  • I think Bob just ripped me a new one.

  • Hey Jesperson. Get this out on official DVD already!

  • Really. :(

  • fuckin awesome 4 mins of class need i say anymore

  • It's a shame that when people think of the 80's the image of lame hair-metal bands like Poison and Motley Crue pop up. When in fact America during the 80's had an amazing underground indie/alt/hard-core punk scene.

The Replacements, R.E.M., Dinosaur Jr, Minor Threat, Husker Du, The Minutemen. Quality bands, quality music.

  • @cossack77 Don't forget Sonic Youth.

  • and the pixies and nirvana ,, they were all influenced by these cats !!!!

  • @cossack77 motley crue owns rem sucks fucking dick

  • I miss the Mats :-(

  • GOD DAMN IT!!!

  • I need a god damn job.

  • man, the audience didnt look too excited! !

as if they saw stuff like that every day!!

  • @shimmering1000 They were still fairly unknown at the time and this was early in the set. Watch some of the videos from later in the show... they won the crowd over by mid-set.

  • Great stage presence!

  • Werent they a punk band before they got popular?

Lol, In the NoFX album Coaster, in the lyrics sheet, it says that one of their influences were the early replacements.

I like the Replacements anyway lol.

    This song is great.

  • no one in my school or any of my friends will ever know how much i love the mats!! mainly because they're such an underappreciated band that no one knows they exist. but we all appreciate them!!! at least i sure do! they're music totally inspired me!!!

  • Man- I love early Replacements! Too young to have caught this show- but you can really feel the 7th St Entry vibe watching this... hasn't changed much since 1981.

  • more evidence that the minneapolis punk scene was great and that the audience/scene that listened to this raucious concert suct...(mouths agape and arms crossed as usual). thank god they left town...

  • @Corporations8MyBaby: God damn right, god damn RIGHT. Thank good ness for the like-minded ;)

  • I love this performance.

  • @ckad3333 he was born in 66, therefore he would have been 15 whent his was recorded. but young nonetheless

  • bob stinson was the heart and soul of the band.once he was kicked out it was never the same

  • @ckad3333 well there were other punk bands around in this time period who are more appealing, i still think it sucks, but at least they were doing what they loved.

  • my god...

its funny how many bands can use the same chord progression, yet stil have obedient fans.

    this sucks big time!!!

  • @niallz409 Wow, if you think this sucks I'd be afraid to see your music collection!

  • @shaner200 hehehe

  • Great performance by The Replacements and we're lucky this was ever taped...but What a lame audience!

  • RIP Bob S.

  • Think that's the same SG Tommy played with Bash and Pop on Letterman and the one Paul played on his first solo tour in '93. Thing gets around.

  • bob 1995 too soon too go. you fucking rock! cc club, lets all be a regular

  • this video rules

  • bob was the fucking king!

  • look at bob, holding it all together with great guitar, he was the glue.....

  • cant wait till im 18 and can go to 7th street every weekend

  • Damn! Tommy looks young!!! What was he, like 14 when this was shot?

  • He'd have been 15 here

  • wish i was alive when music was still fun =(

  • watch?v=tWG-RK1oE5o&feature=channel_page minnesotans still know what to do ;D

  • @geebs100 It still is, have you ever been to a Black Lips show????

  • What kind of $%#@&!! question is THAT???

  • awesome ....

  • you are a twit, this band rocked in a time when "hair bands" were starting.PUNK RULES,,by the way ,i was 16 when this came out,,,and i still love theses guys, rock on forever replacemants.....(but you are right about the wynona ryder thing,,she's a twit like you)

  • Why can't the world have more Bob Stinsons and less John Mayers in it?

  • @Corporations8MyBaby Here here! I wanna see the late great Bob Stinson spring from his grave and beat John Mayer to death with a big under ripe cucumber.

  • @Corporations8MyBaby Eeeeeeww!! Imagine a world full of John Mayers? Not many Bob Stinsons out there. Thats why music is in the "rotten" shape it is. Great comment!

  • @Corporations8MyBaby Bob was a hurricane Katrina. Mayer is a ...why even compare? (mayer is a flatworm a useless...nothing)

  • smokin Bob, thats all i got to say!

    w00t

  • I almost got to play there... but then a member bailed and we had to cancel. Would've been sweet though, the replacements pretty much rocked the shit out of it

  • Goddamn it.

  • not sure what this means, but it's funny as hell- dunno why people flagged it. Anyway I can picture w. bush rocking out to the 'placements. can't you?

"cheney wants a hit and we don't give a sh**t"

  • Cheers to that! Miss the chaos.

  • Drugs. a little is required. Too much and you're a waste of human flesh. How do you draw a line? RS made the 'Mats more 'Mat-ish! Love it!!!!!!

  • SGs & Teles are the best!

  • YES!!!!!

  • I'll always love the Mats!

  • In my opinion, the last truely great rock n roll band!

  • the most innovative bands of the era (both, by the way, had the two most innovative guitarists of the era in their bands, were husker du and the b-52s. my two pence worth.

  • there albums were like gold

  • why the fuck does minnesota have to be so god damn cold. i HAD to move to LA, but i do miss me some CC Tap pinball yo

  • People think that the ramones were always part of some perceived punk hierarchy in critic and popular circles, but they weren't critical or commercial darlings in their time; conversely, i've been hearing that the mats were the greatest bands of all time since rolling stone started rating albums from 1-100 and rock press become more prominent. The mats always have been critic's darlings since Let It Be and if anyone is overrated it is them.

  • Just read a artical in Spin mag they maybe be getting back together Tommy and Paul,no Chris or maybe not - it's up to Paul.

  • Fuck Bush I need A God Damn Job.....

The CC Club has the best steak and egg special ever. $6.25 for a Bloddy Marry and steak and eggs.

  • Obviously an "on" night for them...they were the very best when they wanted to be.

Good luck seeing their kind again.

  • This says it all. God, I love them.

  • That's some fuckin' rock 'n roll right there, friends!

  • Having first been introduced to Twin at a Kicks Game at the Met in '78 and going to Wayzeta H.S. This wss the Sound ...Hey, we even had the Suburabs in our Town - They were awesome...Great vid...

  • OOH MY GOD i LOVE it.. listening to paul westerberg got me a job at the music store .. thanks paul...

  • i wish i was alive to watch them in concert

  • posted twice asshole.

  • The Ramones, as great as they were, were just not in their league.

  • BooBooLane:The Ramones, as great as they were, were just not in their league.

Neither were the Ramones in a league 1981. The Ramones are finally getting the respect in the 2k soon the the replacements will get their admiration of popular media but this is a black guy from Georgia writing and acknowledging the replacements. What does that say about them?

  • 1. "2k"? You mean UK?

    2. The Ramones were one-dimensional; The Replacements could do it all.

    3. Who's the "black guy" --jawbox?

  • 1. 2K means the 2000's, this decade.

    2. The Ramones are not one dimensional they had acustic love songs like "i want you around" and hard metal songs like "wart hog" political like "bongo visit bitburg" the Replacements were good but recognition are finally coming b/c they were pre-grunge/post punk/garage/hardcore/no-wave/no labled needed band from the 80s.

    3. I'm black and that is how I fill about the two bands.

  • Bonzo goes to Bitburg not bongo visit bitburg

    my mistake. Its about Reagan.

  • Again, The Ramones were great, The Replacements were greater.

  • Yes it is about Reagan. Yes everyone needed a goddamn job....republicans were republicans back then too

  • RIP Stinson brother #1!

  • Wish I could have been there that night but seeing as I was only 2 years old ,I don't think it would have gone over well.

  • Well the Ramones and Clash started years before the Mats, who really weren't "punk" per se after the first couple records (musically speaking, and I know that word is hard to define). And since when were the Ramones "flashy'??????? Hey the 'Mats were great, but the one time I got to see them live (Let It Be tour), they were up-and-down (too drunk). The Ramones killed every time I saw them.

  • I had the same experience with the 'Mats on the same tour, no less (were you in Pensacola, too??) I grew up in grass roots Mississippi and caught them too late to think about seeing this and feel gyped! I think the punk label stuck 'cause no one could put a name on it, kinda like how everyone got lumped into new wave.

  • Close--Gainesville! Must have been a bad stretch for them.

One more thing for mnpete: The Clash were far more innovative, musically, than the Mats or just about anyone in punk, for that matter.

  • Brilliant Post. Vital and crucial punk rock history. These guys were geniuys forerunners to what eventually became mainstream. A full DEACADE ahead of their time. I say to you..."Genius post!..."

  • One of the problems with having Cleveland radio to grow up on is that great stuff like this was never played on the air.

  • dope smokin morons

  • these and more are available on the twin tone site.

  • Two amazing songs in a row!

  • Goddamnit!!

  • this is the tightest they ever were!

  • wow..great sound quality.the audience looked a bit stiff.beavis would like this.paul s goota gotta gottas

  • fuck me is all i can say. never saw the original line up play. all the vresions after. this, this. i'm speechless

  • Sittin at home with a drink in my hand

An old Mats video is as good a way to spend a Friday night as I can think of.

  • I have that guitar!

  • This stuff is soooo cool. Now everyone is starting to realize how damn good they were, and here's the proof.

Paul all warned them about becoming a "world class fad" like he did. Youth is so wasted on the young. But damn, they were good.

    Paul is GOD!

  • still cant believe how awesome the quality is on this

  • this is the most amazing concert sound editing energy all A+, kick ass over Beatles Hambourg crap, Stones in Japan bootleg, and the Ramones in San Diego. Has this been doctored in anyway , who cares amazing know wonder Cobain offed himself

  • bob rip sad storty there great band they blew x off the stage in 1984 in ann arbor mi

  • I love the the Stink album. its amazing
