i did the ground crew Job by myself back in the 70`s and 80`s and could get an f-4d out in less than 4 mins... we had 2 jets on alert with one as a spare..4 aircrew...2 crew chiefs...thats it.

I've never seen a full-up scramble like this--cool.

About the intro, the IAF F-4s were vulnerable to the SA-6, but only until they received a better ECM pod. Losses were so heavy that the USAF rushed 30+ Rhinos to the warzone, and some flew missions still in USAF paint, but weren't flown by US pilots.

Αναμφισβητητα προκειται για αεροπλανο-θρυλο. Μπορει σημερα να υστερει εναντι των συγχρονων F-16, Mirage 2000, Su-27 κτλ αλλα μην ξεχναμε πως για πολλα χρονια αποτελουσε μαζι με το Mirage F.1 την αιχμη του δορατος της Ελληνικης ΠΑ. Ακομα και σημερα ομως, ο ρολος του δεν ειναι υποτιμημενος. Οι 338 και 339 μοιρες επιχειρουν με τα F-4E Phantom σε ρολους ΔΒ. Μπορουν ομως ανετα να συνεισφερουν και στον τομεα της αναχαιτησης. Τα ελληνικα "φαντασματα" πετουν απο το 1973 και ακομα καλα κρατουν...
