@subalfie I remember when he passed away. He was with UPN, and the news staff were so sad. They had to report the news the same night he passed away, and they couldn't hide their tears while on air.
OMG I was 9 & I remember watching them on Channel 2 back in 1988. I started 4th Grade around this time. I miss Reggie Harris, he was a great anchor and I remember Diane Dimond and Rock Rote on Channel 2. I didn't remember John Bolaris being on Channel 2 in the 80's but I know he was here in the early 2000's. This brings back memories.
DARN ME!!! I forgot all about Reggie Harris. Didn't know he died of a heart attack. I was so busy then, running around the country.Tragic to go so young. Would anyone happen to know what was the cause of the coronary?
Diane Dimond is not a journalist. She has only a high school education. She never graduated from an accredited university with a degree in journalism. Would you like to know how she worked her way up to programs like Entertainment Tonight? Well, youve heard of the casting couch, havent you? Shes still obsessed with Michael Jackson because he sued her for defamation and won and wiped her out financially.
Diane Dimond was so low on the totem pole. She went from the fill-in weekend anchor to that trash tabloid TV show "Hard Copy." For the past 15 years, she's made her career out of trying to destroy Michael Jackson.
And what is so sad, after I found out she is married to Michael Schoden (used to be weekend anchor now midday drive anchor) on WCBS 880, I couldn't listen to him anymore. Though he is a sane journalist compared to his wife - and that attempt to destroy MJ really turned me off of her (and her spouse, and he would /never/ do such thing!) Apparently after people who left WCBS-TV, they became insane reporters. Now its the opposite.
wow i had no idea that reggie harris died. thats very sad. What did he die from?

lol "this is channel 2 news saturday, everything you need to know because anything can happen in new york"
what does something that happened in Texas have to do with New York? did they actually send a WCBS news correspondant to Texas? how crazy is this!

The "Anything can happen in New York" was an image campaign for the station in the late 80s. The tagline appeared in the promo gfx at that time.

Looked like the Yankees lost another game to the Sox, 3-1.

So I see by this point Gaylord Avery was announcing all Channel 2 News opens, prior to his retirement from CBS.
