excellent attention to detail and I love the multiple operations taking place at the station. Certainly captures the realism of a busy train station. Thanks for sharing!
die züge halten zu abprupt, d.h. zu schnell. Besser wäre eine langsame veringerung der geschwindikeit gewesen, ebenso die langsame erhöhung der geschwindigkeit beim losfahren,
Very nice period layout, however a few suggestions / criticisms if I may. (1) Stick to the period set, obviously a steam era (late 50's ?). (2) Don't run electric locos without catenary unless being hauled - it doesn't look right., even worse when there is catenary and the pans are still down (Minaturworld in Hamburg is guilty of this). (3) Stick to trains in the area modelled - I did notice the BR491 (glass train) sneak in / out and an Austrian 1020
I love the trains from Hamburg that drove there in 1960, or era3, epoche 3. And hamburg Altona is also very interesting with their double turntable. Is there a connection with Altoona Pensylvannia, I like the American trains as well. Good luck, down under!!
@02081912Frabas Ja.
Superb construction! If I had a space of my own to do this (where my wife couldn't see!), I would definitely splash out on a train set. Great handiwork, don't stop, you're an expert at it.
I dont know how much it cost but I managed to purchase most of the items 25 years ago when Continental models were comparitively not so expensive. For example the tracks were bought cheaply in 3 boxes each containing 100 yards of flexible track. Other tracks and much of the turnoffs and trains were second hand. The roundhouse and many other items were built cheaply from cardboard. and yes, it was worth it!
I really like your model of Hamburg's Bahnhof. I visited Hamburg for a few days about 10 years ago, and rode suburban trains including the AKN to Kaltenkirchen.
My maternal grandmother's family was from Germany, they were originally from the Saartal region.
Yes, with my older type non-DCC layout it is possible to manually control a single train more realistically but at the time I was pre-occupied with 9 trains, my digital camera (not a dedicated video camera) and most frustrating of all Parkinson's which I wouldnt wish on anybody.
More realistic running can be obtained using the new generation DCC systems - a very notable outstanding layout successfully using the new generation controls is that of RCSYSTEM14.
great layout..it really looks as if it gives you much joy..a real release...from the world...a special bond with yourself..something only you know how to do...
The trains are operated with the aid of 8 Fleischmann relays which allow 7 trains on the main line. Nine trains can run at one time. Manual override via many DPDT switches. For more views of the layout search on "burgerbahn" in Youtube or in Yahoo for my home page which has lots of pictures.

Fantastic layout, from my point of view only, it needs British outline trains. Is it 2 or 3-rail powered?

Very nice layout! But it seems to me, that the trains don't mind the signals in the front.

This is a private layout or a public visitation layout? If its a public visitation layout, where it is located and in which country?
