  • Jasmin is amazing..... I just... love her.

  • Beautiful

  • Thumbs up if you thought the Choir Director was going to cry at the end?...Beautiful work Kids!

  • The girl singing the solo looks like a 10 year old Sanaa Lathan

  • FALL ON YOUR KNEES, (I actually did)

  • Wow, I'm stunned. This is truly amazing. In this cynical world it's hard to be touched by anything these days but this did touch me. Beautiful!

  • BEAUTIFUL. WONDERFUL. HALLELUJAH! GLORY TO GOD! THANK YOU JESUS. THANK YOU FOR FILLING THESE YOUNG PEOPLE WITH YOUR SPIRIT! ~ HALLELUJAH! BLESS THEM ALL LORD. Please do not let one of them ever, ever, ever, ever stray from You. Please save them all. Please Lord! Please, please. Let them fall on their knees and receive YOU this Christmas, I pray. In the MIGHTY Name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen and AMEN.

  • The willingness and hopefulness that these children show bring tears to my eyes. The instructor is doing something amazing. A lot of children do not get to experience something like this until high school. This is amazing.

  • i think the word changes are awesome..."we learn to love one another" is a good message to sing about. love this one. Thanks, Mr. B!!!!

  • oh holy moly night! amazing

  • The kids did a beautiful job, as always...and altho i understand some of the reasons for the word changes...I think being true to the original would be an acceptable choice, just as the songs from other traditions are sung as well.

One song you might want to look into is Melissa Etheridge's version, called Oh Night Divine. Retains the original tune more or less, but is enough of a different song that I don't think ppl will have the negative reaction. it is non sectarian and beautiful as well

  • I just cried with joy from seeing this! This is why I want to be a teacher! Thank you for posting this!!!!

  • And THAT is one BIG reason why I homeschool my son. There is NO "Holy Night" if you take Christ out of it! Why bother singing the song? It makes no sense!

  • @TracyLeesie Good. Glad you and your progeny are staying home. In case nobody else has broken the news, "Christmas" is a made up holiday. The historical Jesus was born in the spring. The reason people celebrate it in December is because the Christians in Europe needed to co-opt the winter solstice. Bringing a tree in was a pagan tradition. Santa Claus is Nordic. The spirit of Christmas that has made the power of the holiday survive the facts is the spirit of generosity and love.

  • @TracyLeesie If you ask any of the kids in this chorus if they'd rather be homeschooled to learn proper religious lyrics, they'd probably ask you if you've got a screw loose. This chorus exemplifies beautifully what you might bereave your son of: Phenomenal success and experiences through team-work and cooperation.

  • qe bonita cantare un villansico de esa cancion yo esta super linda :P

  • Absolutely adore the high note!!! :-O Love it!

  • beautiful song, beautiful children....

  • The best version of "O holy night" I have heard, and it`s sung by children :D

    P.S. 7 People have no feelings ;D

  • Love it... The emotions from all the kids are so sensible !!! Congratulations

  • 5 minutes of peace...

  • Oh my.... Love the harmonizing at the end!!! Beautiful work!

  • They're totally into it, love it... But next time they should stand so their voices can be fully extended... I'm not a Christian, but I'm also not a fan of changing the lyrics.

  • This is really really fantastic! I love PS22 chorus :) but i have to agree with several comments below me and say that i'm kinda disappointed in the changing of the words. As my choir director words it, when you sing, you act. If you don't agree with the words, that's when the acting comes in. But I really really love this chorus! Keep up the good work guys!

  • i love his little spaz attack at the end! :D

  • This brings tears to me.

Beautiful children; they don't even know how incredible and important they are. --And the Choir Director!! What a beautiful man! He is honestly changing the lives of so, so many! ..I too work very hard to help children, and to lift them up. We need more angels like this on earth! ....So beautiful....

    Sending Love to all!

  • they be so into....awwww

  • "o hear the angel voices"

that was EXACTLY what iw as listening too ...

    they're angels! all of them

  • So beautiful<3333 :') and I like your little exciting moment at the end, hahah. :)

  • Video posted on my twelfth birthday.

    This is amazing.

    :]

  • i loved the last 4 seconds... ohh my ohh my! he is kinda wacky and goofy...we love it

  • Teacher, your reaction at the end of the song was just like mine. That's so good. Even with the minor word changes, the song still has a great impact. The kids were almost angelic! Amazing voices! Thanks for sharing ps22 with the world. We love you guys!

  • stunning

  • Everything about this is awesome except for the PC-lyric-changing crap.

  • that was really sweet. consider singing the original french lyrics next year. that would be a fun challenge for these very talented kids to sing. consider it. congrats

  • that was really great... even though i'm quite the left winger i'm not a fan of altering art for the sake of political correctness... "when christ was born" was removed. Anyway. this is a great choir. Next year consider singing it in the original French. That could be fun for these very talented kids. congrats.

  • How sweet is this!!!!! :-)))

  • My heart skipped a beat. I am speechless. Makes me want to be a kid again, just so I could join this choir! :)

  • @dorkinabubble -- nope. but i kinda can see what you mean. :) and thanks! this is probably my favorite ps22 full chorus christmas performance, so i'm glad you enjoyed! :)

  • Your work is inspiring <3 i love it x well done!

  • Beautiful job! Your work inspires me in mine.

  • Mr. B We love your chorus here on the West Coast! Keep up the great work. You're an inspiration to us music teachers/choir directors out there.

  • mi querido profesor, my darling teacher and yours children;congratulations!!!!!!! son hermosos, maravillosos, plenos de amor y entrega a la música.Mi total admiración a ti, Greg y a ésta bendición llamada PS22CHORUS!!!!THANKS.uruguay.ELIMA

  • What joy for me to see and hear what you and your kids sing. I will not use the X box

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

  • Thoroughly agnostic here, but this is my very favourite Christmas carol. Haunting and beautiful versions. Gave me chills. Keep up the amazing work!

  • @ariencrossby i completely agree! ditto. on all counts.

  • Goosebumps. A pure and beautiful version that respects the spirit of Christmas. Peace be with you Greg and all at PS22.

  • this brought me to to tears

  • omg i watch all you guys videos its just so wondeful to see you so into it very inspirational, you all are my Idols

  • What i find funny is that i learn all the revised lyrics to the traditional songs, and then i go to sing to one of the traditional ones and i forget he original lyrics! Excellent job!

  • They use the words "Christmas". They haven't taken out Christ, in fact I think they've enhanced Christ's visions. Peace to all our brothers.

    In and out of Christ.

To those who complain, I offer James 1:19/20

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God."

  • Very beautiful but the 2nd line is "It is the night of the dear Savior's birth!".

2nd line is "With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand"

Why are they are taking Christ out of it?

    Anyone?

  • I have said it before and I'll say it again, I love you guys. The world is a better place because of your work and these kids!

  • cant tel u how much i love this. thank u.

  • this IS the Christmas spirit!!!

  • Amazing and a positive force in today's world. I'm passing this video on to my relatives.

  • I would like you to know that this song was running through my head as I was taking a final. I spaced out like four times thinking about it. If I fail, I'm blaming you. The song is great, I'm glad I got it stuck in there. But could you stay out when I need to concentrate? Please?

  • i think it's a fake. I mean those kids visibly are not singing what we are listening to.

But my english is very bad i can't explain.

  • If you watch all of the other videos you'll se that they were trained so be very dramatic while singing. They are really singing and they are really good. I've seen this choir on the news before. They are well lnown in their city and in the country.

  • well, think again

  • yeah that makes a lot of sense, they had the time to fake all 300 videos on this channel =="

  • woah!

  • phenomenal.

  • Awesome job! You can see a generation of passionate souls ready to will live the music inside them!

  • Comment removed

  • You guys continue to impress me!! Great job PS22!!!

  • these kids are so talented!

  • Beautiful.

  • Make a CD of these kids-- I would buy it as is-- meaning- raw and not overdone. Pure soul.

    Get to work!

    Barb

  • i agree! I would love a CD

    These kids are amazing.

they put so much emotion in the songs they sing. It gives them an even better meaning.

  • I actually prefer the revised lyrics. Now I can identify to some extend with this song (and feel all "christmassy") even though I'm not a christian. So thanks.

  • Beautiful but the word changes were more distracting than anything else.

  • This is my favorite Chirstmas carol, and this version is STUNNING. Props.

  • It's not just about word changes...it's taking the whole meaning out of CHRISTmas. Just not as inspiring changing the word "He" to "It." =P

  • yes. ps22 killed christmas. (?!)

  • Man. And I had already made up my list to Santa. I guess I will just have to remember that the season is about giving, love, spending time with family, and gratitude (no matter your religion) and be grateful that you have given us so many years of music with your kids that I LOVE to listen to!!!

  • Mr. B, PS22 did not kill Christmas. I watch these young artists and see the passion they put into their music. They are giving up their hearts and soul for this song. The true meaning of this season is giving. You and your talented students have given us hours of extraordinary music. Keep up the excellent work!

  • lol

  • @agreggofsociety I actually felt the changes DEEPENED the meaning of the song. Someone who wants "Christ" in Christmas should still be able to find him there.

  • I love when children sing and these children are amazing. I would truly buy some of their x mas songs on cd or on mp3's through i tunes.

    Barbara

  • I would by a CD of these kids! They are amazing - this song is like a prayer!

  • Gregg that was amazing! I love these kids! They are so phenomenal! these kids are so greatful to have you as the're teacher. God Bless you all, Have a fantastic hoilday. I also give kudos to you all!

  • awesome.

  • truly awesome.

  • Bravo! Absolutely beautiful!!

My favourite Christmas Carol so well sung!!

    Kudos Kids!!

  • I can't believe people are complaining about word changes and not just appreciating the absolute beauty of the kids voices and the purity with which they sing---

as an educator... you pick your battles!

when something sounds THIS AMAZING I say the word changes are worth it... otherwise we might not be hearing it AT ALL!!

  • I understand your point. You're right, without the word changes we might not even be hearing it. I sang this in junior high school, we sang the actual words, and some people got upset. Yet, no one got upset when we sang the story of Chanukah, or Kwanzaa. People just get upset when you sing about Jesus- why? --- I already commented on this video, but I'll comment again lol- I love their voices, they are beautiful. The passion they sing with is inspiring. Beautiful!!!!

  • Tell me about it Damuxikal1. I agree with your ponderance.

However you feel about religion/christmas whatever - thsi song is beautiful and these kids perform beautifully.

  • Yes they do. I was just replying to a comment i had seen.

  • I really enjoyed this video. Great kids, good job, man.

One thing that would be nice is to move your PA output closer to your mic for the kids' solos. I could barely hear them over the piano :(

  • this is sooo beautiful i can thruly cry:P

  • Great singing...wish they hadn't changed the lyrics

  • BEAUTIFUL! Everyone is singing with such emotion!

  • Oh night divine, oh night when Christ was born!

I prefer the original ...keep the Christ in Christmas!

It's a shame... these kids did a wonderful job and sing with such passion..but the passion is about someone's birth..the Savior's birth

  • Oh, boy... this brought me tears... Amazing, Greg, kids, amazing!! The two little soloists are amazing themselves too! =) Congratulations on it, it's a great rendition!

  • funny end....cool ppl,liked it much.

Hope these young lives will be great,

    God bless!

  • the harmony was super good for kids. oh my god. i've never heard a better children's choir.

  • Wow.

  • wow that was just beautiful! Thank u 4 sharing :)

  • Beautiful harmonies. These kids are getting better and better! Albert has an absolutely beautiful vocal tone, and he and Jasmin blend really, really well with one another! Great job, PS22 Chorus! Love how deeply you feel what you're singing.

  • pure love,pure joy

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • it really is goosebumping, and i didn't believe it, but here i am, having goosebumps every minute and almost crying

  • absolutely the most beautiful ♥ thank you

  • AMAZING!

  • Beautiful Singing!! Angelic Voices!

    It is all about JESUS!

  • insanely good. what an amazing, haunting performance. pure christmas.

  • Awesome job Kids!! One of my fav. songs

  • very upset at the word changes...

    beautiful voices, though.

  • wow that was amazing. Its crazy how the ENTIRE chorus sings with so much emotion. Its great to see so many different soloists this year, all who nail it. This song was great. And great Piano accompaniment Mr. B!

  • I can't get enough of this video. I could watch it all day.

  • i never thought i could have goosebumps that long GOOD JOB!

  • :( i wish you didn't have to change the words, but it's beautiful!

  • Watching again this morning. Brings me peace just listening. :) And, I love the ending where you get excited Mr. B. Sweet!

  • I think you all did amazing as always

the only thing I dont get is why change the songs actual lyrics cause it kinda takes the meaning from the song away

But hey im not complaning or anything as such as I think you all did great its a nice version regardless but yeah I just wondered

  • Angels, angels with heavenly voices. Thank you!

  • i dont think that yall should have changed the words. the whole purpose of the song is because of Christ. But of course there will be parents that would get mad. Great Job though.

  • I wish you kept to the orginal words...but INCREDIBLE nonetheless...

  • this gave me chills. absolutely beautiful.

  • really good:)

  • TEARS!! so well done! BRAVO!!

  • So cool that you and your kids do the music

They will Never forget what you have put in each ones heart . Thanks from Earl in Huntington Beach Ca.

  • This was nice. It is sad you had to change the words, but I understand why. Still, they did a nice job.

  • dont listen to any complaints about this, this was awesome! the kids were great! i loved it!

  • If anyone one complained about this they are nuts, it's breathtaking! It's utterly beautiful and the kids love it.

  • You and your chorus work miracles my friend.....

  • amazing job. but wish you would have kept the original words.

  • I love how physically expressive the children are while singing.

  • I got chills watching this! Breathtaking! Keep up the great work :]

  • best so far this year by far... FABULOUS! well done to you all

  • pretty voices. very very unfortunate you had to chance the true lyrics and leave jesus out of it, the real reason for christmas, and the main purpose of this song. telling the story of jesus' birth. sad.

  • love "sniffy" at 4:10 -- can't stop watching this one!

  • oh my.. ya'll made me cry... Amazing! you are all an inspiration...

  • So inspiring...

  • You should record and sell a Christmas album.

  • so so amazing!

  • 1 word... amazing.

  • beautiful and amazing

  • Beautiful performance but I agree with others. I'm sad the words were changed. The original version is so much more meaningful. Keep up the good work.

  • Their harmony's were just beautiful! Amazinggg Job. But...he meaning of the song was totally stripped. Christmas IS about Christ. (CHRISTmas). U know?the meaning of the song is about when Christ was born.(Holy Night). I undrstand that evry1 doesnt celebrate christmas, but this is what this song is about...the celebration of Jesus. I dont understand what it could b about if it's not about Him. Again, they r all talented n u r a great teacher.

  • oh i just had to share this with my facebook friends. ya'll just made my day.

  • I definitely understand having to be politically correct in a public school, and think it's okay you changed the words. It's still a marvelous version!

  • i went to a public school and we never changed the words to silent night in our choir. who could possibly ever be offended by silent night in its original form? bleh.

  • Holy moly. This is the BEST video I have seen from PS22. Simply amazing and breathtaking.

    GREAT job everyone! :D Wow.

  • simply beautiful! Great job guys! Hope to one day see you live! Where is the school located? what city/ state!? you guys are all so talented keep up the great work and God bless!

  • It's in Staten Island, NY

  • this is so amazing..... i love these kids.

  • What can I say? I'm floored. Thank you!

  • This was so great!!

  • Beautiful harmony as always! However, I am surprised by this song choice. The original message of it is to tell the story of the night Jesus was born. I realize some of the students may be Jewish, etc. so why not pick a Hannukah or other song? I am Christian and am not offended by this version. Nor would i be opposed to a Hebrew song. But why change the words to something that to me is the most beautiful song of the season? But great job! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all !!! :)

  • @aw36 I think this was a case of "better safe than sorry" being that this is a public school, and these videos get thousands of views...someone would have complained. It only takes one complaint...

  • Breathtaking!! im like i dont know what to say. its amazing the best! like just =0

  • Nice...

    =D Happy Christmas

  • Oh my, oh my....

    this moved me to tears.

    Incredible!

    one gazillion stars!

  • AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG :)

  • 0_o

  • The kids are amazing...but why were the words changed? Alternative words were nice... just sadden that they replaced the words that were meant to glorify the reason for the season :(

  • this one was amazing! seriously just moving and...wow...just wow...

    ~a

  • such holy voices. ^^

  • are those the simpsons on their shirts? :D

  • Beautiful Job. Why'd you guys change the words?!

  • i would LOVE to see them sing When u belive **,

  • I was in tears by the 40 second mark. So beautiful.

  • Good job on modifying the song so they wouldn't fade on notes that could have been too low for them. I noticed that the words are a bit different than what I'm used to singing. It would be good to have them on the screen like you did for "African Lion." This was excellent. You and the chorus keep on inspiring everyone!

  • I agree, I'd love to be able to read what your alternative lyrics were.

  • It really touches my heart to see the looks on these kids faces as they sing from their heart, you can tell that it means something to them. Great job, the world needs more teacers like you. God bless

  • Stunning.

  • 4:58 lol

  • Its simply amazing =3=

  • i love how into all their songs they sing they get into... its fantastik

  • :O Brilliant job! nice work kids!

  • I hear many angel voices.. WOW, I need to share this. IF THIS DOESN'T PUT YOU IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT, NOTHING WILL.

  • speechless.....

  • I know I will catch a lot of heat from the Youtube population. However, I hate when we have to divert from the original lyrics of this song. People might get upset that I feel this way. However, what if they changed the lyrics of some of our favorite songs growing up?

These children have such lovely voices and have an amazing talent. Will this school get in that much trouble if you mention the word "Christ" in a Christmas song?

  • wow... tears inducing moment

  • Amazingly beautiful.

  • Love it.....Love it....Love it....and Mr B's reaction at the end....priceless...how about a holiday concert? what a great fundraiser for the music program?

  • amazing!
