  • They should call it smellenium am I right?

  • @Every1Tubes No thats osmium. Os is latin for smell or something like that because it often reacts with oxygen in the air to form osmium tetroxide which stinks and is very toxic.

  • haooooo... selenium *puts back*! lol

  • Why even bother to put subtitles into the video if you can't read them half the time?

  • thanks you guys helped me get an A on my project!!!!!

  • "...and Tellurium is even worse still". Yes, it is when it comes to smell.

  • Selenium, arsenic, hell even radium I'd put on my scalp just to get rid of my dandruff, nothing works D:

  • @XxD1EAN0TH3RD4YxX Have you tried Polonium? Just kidding.

  • @XxD1EAN0TH3RD4YxX Try some cesium. :)

  • with that hair ill bet he uses Pantene.

  • 1 person is nitrogen based.

  • @genericmember1 I love that movie

  • Wait, if selenium conducts electricity when light is shined on it, and it naturally comes in "threads", wouldn't it makes sense as a candidate for smaller computer parts? Is there some characteristic which prohibits this, or makes it impractical?

Would the amount of light needed be too large, or does the signal decay too quickly?

OR, is it being researched for that purpose, and I don't know about it? XD

  • no wonder why there is a shampoo ad to my right!

  • great for killing nitrogen bases lifeforms!!

  • @Legofan78 funny movie.

  • @scorpion779946 Yup!

  • Funny. One of the best and most common examples of selenium application stands right behind Mr. Einstein - Laser Printer!!! With printing drum covered with selenium.

  • I liked the joke about the people getting off the bus when Selenium chemists get on it haha!

  • Selenium is great stuff, it powers my old light meter I use for photography.

  • this helped me much for my science project on selenium. thanks! :)

  • It's used to increase the life of and tone photographs.

  • Can you eat it to make yourself smell? Great prank :D Put in someones soup :D:D:D:D

  • look for tellurium it works WAY better at that.

  • its also used in DVD-RW as selenium subdoxide

  • What's subdoxide?

  • its 3rd on the oxidation states i think

  • I think he meant suboxide

  • 1:55

    Epic!

Would love to be in that bus hahaha.

  • Its used a lot as a toner as well.

  • if head and shoulders use this chemical then no wonder it stings my eyes so much. also, it strips the dye from your hair. but it smells nice and its cheap soo.... :)

  • I don't think head and shoulders uses it, it uses some form of zinc, Selsum Blue is the most popular one that uses selenium I believe

  • I don't think head and shoulders does use it, no. Seledium disulfide's a very strongly orange compund, which turns the shampoo bright orange. It's found in some elvive shampoo (in the UK) which says "Enriched with Selenium S" on the front (S presumably stands for sulfide)

  • it was also used in the first tv camera

  • Did anyone else see a resemblance to lead air gun pellets?

  • Dandruff is caused by a fungus

  • Ah, yes... that is true. You see he pauses after he says "bacteria on the scalp". I think he's uncertain, but just sticks with it to finish the story ;D

  • @hedleypanama, Martyn is a chemist, not a biologist :-)

  • @hedleypanama i thought it was your scalp getting dehydrated?

  • @hedleypanama He's a chemist, not a biologist. ;)

  • Made famous in the "Evolution" Movie, so indeed, it can kill that particular kind of aliens :P

  • Yeah the Evolution movie is useful XD

  • I love Evolution. "Head and Shoudlers, the Dandruff Shampoo!" lol

  • found in head and shoulders lol

  • Kills aliens, too!

  • only silicon based aliens

  • @6pathsofpain good one =)
