it was a trend in European countries to mirror print "police" on the hood of police cars, the idea was that if they chase you and you would see in the mirror you could read normally thats the "police", some burocrat had to much time I think, but these prints are phased out now.

It was to stop people saying "I didn't know it was the police" in court, and getting sentences chopped down after driving away from the post office they robbed whilst being chased. Yes the lights are a giveaway, but you know what liberals are like. Perhaps Mr. Balaclava didn't know it was the police. Hence the police having to shout "Stop, police" when they engage someone so that person is in no doubt who it is.

But in the USA most of the states allow for firearms. So when you can get shot at daily, your fuse is shorter and so is your sence of humor.
