It's known as fanned frets, they're made like that because it holds the intonation better for the lower strings, as comparable to the piano (treble notes are shorter as bass notes are longer). It also adapts to lower tuning's better. Just a quick tip. You learn something everyday, right?

I play it also, lot of people think the reversal hand technic who are most difficult to do, but it's not, for me, the most difficult part in this song start at 2:17 Andy's right hand it's perfect, strong and light, with so much nuances, so difficult to play. @S1ay3R007 Nothing to do with tapping or lower tunings. Its just to help give better intonation. Guitars sound a little out of tune past the 7th fret and fanned frets give a correct scale length which simulate a piano.

@Raven2702 No There not! They are made for better intonation with proper scale lengths which simulate a piano. Andy has a baritone guitar for his baritone songs. You cant go to baritone with fanned frets because you risk ruining the neck like on any other guitar. They have nothing to do with lower tunings.

Guitars actually sound a little out of tune past the 7th fret. Fanned frets help keep it in tune.
