, I'm not American, but I cant see how can you get prosecuted if you're doing nothing wrong and you're qualified to do it. We dont encourage people to do cpr if not trained, we encourage people to take on first aid courses bec only then do you know what you're doing.

  • In america there is a good samaritian law which protects you if your doing proficient cpr and qualified. But if your not doing it right then you can be held liable. Showing people the "UK" way on an american website i feel is dangerous and might confuse people to do it your way and not the way its taught in america

  • Well I had heard about a guy that was saved from a cave in of his house from a firefighter. He was not able to be placed on a gurney so they had to carry him out. In the hospital they found him paralyzed from the waist down. He sued the firefighter who saved him and won.

This is very idiotic IMO. Why sue someone who saved your life. What's better, life with paralysis or death?

egomike is right though, why let someone die when you could possible save their life.

  • Its difficult to prove that the rescuer caused the injuries, there are factors which could mean hard decisions for a rescuer... like type of injuries, time, collapsing buildings and danger to the rescuer himself... I wouldnt think twice to break the casualties leg if its the only way to break him free from a burning vehicle or collapsing building, can you sue me? Dont think so...you broke your leg during the accident!

  • It's pretty asinine that it happens, but that's how the law works against you. I honestly have no idea how the jury found it reasonable to sue a firefighter.

  • Sometimes agree but if a person is not breathing and requires CPR then they are clinically dead. therefore can there be any incorrect technique. If an untrained person was just to giev compressions the patient would have 1/3 more of a chance of surviving than with nothing. But i do agree, you cannot learn firt aid from you tube video's, you need to attend a course!!!!

  • Anyone reading this, remember that there are differences around the world to CPR techniques. If you've been trained in a different way to this, then Rely On Your Training! It's better to do something that is a bit different, but you can do well, than to spend even a few seconds wondering whether it's right or not.

  • A lot of things are diffrent from our work (french first-aid worker). May be the pulse of the air is a little violent I think and 2 pulse only comparated to our technique.
