Boost is just a measure of restriction. This motor was flowing a ton of AIR due to great headwork, fmic, etc which is why it made great #s and trapped so high at the dragstrip on plain pumpgas.
it really sucks that this looks like a regular STi with minor modifications cause i could definitely see myself pulling up beside this and making an ass of myself unsuspectingly....nice sleeper lol
I just bought an 05 sti yesterday. i was wondering what mods u did to make 489 hp and how much psi a sti motor with bone stock, manifold, throttle body ect, without risking blowing engine or head gaskets?
The car has a fully built motor, custom turbo/fmic kit, gt35r turbo, TXS UTEC, big fuel system, and a lot of drivetrain mods. Knock will kill your stock motor before boost does, but most people stop around ~400-450whp for safety.
Haven't driven it at all with the cutout open but I do expect to have to turn down the wastegate duty cycle. My boost controller can switch between two different maps easily so I'm all set with that.
I do see boost spikes with the LC/FFS set up like how it was in my "spinning 2nd gear hard" video. It makes 25psi during the 2-3 shift and I had to turn down the FFS RPM to fix that.

Damm! where you on a dyno dynamics? they read way lower than everyone else. You probly at 550-600hp on a regular dyno if thats a dyno dynamics.

These numbers were with their "dynojet correction factor" which is 1.20
So the final # uncorrected was like 420whp, but I saw it hitting 430-440 during tuning.
