  • All I can say is it's worth going back to basics more nutrition whether it's poultry, beef, fruits, veggies, ect. it's all about back to basics in my book great video by the way! keep it up!

  • But I do wish all meat eaters would be as conscious as this. However why was the killing of the chickens not shown?

  • Damn. I couldnt kill chickens like this. Its unnecessary.

  • im surprised you arnt going to fry them

  • video isn't particularly informative

  • @animalliberation0961

Over 20 years ago I was involved with California Raptor Rescue. Monthly we would go to Petaluma and buy 10,000 baby chicks to feed to the Great Horned Owls and other raptors. The point of the program was to save wounded birds and abandoned raptor chicks. If we did not do this work the birds would've died.

How do you feel about that? Should we have killed those baby chicks to feed the other birds? Do you have any understanding how life lives on other life?

  • I can taste it now. No mercy for the hens. lol. Too bad where I live the city of Orlando restricts the raising of poultry.

  • i wish all meat could be raised this way.

  • This is very cool. Your kids left school and there we 20 chickens in the yard, they came home and the freezer is tied shut.

  • did you REALLY just equate my ancestors with farm animals? how dare you! These are chickens, not human beings. If god didn't want us to eat animals, he shouldn't have made them so delicious.

  • HA! I always though it was weird and ironic how some animal rights groups are so militant and behave so violently.

Raising animals humanely is the compromise between strict/forced vegetarianism and cruel factory farms.

Compromise is good. Extremism can never win.

And BTW, when chickens rule the planet, then I'll believe your crazy coo coo ramblings. kay? ^___^

And HOW is she a traitor? Is she part chicken? lol!

  • How cute! you think I actually care that much!

Well, if Someone tries to raise me as livestock, I'll try to be as tasty as I can, 'kay? ^___^

  • Not very bright, are you? "'Kay?"

  • Adorable!

  • Slavery isn't pleasant, but it's not necessarily evil.

  • You need a reality check.

  • It's great to see the cycle of life completed and coming full circle. It is the chicken's destiny to be raised and then eaten. And that man is 100% correct, it does taste better than the birds from the store.

  • Have you ever processed your own chickens? It isn't too hard and not as messy or gross as I thought but it is a job! I did 18 myself and it took me a couple weekends but it was so rewarding to know that I could do it and that the chickens were fed well, treated humanely and not full of chemicals. Keep the videos coming! The are so inspiring!

  • Your adsense account is using keywords associated with your video and pulls up ads for Tyson Chicken Nuggets at the same time your video puts them down indirectly when you say how much better your meat is than factory farms produce. I haven't decided what to think about this so I'm not judging your video just yet.

    Cheers,

    x:)

  • Thanks for posting this, as I noticed you've got both chickens and rabbits. You're very lucky to have someone who will process the meat birds for you, as I think that prevents allot of folks from trying to grow chickens for meat.

  • You have a very lucky husband.

  • hey i guess you never have too go food shopping for meat lol sell them hens in your neighbor hood make some serious cash

  • very nice and true. you raise them for food not as pets bravo. im hungry....

  • Cool video...I never thought about using a processor...Maybe I CAN raise my own birds...Thought of killing them has kept me from trying it

  • Did the chicken processor actually kill your cornish hens? Was there a trade? You left your cornish hens to be raised by the processor, and then left with hens the chicken proscssor had raised and slaughtered?

  • I drop them off in the morning and pick them up later that day after he had completed processing them. I raised the birds.

  • i love this video your not afraid of negative comments due to you having your poultry slaughtered i think its great you raised your own i used to work at a slaughter house and the best meat always came from home raised stock

  • Yeah, those were big for game hens. I do thank you that you didn't show the actual slaughter though. I'm pretty sure I could still eat them afterwards, but I don't want to chance being wrong. hehe. Cool guy though!

  • Personally I think it would have been better to show it. A lot of small chicken producers do slaughter and pluck their own. Would be more realistic what you're getting into. Most places don't have small processors to process for you.

  • yeah, i would feel sorry at that moment there, saying "bye" to them and thinking I'd have them in my tummy soon... i suppose knowing they had a decent life (unlike those in the supermarket) is at least a consolation. beautiful video, bravo.

  • Thank you, i have been nervous on how people would react. Patti

  • aww, i could never eat a chicken knowing i was the one who has known it since it was 1 day old!

  • I'd rather know that the bird has been fed and cared for then what you can get at the supermarket.

  • great video patti.

I love the old stories of how people used to live, off nothing but what they produced, my mother and grandparents, were just the same.

I wish I had the land to do it all :)

  • Awesome. Looks delicious. Those seemed much bigger than the one's ya can buy at the store.
