Its 2 bad Mr. Don Haskins passed away. as a UTEP fan i'm glad Texas Western won. Texas Western=UTEP. but i was sad wen Coach Haskins passed away. I hope Bobby Joe Hill and Don Haskins both rest in peace
Coach Haskins was an amazing man and we will all miss him!! I remember when I saw this in the theatre everyone gasped and clapped!! I liked the end where they interviewed the actors and Haskins. I saw this movie twice in the same weekend and the second time I told people to stay after the end to see the interviews!! lol. The Bear will never be forgotten!!
My heart is broken. coach Haskins...i hope that from heaven you can see and feel the love we all had for.You didn't just win the 1966 NCAA Championship game...you also won our hearts...and we will forever be thankful. What you did took such courage knowing all you could have lost back in those days of such ignorance..like M.L.K. you never saw color..you saw the person for what they were inside. You lived by the golden rule. A true legend unlike no other. RIP OUR BELOVED 'BEAR'.
Still remember seeing him watching the games when he was retired.I remember the first time i saw him my dad told me he was a legend and I never forgot that.. really saddens me your not here with us anymore but I am honored that I at least got to see, in my eyes, the greatest coach to have every coached the game. R.I.P "THE" Coach Haskins...
This was a small school in a VERY remote part of the country going up against the Goliath of a school. The local El Paso population was mostly white and hispanic, very few college level B-ballers in this part of the country.
I used to watch him as a child.I came to expect him to take off that tie and unbutton his collar. As the game progressed, he'd take that paper in his hand and roll it tighter and tigher to match his intensity. You left quite a legacy. My heart is deeply saddened that this man is gone. His name will forever live on, here in El Paso. And yes, this part of the movie prompted the entire theater to clap and cheer wildly! One more great memory of "the Bear."
This is a great loss in basketball History... With out this man's convictions and heart, we would not have such great players now in the NBA...My heart is deeply saddend and you sir will be greatly missed in the El Paso community and worldwide... R.I.P. and THANK YOU!
not only you were an inspiration to everyone in basketball, but you also changed the gane forever. may you R.I.P. Don Haskins and Bobby Joe Hill

It was more than just five black starters.
This was a small school in a VERY remote part of the country going up against the Goliath of a school. The local El Paso population was mostly white and hispanic, very few college level B-ballers in this part of the country.
They had only one loss that year!
RIP Mr. Haskins.

U changed history in more than just basketball

and he prolly did more than MLK himself

Sad news to hear about his death. He always stayed loyal to UTEP although the school didn't seem to grow with the times.
