I always thought the concept of Vader's form of punishing "incompetent" imperial officers has a twist of irony: Having lungs that are irreversably damaged, he knows all too well what it is like - struggling for a single breath of air (outside of his mask). One thing I never quite understood, though, is why Vader is almost never depicted using force-choke on more then one target simultaneously, except in ROTS, after his transformation.

@hiddenstrength1981 Perhaps the need didn't present itself in the original trillogy, he only punihed like 1 person during a choke scene.... Who knows
