You know if we want to live in a democracy that allows us to think and talk about anything we like we need to get rid of these power hungry money crazy pollies they are starting to practise mind control,They care little about our children
@love2punk They should care, so should most other western countries. If Australia does it, then it could create a precedent for other countries to follow suite.
@love2punk Well its the reason a lot of people from overseas are giving for caring. Everything is easier and more accepted if someone else is already doing it. even national policy. Why do u think conroy kept (falsley) claiming the UK etc had the same kinda filters in place.
and yes the children need to be protected while online but isnt net nanny and other filtering programs capable of doing this without a higher authority taking action its just more of the hard working australians money being spent on crap that isnt 100% secure to begin with there will always be 1 in 1000 sites slipping through besides that what the fuck does it matter to the government what sexual fantasy online some have its there own personal business NOT the australian governements to decide!
fuck australia for its fucked up laws burn the flag and lets be done with it the australian covernment dont work with the people they work against them its clear now there is no freedom of speech if this is whats happening now to the net in australia
yawn! Commuinist? really? You part of the Liberal party? This is the sort of scare mongering that they used for years!
The filtering they wish to use is no different to what happens off line and last time I looked you could say just about what ever you liked against the government. Even videos that make no sense at all (i.e. like this one).
You obviously don't understadn what they plan to filter very well at all or the whole concept in general, it is said the australian filter that has been proposed will be even strickter than iran and china's
In addition to the entrenched rights you mentioned, the High Court also interpreted the constitution in the case Australian Capital Television Pty Ltd v Commonwealth [1992] HCA 45; (1992) to give the IMPLIED right to political communication.
I guess that could become relevant in this issue, depending on what is censored.
Well, I treated what you said in this video in this way: "Government does not allow me to cross the road until the pedestrian light is green for our good, but I just do not like the feeling being limited by government".
Government is just doing its job, to protect Australia and and Australian people.
Now, the problem is that it is uncertain if the government is going to be "watching" what their citizens are looking or not. But well.. that shouldn't be a problem (this is my opinion) because as far as i'm not doing anything ilegal (like entering pedestrian sites), i will have no problem at all (as far as the information they get keeps confidencial).
(Sorry for the double post, but youtube didn't let me post both things together)
Well.. they are not actually censoring it, they are just making the companies to have 2 set of internet plans, one with limited access (for schools and for whoever wants to have that at home and prevent there kids from watching porn).
We should ask Michael what's black and white yeah, yeah, yeah!!! On a serious note I agree.... I hear about also they limit the amount you can download each month as well. LAME!
NO. CLEAN. FEED.

Always nice to have a hot girl on the side of freedom... Also nice to have girls more interested in rights & freedoms over Cosmo, or American Idol.

Australians Rights are actually very limited in the Constitution. We have.
1, The right to vote.
2, Protection against acquisition of property on unjust terms.
3, The right to a trial by jury.
4, Freedom of religion.
5, Prohibition of discrimination on the basis of State of residency.
And that's it, if you can call those rights?
