I can't even do stickhandling xD I only can skate pretty good.. (not better than others in my country (the netherlands)) We are good ice skaters but nobody plays hockey here:P (only field hockey............) So I can only practice my hockey skills when it is freezing (and that means 1 week a year skating......)

Second thing; when making a deke, your skates are as or even more important than your hands.

When it come to rule a game no player does it like a Russian. Why? Generally, we teach skating in top speed and shooting. These are important, but we tend to lack in agility and puck control.

They teach dekes and acceleration. Their player rather play one on one than shooting like we are used too.

Both can be good.

Stickhandling is just a matter of setting the other player in a certain position so you can take advantage of it.

Obviously, the best way to outplay a good player is not by using dangles; a good defense man plays a position and rarely plays the puck. So, you have to use this puck and yourself to guide him were he shouldn't.

Acceleration, deceleration, angle change, sharp turns are the way to gain this extra edge that will allow you to gain what you were looking for.
