Real-world rideable choppers existed in the late 1950s/early 1960s. Sure, some of those older-styled machines didn't have front brakes (dumb idea) and bars that were too high, but, they were built to be ridden on a daily basis. Hubless wheels, gaudy sheet metalwork, and super-wide rear tires are good for show only. Forget the "build-offs" and the radical bikes they feature. For the most part, that all belongs on TV and not in the road.

Book should have been titled Art of the Motorcycle. Too many different styled bikes. There are Choppers, Bobbers, Customs etc all shown under the title of Chopper. When I see bikes like Arlen Ness style or that stupid looking Tie-Dyed bike at motorcycle shows - I just walk right by. Give me an American or British Bobber anytime.
