The DVD box set is badass. Deleted scenes and commentary by the actors, Shawn Ryan and others. Its fascinating to watch the story unfold over seven seasons.
If you guys get the DVD's and listen to the commentary on "Possible Kill Screen", second to the last episode, Walton Goggins makes a remarkable observation. While Vic is confessing, Walt says something along the lines of "Up until now, you've been rooting for Vic. But it's like watching him through a peep-hole. His confession is like him kicking the door in and exposing him for the evil monster that he truly is. As an audience, you're like 'Shit, i've been rooting for this guy the whole time?"
There seems to be a lot of bickering on the comments as to who hear this song first.
I say, who cares...Concrete Blonde is a timeless band whose music crosses generations.
Anybody who is lucky enough to hear this group and appreciate their talents should be accepted into the circle of friends...in regards to this group lead by Johnette Napalitano. She is one of my all time favorite artists.
Yep, this tune will always remind me of watching the series finale of the Shield on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, 2008. What a perfect way to close out the greatest series finale of the greatest series ever=>
God, this show was jus WRONG but I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. My friend got me hooked on it after season 3 and I catchd up on every episode through Netflix. Damn, what a show. I hope Ronnie wasn't getting traded around for a pack of cigarettes every day...
Grats fate, I never got around to seeing the last season of The Shield and you stealth spoil it for me in a Concrete Blonde video. I didn't see that coming.
Spin off show from The Shield. Dutch finally comes out of the closet and becomes a kung fu master. This fall on FX the first homosexual kung fu master is going to take out the Triads...and look fabulous doing it. Nude cameos by Catherine Dent!
I miss Mackey, ronnie, shane and lem! Damn it was certainly the best show and i feel myself crying when i saw the final sequence! Never see them again...
@NeikoDarkstar You've got that right, I finally saw the seventh season on DVD, and aftwards was talking to my wife and told her that I never wanted her or the kids to watch it. As many things as I've seen and done in the army, and as empty as my soul has become because of it, the last two episodes made me want to hang myself. A show must be that good to illicite such a response from someone as jaded as I am, so props and adulations to Shawn Ryan and crew for such an outstanding show
"For the last three years... The Armenian Money Train robbery, covering up Terry Crowley's murder... Mackey gave the Feds everything. Already got himself full immunity.... Not you though...."
@xqsmee muy zarpada esa parte...fue muy fuerte...This scene is very strong..ohh shitt this is the best serie of the fucking world..!!! please season 8!!!! one more please... ^^
"I guess enough painkillers can make even the worst kind of hurt go away. The thing you need to know is that Mara was innocent and Jackson was innocent. They'd didn't know what they were drinking and their last moments together were happy ones. They left the way I first found them, perfect and innocent. They were innocent and they're in heaven now and we'll always be a family. ..
"All those busts, all those confessions you got in this room, illegal or otherwise..... All the drugs you got off the street tonight for ICE..... You must be very proud of yourself. This is what the 'hero' left on his way out the door....."
The guilty ones are me and Vic. Vic led, but I kept following. I don't think one's worse than the other, but we made each other into something worse than our individual selves. I wish I'd never met him. I see it all now. There's no apologies I can make, no explanations I can give, I was who I was and I can't be that person any more. I can't let myself..."
@Railagainst What? Dude, Besides season 5, Season 7 was amazing. The last two episodes were, in my opinion, the greatest thing ever captured on film. If anything, season 6 was boring in relation to the rest of the series. Do I really have to bust out my 18-gauge double-wrapped chain, Guardo? (Just kidding, cuz that was priceless in 6)
wow, what a finally. does anyone else her this song from shanes perspective talking about vic. And how shane would have followed vic any where. what an awesome show, i will miss it
I miss it already! The finale definitely changed my view of Shane. All he wanted was to be redeemed for his sins, and in that respect, his fate was justified. Vic had it worst, because he has to live in his own hell all by himself, from now on. But even though he deserved it, I'm happy they didn't kill Vic off. That's all I wanted!
Im so depressed over The Shield God I watched the last to seasons with my dad (its his favorite show) so hes getting me all the seasons or what ever for xmas, fuck i really missed out :( thank god for youtube tho
Xmas this year wont be that merry knowin our fave show wont be returnin next year. RIP strike team! damn it Shane, you shouldnt have taken yer life. and Ronnie had a consience and he shouldnt have been busted. vic should have told him to run. cluadette really blows
Claudette blows for trying to take down one of the most corrupt cops in Los Angeles?
Come on. She's one of the few characters on the show with moral integrity. I am always shocked when people dislike her or Julian, but thankfully they seem to be a very small minority of fans.
I'm really having a difficult time dealing with the end of The Shield. The video is such a poignant recap of this tragic tale of brotherhood and the choices we make. I want to think that another series will come along that has this ability to affect me, but it's hard to imagine. RIP Strike Team.
Man, poor Vic...I thought the worse possible outcome was death or prison, but seeing him broken down and humiliated, reduced to a desk jockey brought a whole new level of pathos to the table.
Great song to close the series with...if only a fraction of the shows on TV were a fraction as good as The Shield, maybe TV would be worth watching again.
I only saw the first season and part of the second of The Wire...it was pretty good, but didn't grab me by the balls and squeeze them 'till I passed out screaming like The Shield did. Since there's nothing else to watch, I guess I'll pick up where I left off on The Wire.
One of the better series finales I can remember off the top of my head. Man, Vic looked so out of place and uncomfortable in a suit and tie which was a nice touch.
I was kind of hoping Ronnie AND Vic would end up busted together, but their outcomes were pretty true to their characters. I also the look on the faces of Vic's family when they were finally free of his grasp.
Anyway, great finale, and great song selection. I had not heard this song before and I really like it.
Damn I love this show. Great finale...this song is very fitting for the ending. I'll never forget it. RIP Shane and Lem. Sad to see Ronnie go down. I didn't see any of this coming. Very sad for the whole Strike Team. At one time they were bad ass and look how they wound up. I'll be thinking about this finale for a long time.
Hey idicula, I think Andre 3000 was here to make the environement a little cool, otherwise I would have been to intense to watch !! But I wonder why they decided he would die.
you are probebly right Jeremy Delarge but I wish he was introduced earlier in the episode (not as a main character but a figure in the mayoral campaign). Still an awesome season finale.
Strike Team is dead, Lem blew away, Shane killed himself, Ronnie is in jail and Vic is a son of a bitch. This 7 years was so good and intense, thanks Mister Shawn Ryan and see ya at the barn!
Yeah, I tivo'd it and watched it after I got back from work. It was "over" but there was still 7 minutes left, so I was seriously hoping for some epic closing.
I really wish they could of used this track with some 'after' reflection footage not just the previous past montage. Sort of like they did with Overcome in S2, and Disarm with Mice and Lem. Breakdown, Disarm, Overcome, and now this will help me relive one of my favorite shows :)
I don't like how they introduced Benjamin Andre (comic book guy LOL)charcter and then have him killed in the same episode, either they should of introduced him in more episodes or just forget his character all together. Other then that a very memorible season finale for a very memorible show. Also a very good song to cap it all of. I see it all now...there is no apologies I can make, no explanations I can give...I was who I was...and I can't be that person anymore...
quote from shane's suicide note...fucking brilliant...I'm watching the whole series for the first time...I started watching it as the start of season 7...
I was hoping I'd find this on here. After last night (duh, The Shield, as the rest of you know) I HAD to hear this song. How perfect to hear Johnette Napolitano's voice over the closing credits of one of the best shows EVER.
Ohioankev, don't wait to finish those other bullsh*t shows. Move The Shield to the front and watch the entire thing start to finish. Pay attention to ep 1, the pilot, when they're all at the barbecue having a good time and everyone is alive. This scene, in the very 1st episode, depicts the best things will ever get for Vic, his family and the Strike Team. The whole series is Vic's fall from that shining moment. If that isn't seriously brilliant writing, I don't know what is.
What a phenomenal ending to the greatest T.V. show ever. The only thing I didn't like... After the show faded to black, they went to commercials before rolling the credits. I thought that was really shitty of FX.
One of the best TV series. Holy shit that was intense!

The Shield FTW

What a phenomenal ending to the greatest T.V. show ever. The only thing I didn't like... After the show faded to black, they went to commercials before rolling the credits. I thought that was really shitty of FX.

agreed. this song playing during the credits THEN commercials would have been perfect

I am glad Mr Shawn Ryan did not kill Mackey and that he let the BRILLIANT character and show live on in our heads. KUDOS!!!

Once I finish completing a couple other finishing series in my DVD collection, the Shield is next on my list to add. Fantastic series.
