well said, cf80to01... I'm trying out for my local swat team. Keep in mind these are minimum standards. When has anything worth it come to those who do the bare minimum? To score a perfect on PT is actually pretty difficult. Plus immediately after PT, we have to shoot a qualification course, so muscles might be a little more shaky, which can make a difference with a pistol at 25 yards.

Exactly...... what the CF does is test the candidates at the Base level to weed out the glory hounds who think they are toughter than they actually are. IF chosen for the selection process they still stand about a 90% (or greater) chance of going home. The ones who make it are the ones with the psychological strength to match their physical strength.

This is in washington, Canada doesnt have swat, But we have the Emergancy Response Team Aka ERT. These units are not all about physical requirments and if you have a good shot. You can always train to achieve the requirments , but they mostly look on your mental capability of making quick smart decisions. Most of the time there drug busts, but suicdes, robberies, hostage(s) situations require alot of mental work and choice of words. I am currently training to become apart of the ERT one day.

I can also do tons of situps and about 12 pull up's. Running is no problem for me as well.

wow, is this a joke? seriously lol...i mean the physical test can be done by anyone. Swedish "SWAT" if you can call it that, also known as "Piketen" has to undergo some serious tests, both physical and mentally. Run under 12 minutes in 1.5 mile, i ran 1.2 miles in 8 min 20 sec. And i suck at running.. Ah well....seems like fun to be in the swat team over there :)

That's the minimum requirement to APPLY for SWAT, good luck getting through all the physical and mental training they put you through once you've passed the initial application.
