OMG!!!!!! I really needed to watch this video! I find myself at 47 years old seriously contemplating totally changing careers. It is mind blowing at all the options, pros, cons, etc you must consider. For me, one of the biggest factors is money. I have put 3 daughters through college, but I still have one daughter left in high school. I really wish I would have found my passion earlier in life. On another note, your hair is beautimous....lol.
This is really a great useful vid, and great advice. But I have 2 things on my mind - 1 Many time, folk have to be dictated by the need for money - don't they? And 2 - I think working for other folk has so many drawbacks that working for one's self - whether it be as a business owner, or in a self employed position - has got to be better. What do u think on both counts?
It is really powerful and really true: when you said "What would you do for free -or- What do you already do for free?" I was like yes! Goodness, I Love this message!
On point! Big time! I've been thinking about changing my career for the past 3 years and I know and what you mentioned about thinking but when we were younger, has really struck a chord with me! I’ve always helped people with their personal problems…they just seem to gravitate to me…and i feel totally fulfilledI doing this...I shall investigate further. Thanks for the inspiration…
Great video! Question: I obtained my B.A. last year, but I have had no luck starting the career that I worked so for. I work a dead-end job in a state that I do not want to reside in at such a young age. Do you think it is better to just move to my ideal state/city and try to search for a job, or is it better to wait until I've been offered a job to move?
Excellent video! An instant favorite! Very timely as I'm considering MY next move. I greatly appreciate the ideas and examples you gave me to ponder! I should have known that you've been a fellow Lifeclasser too! I'm missing them already but gained so much during the weeks it was on.
Bless you Chef Evelyn!! I so needed this today. I stayed home from work because I simply do not know how much longer I can continue doing a job that has NOTHING to do with my passion. Simply put, I'm in the WRONG STATE.
Honey I was not even going to watch this because most people come right out of a text book with it, but you did a FANTASTIC job. I left corporate America six years ago and never looked back but I will look forward to seeing the whole series! Brava!
Lol half way ragity! Very well said. What kind of engineering did u do? I'm in the process of leaving to go back to school. I'm in the right house but in the wrong room :) I did materials engineering then did a masters in civil, then I realized that I love teaching and researching... So i'm thinking of going back for my PhD and then teaching... It is definitely hard to think about leaving all the money though...
This is an awesome video!!!
