When I watched episodes 1-6 in a row, this song was just the perfect ending. It was the saddest departure from the second greatest fantasy creation in history. The things I would do to just stay in that world...
its amazing how awesome the star wars movies are apart from other films, I mean I feel bad for even counting star wars as films, they are something more for me.. and the music is just brilliant.. its a perfect soundtrack for a perfect ending.
I love this scene and the music, and it brings a tear to my eye. I understand your feelings allldin, and this is emotional as it's the final Star Wars episode.
I was actually devestated when I found out that this music wasn't in the original ending. I first watched the 1997 editions and they're the ones I'l always like best. Even the odd music in Jabba's palace is great to me...
@Lostprophetzzz I'm afraid you are mistaken. In the theatrical cut of ANH, the scene between Han and Jabba was not present. The scene with the human actor playing Jabba which you are referring to was intended for the original cut but with the human replaced by stop-motion animation, and the scene was cut in postproduction because it wasn't adding anything. The scene was not present in any released cut of ANH prior to the CG Jabba in 1997.
@satmandoo I agree completely. This song feels happy and like you've just accomplished something. The Yub Nub was boring, in my opinion, and I kept on saying to myself, "This is cool and all but when will it play the victory music?
@1BLOOD1COLD I agree there shouldn't be an episode VII because even though a bunch of fans seem to want it. If it got made though those same people would get pissed of and say stuff like "It's the worst thing to happen since the holiday special or the prequals." and "Lucas you raped my childhood....again!"
@pridakfan253 Actually, That depends. I'd much frankly would like to see movies made from books dating from 6-10 ABY.... Courtship of Princess Leia, for example, would make a killer film, I think.
@1BLOOD1COLD I genuinely love that you don't think the Star Wars movies have been ruined yet. I don't share your sentiment, but I love that you have it.
@1BLOOD1COLD True, Lucas said that he first planned to kill Solo, and make Leia queen of Naboo and leaving Luke alone. That's where 7,8 and 9 goes on, with 9 killing the Emperor. But after the great succes of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Lucas changed his mind and made the Ewoks, still defeating The Emperor and letting Solo alive. He said that people wanted happy ends, not miserable. I thank Lucas for his change of mind! He made the best Trilogy ever
It was my first marathon to be honest, and I remember that the finale scene had a bit of a stronger impact than I remembered it having for ROTJ, or the entire Original Trilogy for that matter.
Perhaps this enhanced sense of completion felt was shared by others, made us appreciate the song even more, leading us to look for it here on YouTube.
@GreatFox42 Yes, thats mainly it, you see i like to buy the soundtracks to all the movies i watch. Yes, it's a bit OCD but never mind, but i like to listen to them on youtube first, i do it with Doctor Who too!
I am by no means a Star Wars fan, but this music brings me to tears.
I prefer this version over the original because from this one, I can feel the joy of freedom restored by the courage of the brave heroes, and of those who have fallen in battle; a goal achieved through years of hardship and pain.
IMO the tune of Yub Nub did not fit the scene where the souls of the Jedi appeared before Luke. This music tells us that Anakin can now be at peace, and for Luke to continue the legacy.
"Ora va, figlio mio. Lasciami." / "Non ti lascerò, devo salvarti" / "Lo hai già fatto, Luke. Avevi ragione, avevi ragione nei miei riguardi. Di' a tua sorella...che avevi ragione..." TT_____TT
@tron81 I don't live in the USA and I'm not crazy, work on your insults please that was awful... It's best not to make assumptions over the internet. And let me guess the USA is all about sanity and peace, and religion is inherently evil..? You fucking puppet... Get a life you joke.
@snoopatomicdog you're crazy if you think we have a dictatorship. "USA is all about sanity and peace, and religion is inherently evil." Yep pretty much.
This piece of music is so beautiful, it makes Greedo Shooting First, unnecessary additions of Jabba the Hutt, removal of the line "you're lucky you don't taste very good," and Vader's new-found "No. NOOOO!" all worthwhile.
@AnnihilatorCZ I don't think it was the Ewoks; I just think the Rebel soldiers beat the Imperial soldiers. And Chewie stealing one of the walking tanks probably had something to do with it.
Unless you're playing Battlefront 2 on the PS2. In that case, the Ewoks deserve ALL the credit...
@shadowsean2009 Darth Tyranus was probably okay with it. He should be pleased that ol' Palpatine gets payback for betraying him, right? So maybe it was Grand Moff Tarkin who had the other Dislike.
i predicted the title of the 3rd prequel years before the name of the movie was realeased, revenge of the sith, and also return of the jedi was swicted from revenge of the jedi, return is a better choice, and the rest is history

i was just about to say i was gonna post this on my facebook because of osama's death, but now i can see everyone's already comparing this music to that haha, awesome
@bluereaper75 yeah right appropriate.. sight of people cheering over obl death was so disguisting i cant belive there are someone still beliving he is responsible for 9-11. real war criminals and legal terrorists are walking free dont let the dark side fool you
Yea, I'm a bit sickened at how much people are celebrating a death. I don't care if it was America's Most Wanted, it's still someone who died. Then all those redneck morons crowded outside the White House doing their little partying bullshit... You know what a newspaper headline I saw said? "Burn in Hell".
Post Laden death propaganda is like Nazi Germany propaganda. ><
@RidingBesideMe Yeah, except there is a big difference. We celebrate that a murderer and a criminal is dead. The nazis killed innocent people and celebrated.
@MAriNeMandM True, but we should't have celebrated with the death of Osama. He is not worth the cheer, i belive this song shall be when we are at the blink of destruction with a Greater enemy like the GALACTIC EMPIRE or if u want real the only enemies that should be cheer over are the NAZIS, besides them i cant think of any one else for now. The future will give us another Empire, evil always returns.
Emperor Palpatine, Moff Jerjerrod, Admiral Piett, Darth Vader (before), Captain Pellaeon, Osvald Teshik and Colonel Dyer dislike

@satmandoo same here....
the 1997 versions are underrated.
Jabba being consistent.
(in the original ANH he was human, then suddenly an alien in ROTJ)
(whereas he is alien in both in the 1997)
and it has this song.
which frankly destroys "Yub Nub"

@grivs

MAriNeMandM 7 months ago 5
@MAriNeMandM True, but we should't have celebrated with the death of Osama. He is not worth the cheer, i belive this song shall be when we are at the blink of destruction with a Greater enemy like the GALACTIC EMPIRE or if u want real the only enemies that should be cheer over are the NAZIS, besides them i cant think of any one else for now. The future will give us another Empire, evil always returns.
