To BhuvaneshB: with due respect I dont think this song is based on Bilaskhani Todi. In my humble opinion it is more likely in Mian ki Todi or raag lALIT because of the use of Ma tivar and komal together.

Based on a true story somewhere in present Karnataka,Basant Bahar was a fine movie.All the songs were exceptionally good,SJ's compositions were very different from their usual ones, not much of heavy orchestra.Nimmi's performance needs special mention.Thanks.

Shanker-Jaikishen, deserve great credit. Manna Dey's "Sur na saje, kya gaon mein'' is equally unforgettable. Have you noticed that most of Mohammed Rafi's 'bhajans,'starting from Baiju Bawra, were picturized on the late Bharat Bhoosan

A very close friend owned the cinema-hall where this film was being screened and entrance was free for me. I found this song so melodious and enchanting that I watched this scene everyday for a fortnight or so. It still haunts me as it did during my youth.
