  • Can someone tell me what that bell ringing is for?

  • @tdluvs That is to let the firefighters know they need to refill their oxygen tanks

  • @mabas21 They're not oxygen tanks. The tanks hold compressed air, not oxygen.

  • @jagoots The common folks that are not firefighters know it as oxygen, these videos are not posted for only firefighters to watch. A normal person has no clue as to what compressed air is

  • @mabas21 You're absolutely right. However, this is a great way to educate the public. I think if a question like that is asked, you should give them the correct answer.

  • has your videos been used as a training tool for other departments you get some great shots and was just wondering that because your videos show all kinds of conditions and would be good for new firefighting members to view

  • @VicGord I post the videos on here for all to use and offer a dvd set which is about 7 hours of video. I do know a couple of my videos have been used at FDIC which is really cool. These videos should be used to train, they show us how to improve and refine our skills. Thanks for the comment and enjoy the videos!

  • @ferdnorwalk And with all the guys "standing around.". The incident commander could have been conducting a roll call. When the engineer sounds the air horn 3 times do you even know what that means? It means conditions have deteriorated and to get the @&$! out!!

  • @ferdnorwalk A charged line at each window??? Unless you were at the scene keep your mouth shut and keep the comments to yourself. I bet you aren't even a firefighter.

  • Great Job! Love your videos, I know these guys get alot of work, reminds me of a small Detroit.

  • Great Video's Mabas21,,keep up the great work, you are officially the ''Youtube Fire Filming King". let me ask you, do you still have problems getting access on-scene with some GFD B.C's ?

  • @Lieutenant7b No I do not, but they just got a new Chief which was hired well outside the ranks. I hope she doesn't chase me out.... Thanks for the comment, it is appreciated and definitely made me chuckle!

  • Much respect for firefighters who risk their lives daily. It's a damn shame that in my home town firefighters are getting laid off because of budget concerns. But the city can afford to build a new pool for the city park. Don't make sense to me.

  • @ferdnorwalk These men spent all afternoon, and into the evening at a box alarm fire. They did fine considering how tired they were. Shithead

  • @dudeman21122 Love it!!!!

  • wow what a debacle lines should have been charged at each window but no... nine guys stood so worthless that their pass alarms were going off. what a disgrace

  • @ferdnorwalk <=========Must be an axe sniffer.

  • Way to close. Reminds me of a bad fire i was on a week ago. but good video keep it up

  • Love these videos keep up the good work

  • @troycenterfd22 Thank you, it is appreciate!

  • Great video Ed, a couple of hairy moments there for the guys.

  • @herndblr Your not kidding...... Didn't think this one was going to turn into this!

  • @mabas21 Knowing what was happening at some point, I was able to see it building, but definitely if you weren't looking for it, you wouldn't have seen it....definitely looked like they had a good knock on it for a little bit too.

  • Things start going to shit at the 4 minute mark but there was already heavy fire in the attic and throughout the first floor-and perhaps some of the sub grade (basement) floor. "Risk a little to save a little, risk a lot to save a lot" In this case, because of conditions already beyond their control upon arrival, this is strictly a defensive fire. Glad nobody got hurt.

  • FireTower111 - u can see the chief at multiple times in this vid, starting at 1:26. most of the fires we get are in abandoned and dilapadated house, and are usually rocking by the time we get there. if you look ay this fire, windows are brroken and the roof is sagging in the middle. the big problem with this fire was water supply. we did not go more then 10 feet in the front and back door because the roof was so bad, just FYI

  • Gosh, the poor homeowner.

Ed, this should be on a "Best Of Ed Malik's Fire Videos" dvd - I'll be first in line to buy it. Spectacular catch of the flashover - as artgkt says, it's a flamethrower! GREAT work! Happy New Year; may you film many excellent fires with no LODDs in 2012.

  • GREAT VIDEO OF THE FIRE!! But I have noticed that this City does not do to much roof work at all?? and alot of guys just walk around with NO TOOLS, Is there any Chief on this fire? if so he must be what we called in the 70s a GHOST CHIEF, Never gives any orders to open windows or roofs and lets the men walk around doing NOTHING! Im sure there are alot of good guys on this department they seem busy enough! but Wow how times have changed in the fire service. keep up the good work luv your videos

  • Check the spelling in the title. Should be 'flashover'

  • and i am sure the career politicians of Gary think its perfectly normal to

A send only 1 truck to start to a fire scene to start

B to have what should be relatively minor fire turn in to massive infernos and

C for a city as big as Gary to constantly have to call for mutual aid from other SMALLER towns to help out

but enough of that glad they realized that thing was about to flash over and sounded the EVAC alarm

  • 4:29 wow. This is flamethrower.

  • Reminded me a bit like the movie... Back Draft.

    Good work!

  • Good job man.

  • nice, just in time for the new year
