In 1.1, superflat spawn a slime everwere you look. If you use the seed 'gimmeabreak' in superflat, it spawns you next to a large house with two blacksmiths in the village, with good stuff in the chests, and there is a village in every direction.

Rule 2 is wrong they spawn all the way up to layer 38 or so I have a successful slime farm built on y35 SMP

@maik2231 Try new area. I know, the area you've dig is 70k blocks in total, but if you are un-lucky, and as it seems, you haven't hit one of those chunks. And remember to dig the space under layer 16.

if you make a v.2 of it make a glowstone floor and water highenough for you not to drown but high enough to drown a slime and they do not jump and drown.HOPE IT HELPED :D. BTW i subscribed

Slimes can spawn under layer 13 and is more likely to spawn in light

@TanziaLana Completely incorrect. They are not more likely to spawn in light, their spawning rate is the same either way but if other hostile mods are there it'll reduce the amount. I suggest using glowstone as torches count as a solid block where mobs can not spawn. And since 1.0.0 the limit has been moved up to 40.

If you get Rei's minimap, you can have the minimap highlight chunks that spawn slimes and you can adapt your farm to be only 16x16 and save tons of time.

You don't need to light up the caves if you're lazy. If you don't plan to excavate them or already have, then just flood them. Monsters can't spawn on or in water. Thumbs up so everyone can see this.

I need help I found a slime then used mc slime finder to see if it is definetly where they spawn. There was a block that was green so I took the exact coordinates and built a 16x16 room that's about 3 high sometimes higher it is all lit up and there are no slimes spawning please help me thanks.
