  • guy in the orange has much better form than they guy in the black. he holds the bow with much less tightness in his hand and more in his back. much less torque that means which calls for a more accurate shot

  • Mathews bows all the way. Hoyte can suck Mathews bows dick

  • The guy in the black has worse form... grip on the bow.. catching the bow after the shot...

  • Gotta love the best bow arguement just like pepsi or coke, chev or ford each to thier own folks. The only thing stay safe out in the bush

  • Perhaps the fella in black should try holding the grip a little harder LOL!

  • Pop up rest? I thought it was called a fall away rest. Nice pistol grip by the guy in black.

  • you cant get an accurate shot when the guy in the black is squeezing the grip anyone who knows correct form knows u let it rest on your hand not hold it... and it also depends on how the bows rest is set up im sure if they get a professional there to shoot they would have all arrows touching with both bows

  • What sight is on the Z7? I'm looking for a sight for my new Hoyt.

  • why not have the same guy shoot each bow? Wouldn't that be a better indicator of the better bow for at least that person? I can shoot a tactical z7 against a pro with a long bow and I would get destroyed. It's in the Indian, not the bow and arrow.

  • I happen to own a Matthews that I myself purchased and I like it just fine. I'm 19 and I am definitely not a snob. I have friends that shoot each and they all seem to be quite happy- it's personal preference, I believe.

  • Jamboree, what a great bow shoot.

    Hoyt is simply the best.

  • AH THATS Wayne i go there to shoot all the time

  • I have a ds3800 but I'm thanking bout geting a z7

  • Hoyt all the way. Mathews is a big marketing bow. Although good, Hoyt is better, ask all the magazines.

  • Hoyt makes the best bows! Maybe you guys should try dry firing them bows and throw them in a swimming pool,in sand, mud and then see wich one wins.

  • @FreemanFPS Yeah, because most Bow Hunters throw their bows in a swimming pool, in sand, mud on a pretty regular basis. I try to do that to mine fairly often. Sorry but I will take the speed of my Matthews over your nasty muddy Hoyt anyday

  • @CheapChizzlinMooch No but at least the hoyt wont fly in pieces when it is accidentally dry fired. People have shot african elephant and buffalo with the maxxis. How much more speed do you want? Did you check out the new Hoyt vector and carbon element? Trust me they are far from slow.

  • Useless review gentleman!!!

  • for specs they measure weight speed, axel to axel, brace height... they should make a test wear they have a decible reader place it 15 inches away from the shooter and test it with no silencers on the bow, test it three times and take the average decibals. i feel like that would help people decide what bow to purchase

  • Think your both tools

  • how far where yall shootin?

  • ya. i think hoyt is a better manufacterd bow, they are both very nice bows but i prefer a hoyt.

  • z7 extreme and carbon element

  • Both need to learn how to open their hand when shooting. That's one of the first things I learned when I got my bow. You don't hold the grip like a baseball bat. I shot the maxis and loved it also shot the z7 and didn't like it as much. I love Hoyt but Mathews still has a great bow

  • Awesome looking bow's you should invest in a bow sling so you don't have to clinche it.

  • I'm not saying bad things about either bow (I have a Maxxis 31 and LOVE it but have never shot a Z7). And it might just be me, but I feel like the guy in the black had his mind made up before they even shot them......it's like the only thing he said he liked about the Mathews more was the grip...

  • "I don't always shoot a bow, but when I do, I shoot a Mathews. Stay thirsty my friends".

  • I am impartial to brand names, what shots and fits me well I'll buy. It's like Chevy vs Ford, I don't really care but i'll purchase whatever performs to my needs.

    1. the guy in black has a kung fu grip on that bow, he looks nervous.

    2. the iin orange has better technique

    3. Even where I live, why do I feel like I hear people that shot a Hoyt bow say " Mathews are good bows, but you pay extra for the name." I've even had prostaff say this to my face and I hear it on youtube.

  • @superclarkyy Maybe because Hoyt and Hoyt shooters are not snobs. Mathews and Mathew shooters walk around like their shit doesn't stink. A Mathews Bow dreams about being held by Chuck and Michael. Mathews Bows, dreams it has Harvest as many animals as a Hoyt.

  • @bluegrasssingingman Hoyt =Harvest = World Records=Best Shooting Bows made= GET SERIOUS GET HOYT.

  • @bluegrasssingingman I'll give you that. I was at a archery show last weekend and there was a guy at the Ross Archery stand watching people shoot looking at the brochure. One of the reps came up with the bow that the guy was looking at in the brochure and asked if he would like to shoot it. He said "Do you see my shirt". It was a Mathews shirt and then said I don't need to shoot your crap bow. Couldn't believe he said that. Was a crap bow though. Felt like holding a weed eater after the shot.

  • he needs to open the left hand!!

  • anymore it don't matter what bow you buy they are all alike its just what you prefer and how comfortable you are.

  • @joshardy25 exactly i shot every bow a man can think of and loved the hoyt carbon element!

  • when you buy a mathews you are spending your money on the name

dont get me wrong there nice bows

  • @TheJarnagin exactly right! Personally, I think hoyt offers the best quality because they don't just make a new model just so they can put something new out on the market like mathews, they stick with the same design until they find something better, even if it takes them a couple years.

  • @TheJarnagin if mathews are nice bows how are you spending money on the name when you are buying great quality?

  • @TheJarnagin

Another idiot - saying nothing. They just finished saying that both bows are pretty much the same and you can't go wrong with either. But your dumb comment is the Mathews is only the name. Duh. They why are they both great and why both the same. You can't say anything smart - shut the hell up. No sense showing everyone your ignorant.

  • @redbone311

Except the Hoyt is about 11 ounces lghter. Yes, Mathews lies about the weight of their bows. Additionally, the Hoyt is much more durable. Aside from the aforementioned, they are comparable.

  • I can group better than that with my pearson spoiler an its only a $300 bow. The PSE X-Force Omen is faster than both of these anyways. Im gettin the PSE X-Force Super Short soon. I do most of my hunting out of a climber so i want a short axle to axle length cus i aint got alot of room for those waist high monsters. lol

  • Carbon matrix best bow ever

  • The Mathews Z7 is the sweetest bow ive shot. I have the Z7 but have shot both of these fine bows.. The Z7 has a way smoother draw, and when you pull the release it feels as if the arrow hasnt even been shot. It is smooth smooth smooth...

  • need foolow through

  • the guy in orange has a better drawing technique

  • does the z7 have alot of red on it>?? because i want to have red on it. and if not does ANYONE know where u can custumize bows with stuff. if so please explain :)

  • maxxis 35 seems like the whip bow for me just because I'm a longer draw

  • Nobody has nothing on mathews!

  • Hey i have about 1500$ to spend im a big fan of mathews and wondering what bow would fit me best out of that catgory Im 14 27" draw length I can pull up to 55# And curently shoot a pse bow madness

  • @zziNsanityz mathews is a good bow but i would go with a pse xforce consideriong your lower draw length and weight

  • @zziNsanityz my first bow was my favorite; it was a mathews ultra 2 ik ik its discontinued but i loved tht bow!!!!!

  • get a whisker biscuit the helps keep the arrow from falling out and it makes the arrow fly straighter too.i have my dad,my cousins, and my uncles shooting the whisker biscuit and im only 15 i shoot a Mathews LX and my dad shoots a Hoyt XT2000 and we love them.

  • @rush13sg This si my opinion the whisker biscuit sucks get the tropfy taker! The wisker biscuit was slowing my arow down by 20fps

  • The Hoyt's draw looks wayyyy smoother. P.S. Just buy a Q.A.D. Ultra Rest HD and never worry about arrows jumping, falling out, anything for that matter.

  • @NewDaysofNoah it is smoother unquestionably. they both look like there struggling with the draws

  • Get the Schaffer opposition... shooting it on my pse omen its a demon

  • That boner enclosed Hoyt grip is ugly.

  • had nothing but problems with Z7 . and 0 problems with maxxis trust me go with the hoyt maxxis

  • ive shot both bows and they are great. i shoot the z7 but when u pay $800 for a bow their all good

  • are those bows noise or with handshock?

  • Punch that trigger!!

  • both of those bows are beast i would buy either

  • I shoot a hoyt and prefer my bow over any mathews. It's not like I never shot a mathews I just dont like them. You cant go wrong with a hoyt...... Get serious guys get hoyt

  • @LoganHockey34 It just depends on the persons opinion. I love Mathews but i would go with the Hoyt because it's a lot smoother. And you can't go wrong with DUAL CAMS!

  • HOYT!!!!!!!!!!!! ATW. both nice bows but i personaly like the light weight of the hoyt and the cam. like they said in the video it has a very smooth draw

  • They are both a 7" brace height

  • the bolts on those octane sights rust so easy

  • SWEET t-shirt Idaho state bowhunters jamboree rocked last year ,see you at 2010!

  • forget hoyts.... go mathews if u want a bow

  • @wildcatsrock333 heck ya..mathews is the sure wat to go

  • @txklint amen!

  • @SMGaines06 Agreed...with either of these bows tuned properly you should be able to hit a 1x1 target from that distance in that controlled environment. Not even hitting the center of what looks like a 4x4 bulls eye is pretty pathetic.

  • Matthews.

    I love my reezen 7.0.....thanks.

  • Interesting perspective on these two bows. I had the opportunity to shoot both today at my local dealer. you can't go wrong with either. I found the Z7 to have a smoother draw cycle. It was also slightly faster. It allowed a little more creep before taking off. the Hoyt had better balance, felt a little better in the hand. It had a very solid wall, also seemed a little lighter and more compact. I was shooting without a stabalizer and felt just a slight bit of vibration with the Hoyt

  • i personaly like the mathews brand more than hoyt, they are smoothest, very silent and not as heavy as the hoyt ones.

but of course stability and speed of hoyt is always impresive.

  • do you mean shorter axle to axle height? because both these bows are 7 inch brace heights.

  • no it wasnt my string that busted it was the cam that tore.

  • i might get the z7 and i just cant wait

  • before u do that i would check out one of the PSE bows...i have the OMEN and man is it the best bow i have ever owned!

  • how can you test a bow by how tight you group its all bout the shooter

  • i went and shot the z7 and the Maxxis31 today and the maxxis felt like it had a real shaky draw to it but the z7 was nice and smooth all the way threw the draw cycle i like the z7 better

  • i personally have shot a matthews and a pse and i like the pse better because it seems to have a smother draw and more forgiveness

  • i just got the z7 about a week ago and i shot it for the first time last friday . saturday night i was adjusting my peep sight so i pulled it back and when i let it down i heard this noize from the cam and the string litteral took off out of my fingers and the track on the cam where the string settles had torn.

  • @ILOVEASHLEYMICHELE so it was your string that busted? what did mathews have to say about it and did ya get it fixed?

  • if he was honest i bet they fixed it under warranty because they really want to push this bow. the reason the string jumped the cam track is because he drew it back with his fingers and unless you are an experienced finger shooter it causes alot of torque and the string does not align with the grooves. the riser design and cam design of todays bows make this easy to do. the solution is to only draw your bow with a release on and dont let anyone else draw your bow unless they are tech

  • Are you using the schaffer rests on both of these bows?

  • Possibly, however it's more likely you are hearing exaggerated details of the bow from the shotgun mic used for the video.

  • At 2:43 and 2:46 there is a slight buzzing noise on each of the bows. Is something not tightened down?

  • if you loosen your hand up on your grip you will shoot better. take your index finger and thumb and wrap them around the grip and hold the bow with you palm.

  • Good point with the grip. We just strung and tuned the bows and was a little tight with thumb. Shot both bows again the other day and both felt pretty good.

    Thanks for the comment.
