Ceck out the storch (ultralight)! Fair-dinkum it could do exactly what the helicopter just did! Its is a STOL plane and has a stall speed of 15 knots!
The more robots people create, the more jobs lost , the more opportunity elites can overcome the middle and the lower class. When there are no jobs ...people can not earn wages , no wages no consumer products , no consumer products , economy crashes , So BIG COMPANIES HAVE TO HIGHER PEOPLE EVEN THOUGH IT'S EXPENSIVE TO DO SO.
What about that rogue wave about to roll the SS Hardesty LOL. It's one thing to land a helo on a flatbed rolling on a flat surface, but have you ever seen a helo land on rolling seas?
@xxxxxHavocxxxxx What do ya' mean "start" ? This is the third (and worst) down economy we've suffered since I started flying. TONS of pilots have, like myself, given up on trying to make living at it. In my case, after logging more 14K hours.
Between the weather, fucked-up-maintenance, assholes in dispatch, and dumbshit passengers or freight forwarders, all trying to kill ya', toss in the dimwits at the FAA, no job security, training contracts and multiple divorces...
@LaptopMobsta Just an additional downside. But, yes, if you've got some bullshit restraining order against you as part of a Divorce Decree/Child Support Order (on file with employer), do ya' think maybe the Chief Pilot might (after payroll clues him in) have second thoughts about turning ya' loose with a 5 million dollar jet, and his clients?
It happens. And worse. I've seen a guy canned for drinking a beer at another company's Xmas party, on his scheduled hard days off. His GF worked there.
@xxxxxHavocxxxxx Pilots are the ones controlling these things from the other end of the screen. It just makes flying even less dangerous for pilots. Training and keeping pilots alive is harder and more expensive than losing a remote chopper / plane. If a plane crashes, you lose the trained, seasoned pilot as well. If the enemy captures the pilot, he/she becomes a valuable information source and a hostage. Its a bigger risk than having the panels of a UAV...
@xxxxxHavocxxxxx Also, by having this technology people wont have to be phisically fit to be able to carry out air missions, because they wont have to be able to survive the effects of high altitude/high speed/G-power turns and falls. That means that MORE pilots will have jobs, simply because more people will pass the pilot exams without the physical training. The only thing the pilots will miss is the feeling of real flying.
Not that impressive, I'm sure they can do more. Perhaps r&d is too chickenshit to do more, or these people are so uptight that they're afraid to reveal more. So much for innovation.
UAVs are for girly men.

WHy not make all the robots to do our work whilst we sit on our ass all day chillin. Seriously, it is possible.

engineering wise this is awesome.... just a pity this tech will be used to destroy human life!

Don't worry about robots taking over jobs. If we can't afford items then so be it. It will be free.
Eybates01 3 months ago
a good pilot could have done it in less time and going at a higher rate of travel.

Nice try Boeing, I can get my robot to seek out and turn off a beacon. Take that!

It's somewhat ironic that there is a safety pilot onboard.
Previously there wasn't really anyone at risk, if it crashed then you just lose a helicopter.
But now with a soft squishy human onboard, if it crashes you could kill a pilot.
It was thus safer before she was on there!
