your a good youtuber but i have a ? i like to play SC i only have SC1 and am getting SC2 soon but even if i am not good i will still play the ? is how did you get good i love RTS games but i have never been good in any non custom games i have only one once (you should have seen me when i won ^_^) and that's only cuz i "camped" i guess you could say i was good cuz i only had 2 base and could defend against them when they had all the others
@zxamike Thanks for the compliment! I actually wasn't a big RTS player before SC2. I dabbled in supreme commander and company of heroes a bit online but never seriously. With Starcraft 2, I really just played on ladder a lot. I forced myself to even when I felt anxiety about getting stomped. And I made sure to learn from every loss by watching the replay. If you look back at my old videos, I was bronze back in the beta (a year ago). It takes practice and effort.
@kengou thanks for the reply and lol not like RTS before who dont like RTS :P but anyway thanks i will look at my replays but should i look up some stuff cuz i dont know any build (this one i do ^_^) or counters i went in to SC1 like i go into most games (who reads the Manuel) and thus did not look up anything so could that help i think my match that i won may have been luck (need to make a new message to fit it in the limit)
@kengou ok... cuz in that match (i had good scouting and he did not) and i hate getting killed by air because all my units are in the front so i made a ton of turents (it was TvZ) and i saw he was massing muta so i got tons of Goliath to be made so when he attacked i lived he had only a few spike colones ok that all (also one time i had almost fully killed this one guy TvP but then it turned out he was massing carriers and i died T_T)(should of had better scouting that game)sorry if i rambled on
@nihilus123451 I don't play Zerg, but I can tell you how I usually lose if I open like this, and what its weaknesses are. I often lose to a hardcore 2-base hydralisk all-in which hits while you're building up the air army and before colossus can be out. Very early speedling pressure can often force the nexus to cancel while you only have 1 zealot 2-3 sentries. For the macro-oriented Zergs, a VERY fast 3rd base with spores set up before the void ray can get there lets Zerg drone forever freely
@TrickyMael In PvP, no way in hell would this work. Expanding that early is a death sentence to any competent 1-base attack at all.
PvT, you can 1-gate expand, but you'll want a lot fewer sentries and more zealots and stalkers. I have a few videos on my channel about 1-gate expanding in PvT, take a look!
You forgot to mention the 3rd chrono boost on the nexus, in the description, during the construction of the first geyser. Thought it was of some importance to point out. :P
I have been trying this build but I was wondering when is the best time to do it? I usually lose if they just get a ton of lings and push me when I only have 3 / 4 Sentrys.
Is there something I need to scout to then start doing this build?
@Harrymitchell999 I haven't had issues yet against anything, I forcefield to keep alive against early lings. Retreat up the ramp if necessary, but just keep the nexus alive long enough for the void ray to pop out, that's the most important thing. With 5 sentries and a zealot you ought to be able to stall at the very least until the void ray. If you have to defend with a few probes that's ok, Zerg is sacrificing economy by making so many zerglings.
Hi, I would like to make this clear for everyone listening to this strategy and following it hardcore. After I saw this opening from MC I loved it. It is a great way to expand and defend the Roach/ling push. Although at 4:25 you say he cuts probes until the stargate is complete. That could just be a slip of the tongue, but you cut probes to get the 2 gate + stargates only. After the stargate is down then you resume probe production.
TLDR: ONLY cut probes to get 2gates+stargate down.
@kengou Ty! If I wasn't limited on characters for the comments I would have made it more clear that I was sure you knew that, but just made a slip of the tongue. =]
He should have known to search for that 3rd while his voids were just sitting there for the last 5 minutes, but still a better strat than cannoning your natural and hoping you don't die
The video is awesome, thanks. You mentioned that getting 3 void rays leaves you vulnerable to fast hydras. I'm fairly sure that MC only let his third VR finish because he saw Moon's third. Moon can't be doing a fast Hydra timing if he is taking a fast third. Had MC not found a third base with his first VR, he would have almost certainly canceled the third VR and prepared for a hydra timing.

Out of curiosity what is the proper way for Zerg to respond if they see this opening?

Hey, this may be a newbish question but I use this build for PvP and vs PvT also? Like if i get robo instead of star gate or something?

Good video. I hope the background noise doesn't turn off potential viewers. Should try to fix that if you can for your future vids.

@SeeJay710 Yep, you're absolutely correct, it was a mistake on my part. Probe production resumes when the stargate has BEGUN construction.

Thank you, I was half watching this game during MLG and thought Mc had three gate expanded.
Gonna try this now as I've been dying to the Roach/Ling bust alot.

I love you. Seriously. I've had to go through so many of his replays to try and scrape something together.

Thanks for the support! I've updated the video description with the specific build order notes, to make everything clearer
