  • Dude most models aren't as pretty as they seem, my sister knows several models that without that stuff they look like crap!

  • @XxalleyxcatxX

I'll second that. The model I knew was always complaining about how fat and ugly she was. She brought others down with her opinions and chewed out my friends when it was none of her business. She may have looked like an anorexic Janet Jackson but her personality was ugly and her view on life was distorted.

  • beauty can be taken away in a second and with time it shall fade, so ladies don't listen to this bullshit that tells you you need to look a certain to be worth anything, brains before beauty.

  • They should call it Evolution of "Beauty". Wonder when the women of this culture are going to stop playing dress up and stop caking on the make up like clowns.

  • @bweazel ... and also stop blaming men for this when they actually only oppress themselves and each other with this make up bullshit.

Most men just want a nice hole and a good heart.

  • @gingergiblet Hear, hear.

  • @gingergiblet

    lol 'hole'

  • @gingergiblet ... Nice hole and good heart?

  • I thought thaat she was gorgeous at :38

  • Very sad but true, it is not right and society needs to change

  • this is just sad...

  • my teacher showed my class this today. all the guys were like "eww she is so ugly" and when her transformation was done they were like "oh shit!"

  • she is beautiful

  • Such an eye opener!

  • some comments here are so painfully shallow... i don't know if messages like this can ever get through properly.

  • @lavendye

exactly thought of that, when i read comment below.

  • Why not get a pretty girl to begin with? Surely Dove can hire better than this square-jawed beast...

  • @csmybuttt

    wwtf must be a troll

  • Wow man. Maybe I can beautiful one day too with the help of a trained team of makeup artists and stylists and photoshop? YAY!

  • haha saw it on dr phill

  • Unilever, Dove's parent company, also brought us the Lynx adverts.

  • WinnieCinnabun or whoever the hell you are:

Please shut up? Dude, why don't YOU stfu. You're too unintelligent to even comprehend the point of my comment. Go educate yourself prior to making unsubstantiated insults/comebacks online, please. Nobody likes a moron.

  • Lol at the people taking the troll seriously. You DO realize that people say stuff like that because they ENJOY making people mad on the internet right? Just ignore it, feeding into it is exactly what trolls want you to do. If you ever want to annoy a troll, don't give them attention.

  • UNILEVER OWNS BOTH DOVE AND AXE.

Hmm. What are they trying to say exactly?

  • I had no idea that so many adult women were big children who needed to be told white lies such as "beauty is only skin deep." Physical beauty is real, we don't all have it, grow up and deal with it.

  • Also, does anyone know what song this is?

  • Finally someone is taking a stand to this shit. But honestly, i'm surprised that so many people are fooled by this, and are just so caught up in their own looks. Open your eyes, there is beauty in everything.

  • @123searbear123 and nautyknight: WILL YOU TWO JUST GO MEET IN PERSON AND RANT TO EACH OTHERS FACES INSTEAD OF CLOGGING IP THE COMMENTS BOARD!!!!!!

@ everyone else: Cool vid. Left me with a renewed hatred for comercialism and photoshop, but it was cool. I wonder how they got into the makeup and Photoshop place in the first place, anyway...hmmm.

  • Oh god, this is just why I hate humain kind.

  • Youtube Comments make me laugh wayyy too much.

  • uuuuuugggghhhhh that thing on the billbord isnt a real person!!!!!

  • Arghh nautyknight you are so ignorant!

Do you honestly not understand that this video is made as a protest against the adverts and magazine covers that feature women who do not exist? These adverts show unrealistic images of women, and this puts huge amounts of pressure on young girls and women, due to people like you who percieve this falseness as beauty. What makes you think that you are important enough to instantly judge people based on the way they look? Grow up you superficial idiot.

  • Actually IzzyFrankieHunter, the woman does clearly exist but she was "touched up" to remove her imperfections. Even you posted a video of yourself putting on makeup on your channel which was clearly about removing/masking your own imperfections by using makeup and enhancing the areas where you are perfect to make them stand out more to catch the eye and attention of men. So you're clearly no different than the people who mask and remove the imperfections of women in magazines.

  • Again, physical beauty is only skin deep. If you're going to base a relationship based on how a person looks, then that goes to show how shallow and superfical you really are. True, physical beauty is important, but it's what's on the inside that counts. A person can be beautiful on the outside and but have an ugly personality or lack common scenes. Who cares that maybe a woman is built like a supermodel or that a man is lean muscular. True love comes around once.

  • Oh, don't you give me that horseshit. Do you know how how fucking ignorant you sound asshole. Your probably just mad cause you don't have a girlfriend to show off to your buds. Get over yourself. With that attitude you will remain alone and miserable for the rest of your life. Why the fuck does it matter what size a woman is?! Really. If you're that close minded about the situation then continue to be the miserable douchebag that you are now. Good luck finding a wife or gf lowlife.

  • Because PassionateGoth, FAT is UGLY! It's not attractive at all - and on that note, UGLY is UGLY and no guy wants to be with any UGLY, FAT, or FAT and UGLY bitch period. And before you call guys shallow for judging people on appearance I think you need to take a good long look at your fellow women out there - they judge men too on looks - and as well as they should. Because nobody should have to be paired up with an UGLY FAT douche bag like you and the rest of your feminist clan.

  • You need some serious help, dude. Apperence is not everything. Again, if you cannot keep an open mind about things then fuck off! I hate to break it to you, but no everybody feels the same way you do. YOU ARE SHALLOW!!!!!! Stop hiding from the truth and stop bullshiting yourself. Again, YOU ARE SHALLOW! Not every man feels the same way you do. That's just how YOU feel. Get over yourself. What superficial people are you talking to? FYI, Don't get mad cause I'm telling you off.

  • I'm not the one hiding from the truth - it's you that are hiding from the truth. You think I'm shallow but somewhere inside yourself you know I'm right. Fat and ugly people will always be just that - fat and ugly. Don't expect us who aren't fat or ugly to think so highly of you when you're not willing to do all you can do to look good.. Show me that you can be pretty and lose some fucking pounds and buy some quality makeup. And in your case - lots of fucking makeup.

  • @NautyKnight You ignorant shallow idiot! You obviously need to get a life!! The beuaty dove talks about is the beauty inside us. So SHUT UP and get a life. EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL no matter what!!!!

  • @NautyKnight I didnt say oncee that "Fat, Ugly people" were beutiful. I said everyone is beutiful in the inside. If you dont agree with this get of the dove vids cos this is what dove is about. And i would like to let you know that after dove took normal girls as models they have had an increase in sales by a lot! All women are beutiful in the inside. outside they are themselves not some slutty girls who have to be pulled apart and cut up to look beutiful. Women are people, not objects!!

  • You sicken me! We are not objects we are living things Yes there are many more beutiful women than me But i bet there are better good looking men than you any beutiful girl would not want you in there liffe as specialy as your such an ignorant bastard Women arent made for sex, they are made for life, they have a life they are going to live it! I would like it if you shut you disgusting cake whole and listen to what i am saying its the beauty INSIDE dove talks about, so shuv that in your gob!!!!!

  • @NautyKnight Women are only good for sex? Ok you think what you want i dont care anymore. Men like you are sick!! I wounder what you would do without women. I bet you cant even cook let alone clean and bring up kids!! YOUR A FREAK OF NATURE

  • @NautyKnight Sick sick man!! I hope you die a lonly death! With everyone hating you!! You deserve it!! and if peoplee htink thats harsh read our conversation and you will understand!!

  • @NautyKnight Hmm gut me like a fish.. original, i guess. Anywayys, your a sick littlee boy who needs a life!

  • @NautyKnight If i left it in that long i would get toxic shock. And no worriess i aint on my period at the moment. Thanks for the advise tho, havee a good day messing women around. God i hate you more than hitler!!

  • @NautyKnight Thats okay, i am a nice person, unless they cross my line, the one you jumped over bout 2 days ago. I treat people FAIRLY and i RESPECT everyone unlike some people.

  • @NautyKnight wtf are you talking about i dont hate men i lovee them most of myy matess are boys!! WTF You hate girls so dont go chattingg shit and get a life. and i would rather not commit suiside in my toilet, thanks for the idea tho, If i eva get that depressed i might take that in mind.

  • Distorted? Um, no!

This video just shows me that the uploader has a self-confidence problem with their own image. Probably an ugly girl who is overweight and mad that other women get paid to model for magazines and get the attention of so many men. Jealous much? Get over yourself and stop hating on good looking people who take care of themselves and their health.

Men aren't going to ever start liking fat chicks or ugly chicks so this is just a pointless video.

  • I bet you Live in Orange county or Something.

    SuperFicial Bitch..

Or I bet you Come Out in Porno

  • No, not from Orange county, but I still stand by my answer before. Women NEED to be attractive to men. Men are visually stimulated by what they see so it would behoove women to look their best or get cosmetic surgery if they need it. Women will never get men to like ugliness or sloppiness. When I lived in Italy for 3 years, all the women dressed to impress. They weren't lazy slob bitches like here in the US that walk around in sweatpants and T-shirts. That's too casual and unappealing on women.

  • this is pointless "nobody cares"

You are caught up in pointless shit!

  • Funny....Dove and (the sexy lady/man advertised) AXE are from the same company.

    douches

  • And that's where the problem lies, big corporations. It's not like they give a rat's ass about what happens to the people they exploit.

    Peace,

    Sari

  • So true magazines and media make a woman and man feel inferior. Media is saying this is how you are suppose to look. Media is built is fuck us over, especially people in my generation and younger. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Who cares that a man or woman is built like a model. It's called airbrushing and photoshop. My moto is embrace what God gives you, stop trying to change it.

  • damn photoshop fucked up are lives

  • She's prettier before the transformation... =)

  • come on that's just a lie

    :P

  • Physical beauty is only skin deep. It's what's on the inside that counts.

  • That was sad! Makeup is one thing but changing her whole facial structure was jacked up!

  • Diana Carreiro is the Makeup/Hairstylist for this. She is amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • i want 1

  • wow thats quite comforting, i like it

    :)

  • the essence of real beauty is the persobality not to wore make-up

  • That is good stuff. I love REAL BEAUTY!

  • Thank goodness an organization has finally decided to come down on the fashion industry. As far as I'm concerned, the fashion industry--inclusive of size-2 models, itty-bitty clothing, and the like can go to hell. I suffered with an eating disorder for two years merely because I believed myself "inadequate" due to the bullshit imposed by the media. Thankfully, I came to the realization that emulating fake/fabricated images of 6-foot, 110-pound women was a futile attempt at being "perfect."

  • ur so brave and awesome to overcome that!

  • @brittanyxxx plz shutup.

we all love beautiful men and women.

    no one likes a fag.

    be real.

  • Thats is sad...

I dnt think women have to wear make-up to b beautiful. Make-up hides ur flaws it doesnt get rid of them....

  • Yeah, we did too. And everyone was like, wow she's so ugly. And then she ended up looking so pretty in the final photoshop! And even without the photoshop, with all the make up on, she still looked pretty good to me!

  • yeah true she looked pretty even without photoshop.

  • Comment removed

  • we had to watch this video at school

then we talked about body image and stuff

  • Comment removed

  • cool!!! rock on!

  • I didn't like the end result, she had bug eyes...

  • look at 0:15, then 0:50.

I understand, women wanting to put on makeup and do their hair up to look 'nice'. But to make it worse, they remodel the face, so technically its not even the real model taking part. They could just computerize it

its sad to be honest. i was out today and i saw loads of girls wearing makeup and it was like a snow day I dont wear makeup alot, but i especially wasn't going to wear it, just for boys at a snowball fight?

    its pointless.

  • Majestic..

  • wooow!

  • in a word brillant

  • I thought she looked just fine before all of the retouching :)

  • i want this theme song

  • It's terrible what this world/media has done to make us think that we have to look a certain way. The only reason we buy makeup is because we feel that we have to make ourselves look beautiful, when we're beautiful in the first place just the way we are.

  • it would be interesting to know, what the woman thinks about her picture and what they did with it

  • i love this so much.....although it makes me want to get all my photos retouched! shows that being beautiful in a magazine isn't like being beautiful in real life....no one looks that perfect!

  • I think the girl is equally as beautiful in the beginning as she is at the end - perhaps just in different ways.

  • I love how the Dove Campaign doesn't show you things that aren't real-they show you the things you don't see. Young girls are basing their look on these types of women in magazines and they are all beatuiful without the make-up and lights!

  • everybody think that there are perfect people, but you see, perfect people don't exist.

  • uhm... Zidane11221, I think is Dove the BEAUTY PRODUCTS brand, not the Chocolate's one... and also, the fact that you have NO feelings, does not mean that no one in the world gives a shit about other people's feelings.

  • Beauty is not a set thing, it's different in different cultures. Beauty in the modern world is just a Myth in order for people (not just women) to spend more on beauty industries like cosmetics, surgury, etc. You are a disgusting shollow idiot.

  • you sir

if i may say so myself

are a complete and total asshole

    how dare you??

i hope you get stuck married to a fat whale

  • Every girl is beautiful.

This campaign is by Dove, the beauty styling company - not the chocolates, and their point is that our idea of beauty is so distorted by computers, makeup and lighting. YES, that girl is gorgeous at the end, but just as gorgeous in the beginning. I think they are trying to prove that you don't have to be the world's version of beautiful to BE beautiful.

Hopefully you can realize how shallow and terrible you sound saying that.

  • You shallow peice of crap. I bet you're no 1st prize looker yourself. Get your head out of your ass and get a life. It's YOU that doesn't give a shit about other's feelings. Feeling insecure? I bet you do, that's why you posted this rediculous comment.

  • its fair to say that the only beautiful women are the ones you see out shopping orin clubs, all the others in adverts are photoshopped and dont actually exist as you see them.I saw cameron diaz and helena christensen the other day with no makeup.I doubt i would have recgonised them in the street without their warpaint.makeup on a woman is like xmas wrapping paper on a present, you dont actually know what your getting until its removed. and by then your likely married to em.... ahem nuff said

  • Actually, Dove the beauty and hygiene line is made by a company called Unilever and the chocolate is made by the Mars chocolate company, so the two are linked only in name. You have no idea what you're talking about. The purpose of this campaign is just this, to cause arguements, get people talking about it. Its about self esteem, and this particular ad is about how the media taints our self image.

And if you dislike the campaign so much, why are you watching the video?

  • dove's chocolate brand is a different "dove."

  • plastic surgery!

  • Being a beautiful woman is nice, but it's not all that it's cracked up to be. I don't think it's worth all the starving, cutting, painting etc. That's what I found out when I made my documentary about what it's REALLY like to be a beautiful woman.

  • I didn't know that beautiful women had to cut...

  • f*cking brilliant ad

  • @skinnykrayon. Each bodyshape is individual, there's no such thing as a perfect body image. A naturally skinny person doesn't have the sensuous curves of a more voluptuous person but might be a good runner, for example.

  • also, this girl was gorgeous BEFORE they did all that photoshop stuff to her.

  • this is such a great message!

its true, no one should try to change themselves to impress other people. If you really think about it your not even impressing everyone by being todays view of "beautiful" because to some people that views very silly. hehe. and it is. just love who you already are because you already are beutiful in your own way. And if everyone was the same the world would be very, very boring

  • it dosent even look like the girl anymore! so thats why everyone is so perinoid about being thin! your pretty no matter how thin or fat!

  • Hmmm, that was interesting..and slghtly triggering, 'cause it confused the hell out of my Eating disorder, making it question it's self,...I need to find more stuff like this, make it go crazy. I've been typing in "What is abody supposed to look like" 'cause I have no idea. My thoughts are bony. Thin. I"m trying to prove it wrong...

  • yeah...we're all special perfect individidual snowflakes who full of specialness and beauty....zoom out and wake up

its just a choice between one type of consumerism and another, the latter pretends to be on your (the ugly consumer's) side because there are more ugly people than pretty ones....profit, profit, profit.

beat shallow consumerism by buying our dove products! sigh

  • omg. thisis really great... i mean like ppl go through all this truoble to become more skiny or prettier.... it's not rightt :(

be wild. be true. be you ****

    x♥o♥x natalie :D

  • Im 16 & im so sick of advertising telling me I should be loosing weight.loads of adds seem to have some mention of calories & fat. like special k - its completely targeting women with its stupid cereal thats got to be made of air or something =/

it just really pisses me off

Personally I really wouldnt like to be super skinny. You'd be all thin and bonny

Besides its just fashionable to be skinny at the moment, in the reformation times wasnt it fashionable to be more chubby..? =P

  • and just a message to celtickid1424.. women shouldnt have to discover make-up to feel pretty. they should feel beautfil in the skin they were born in. They shouldnt have to spend money on cosmetics to be considered beautiful, let alone feel beautiful.

  • this comericial sickens me. honestly. the image of "Real beauty" is so disorted, no wonder girls feel pressured to be perfect, but as we were just shown, perfect doesnt exist. perfect is just a computer generated image of pretty. everyone is pretty in their own way, and these modles just make the world worse, espically for teen girls, striving to find who they really are.

  • they need to do one for men too. The world would suck if all the men were fugly and all the women finally learned about make up everyone needs to know by this add with diet exercise and some beauty products everyone can radiate their own natural beauty.

  • I couldn't agree more.

They need to make one for men.

We're plagued just as much as women are.

  • dayum .

    that`s crayzee .

    very interesting .

  • wooooooooooooooooow

    thats insane

  • DO YOU LIKE THE DOVE REAL BEAUTY CAMPAIGN? Well THING AGAIN!

Dove is ONE among many brands under UNILEVER. Some others are Vaseline, Slim Fast, Ponds, Lux, and MOST INTERESTINGLY Fair and Lovely. For those who DO NOT know what Fair and Lovely is a very popular skin 'whitening' product in South Asia.F&L DOES NOT by any means promote real beauty RATHER it helps perpetuate one of the most rascist stereotypes that prevails in Asia in general. WHY DOES UNILEVER MAINTAIN SUCH DOUBLE STANDARDS?

  • Huh, interesting.

  • Asian women should be proud of what they look like. Not all of the caucasian women have white skin, blond hair and blue eyes. In fact they like having dark hair, red hair, brown or black eyes, and usually like to get tanned in the sun. So the asian women should stop trying to become white and blond.

  • At School, we are doing an assignment on how the media and models have an impact on teens.

this is exactly what we need.

no wonder teenaged girls really aren`t happy with themselves.

i mean not even im happy with myself, but i think this has been put into perspective for alot of other teens.

models and celebs really aren`t as perfect as they seem!

  • All these model girls are so fake , no wonder every girl feels too ugly to be a model .

  • omg

  • GORGEOUS!!!

  • ive showed this video to all my friends at school and in my pshe lesson when we were talking about our body images. it really helps to show the extent of airbrushing and how they dont just make your skin clear, but they change the shape and proportions of your face.

    brilliant ad

  • I thought she looked better without the photoshopping.

  • I want the music~

    where, how? hep, thanks :)

  • Oh god! So celebrities are not as perfect as they seem? They usually modify them with computers and cameras or what?

  • thats such a koooool ad...love it

  • oh my goodness :O that was interesting to watch.

  • dang, i'm definitely buying more dove so they can have more money to make the next commercial just like this one!

  • i don't even wear make up cause i thought it was too girly

i tried it once but it didn't look right either way i still feel ugly inside but i don't wanna change for noone

  • you know here's the thing... i don't care about this crap. eventually, this too shall pass. we're in postmodern society now, sooner or later women will not be so objectified. sex sells, and it will always sell, but the pressure on individuals will shrink. also, lets not forget the pressure on men to be beautiful, manly strong, witty, talented, brave, etc... its a two way street.

  • Indeed. The masculine ideal is very strong aswell. So, fuck feminists who ignores men. Gender equality is not only about women, it is about all of us...

  • I think you're missing the point of this ad.

  • since when is beauty rare?

for once the cliche got it right-beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

its the same for guys as it is for girls, we all dont think the same guy is goodlooking, so what makes it right to think that we should conform to the social construct of beautiful when true beauty is so clearly about individuality and celebration of what you look like?

its sick and its wrong, and for once someone in the media has got it right

  • gah, face it! today's world is just cruel. the perception of beauty lies in makeup, revealing clothes and all those pathetic fake beauty philosophies. i lost some of my best friends to all these stupid perceptions, they turn from innocents to sluts!

  • O_O

  • I mean, it all depends on what your definition of beauty is dosen't it?. I mean some people may think beauty is looking good in anything you wear. Some may think it's without any makeup or lipstick. Some may think it's with a whole body of piercings. Who's to say what beauty is, and who's perception of it is distorted? =}

  • O blah!, Nice lie dove.=.=

But, not all girls have to go through all that to look beautiful, some are just as beautiful without any thing, and some are just hurt. And what's wrong with cosmetics making you look beautiful?.

  • Cosmetics didn't make her beautiful, photoshop did. (lol) And yes, some girls are really beautiful, but they are rare, I've only seen one in my whole life, she doesn't wear make up but she looks like she should be in an ad. That's why they use photoshop to make other girls look better for ad's, shortage of naturally beautiful girls.

  • This is all just clever marketing on Dove's part.

Dove is owned by Unilever, which also owns Axe. You know, the deodorant with the commercials where hot girls go insane for guys wearing it? Yeah, this is certainly a company that cares about perceptions of beauty, and worth of women.

Dove isn't doing this for the young girls, it's for their business.

  • That is true but just because a company owns another doesn't mean they have any say in what they do.

7up is owned by Pepsi but that doesn't mean they control them.

  • :O omg that is out-rageious! they change girls to make them look better! well im sorry you cannot have ur perfect girl! you cant tweak us! we are all beautiful..no wonder so many beautiful girls have such low-selfesteem! tats discusting!...to think they want to change us into what we arnt! she was already beautiful ... enough sed..

    ~karianne

    ps.. im not 26...im 13

  • Yeah, shouldn't fix her up, she was already beautiful. Fake beauty looks fake to me so it's not really beautiful. But being a professional photoshop graphic designer, I already knew how they edited all that stuff.

  • wow that was shocking i will never look at stuff like that the same again THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS.

  • Holy shit! Terrible! Absolutely horrible.

Piera! Thanks for all you have done for me.

Words cannot express my love for your talent.

  • I'm going to send this video to every single self-esteem-starved miserable aspiring-model girl that I know. This is disgusting.

  • I certainly recognized the Photoshop feature. I alter models quite often so I know how misleading photos in magazines are. More people do need to watch this video---good post, Xeneri!

  • Hello Piera! It's Sacha

  • I think this video is also encouraging to someone who has dreams in doing modeling because it reinstates thats it less about talent and all business and professionalism.

  • women only want to look good because they are advertising themselves for men. men chose whether which product they should buy its as simple as that. its as easy as purchasing property

  • Not exactly for "men" -its a little broader than that: Attention. They are actually wanting to look good for their own selfish pleasure of wanting attention and the pleasure it gives them. After all, its human nature to want to be heard and seen.

  • for men? oh dream on! girls want to look good 4 everyone. everyone wants to b asthetically pleasing xP

  • Xeneri took the words right out of my mouth, must spread the word!

  • I wish every girl could see this video from the Dove campaign for Real Beauty - no one should try to turn themselves into an unreal image of "beauty". Please pass this video on and spread the word!

  • i got inspired by this add to do my "concour" on real beauty. ps im in french emmersion and every year we have to do a speech in french and we choose a subject and i think real beauty and how we see it is very important
