My point is: how can Dubai compete with Paris, New York or London as a luxury big city? Weather? Dust everywhere. People? Too different from western people (Europe, US...). Class, history, taste? Judging by the cars (pink Rolls Royces and 23" wheeled Lamborghinis), I would say none. In 4 or 5 decades' time (when petrol runs out and rich people fly back to Europe and US), that will be a ghost emirate... With dust and dunes all over, and an old wreckage of an orange Maybach here and there...

may be Dubai rises tooo fast, but it has a great future in the modernity and luxury even more than what it has today.

about oil, did you know that the Dubai emirate as whole is the less depending emirate no oil income ?? it depends mainly on business and tourism.

so, you may say that about Riyadh or Kuwait or Muscat,

but not Dubai, people there is becoming so educated, so smart and so planned more and more.

You sense wrong. I live in Paris my friend, one of the most amazing cities in the world. History, tradition, class. Not a fast food place like Dubai. Rich, I don't doubt, but artificial, plastic. Give it 50 years and history will put Dubai in its right place...
