This was my favorite song on the album. Even at age 9 or 10 I could tell when a song really was "art". This was art. They really put together a helluva tune here.
I didn't hear this song until about 2002. But I was an avid, if unskilled, 8 year old video game player when Centipede was my favorite game. After school I'd vaccuum, take out the trash or collect all the dirty glasses from beside my dad's chair (he had a habit of hiding them!) and put them in the sink. And my mom would pay me when she got home by walking me across the parking lot to Open Pantry, which had Galaga and Centipede back-to-back by the front door. I usually earned 2 games!
you cant mess up such great original songs they r many peoples memories of the 80's... Good songs r forever and shouldnt b messed with.. if they wanted to put it out the should have brought it out in its orginal glory...... :)
I got this album when I was a little kid back in the 80s and I still have it today. I also have played all these video games when I was a kid too. Pac Man fever was like my anthem. "I got a pocket full of quarters and I'm headed to the arcade". That was me. I do miss going to the arcades. These days you'll be lucky if you find an arcade to go to. One of my favorite places when I was a kid to play these games was at the Chuck E Cheese's in Philadelphia. Pizza and video games!!!!
It sounds so sad to me, for some reason...'The spiders are your only friends', 'you can't run away', 'you can't hide', 'I'm coming to get you', 'Here I come'...
At 2:30-2:44 you can tell the guitar solo is vastly superior on this LP version to the truncated amature CD version (the original session guitarist was unavailable for the re-pressing). Also, when the lyrics, "The Spiders are his only friends" is sung, it is a 5th higher than the CD version. Love those analog keyboards. A+ version!
@mikecronis , Yeah I heared the CD version was not good they changed to much of it. which sucks the LP version is better if you happen to still have it or find it.
@jasinjoaquin you're not the only one who's noticed that. I'm pretty amazed it sounds just like Separate Ways, and AFAIK this song came out before the Journey one did!
@silicon212 I had the 33 album also, I used to live in the arcade.. All the money I got from cutting lawns, I would ride into town on my moped and spend it on video games..
Is this the original 1982 version?

The LP version is far superior since the CD version was re-done due to lost partial-tracks. Luckily, this is the LP version.
