When I saw it, I asked the guy who was selling the merchandise when it was coming out, and he said that it would come out around when it goes on Broadway. So I'm thinking about a month after it opens? End of May, maybe.

Since it's a really anticipated show for this Season and also estimated to be a big Tony winner/nomination (it'll totally raid it like "Spring Awakening" and "In The Heights" have in past years) so judging on that and the fact it Opens at the end of April (the recording will probably be record first couple weeks of May) so estimated Mid-July but if it sweeps the Tony's as expected then probably it'll be Towards the end of June.

i saw the show a couple of weeks ago in los angeles - fanTASTIC. there are no other words to describe it. i cant WAIT for the soundtrack to come out - dolly parton is a musical GENIUS, and the cast's voices are phenomenal.

I am really happy about Andy though the most, this is gonna be his big BIG break on Broadway originating a role and he gets to have his own song (Unlike in LBTM)!

Saw the opening night last night in LA. It was AMAZING!!! I didn't think it showed of Meg Hilty enough. Stephanie J. Block has a BRILLIANT number in the second act. AND Allison Janney--what she doesn't have in vocals, she more than makes up for in acting and character! You will NOT be disappointed seeing this show!

It'll be his BIG break out I think I mean sure he did Altar Boyz and Saturday Night Fever and Blonde but you know he was replacing in SNF and Altar Boyz was Off-Broadway and in Blonde he never got to really sing and he was more esemble also he never got to truely sing and let his vocal ability be recognized cuz his singing parts were with the company..but in this he's one of the Leads AND he has his own song with Allison Janney ("Let Love Grow"), and I think he could get a Tony nod!

Obviously Megan and SJB sound out of this world amazing. But um...not too fond of Allison Janney's voice.....i think she's a great actress but her voice isn't good for musical theatre IMO. I dunno, I'll judge her when i see her live, and i cant wait till i do!

I think the Broadway performances start on the 24th of March, and Stephanie left Wicked in June, I think on the 15th, Kerry Ellis is playing Elphaba now.

Megan isn't southern, but she does know how to do a southern accent. She had to do one for her role in the musical Vanities back in 2006, and she pulled it off really well. She does it in this musical too. Have to be authentic.

I'm so excited to see this in L.A. But I have a question that maybe someone can answer: How does a preview performance differ from a show after the official opening? Will they stop and break character if they have to?

no, in the previews they don't break character. its not so much a rehersal so much as a pre-screening type of thing. they will put on the show as they have it and they basically want to see how the show works all put together. they get feedback from the previews and then make some changes. usually the changes are minor such as a change in lyric or key, most of the bigger changes happen before the previewing stage. but it varies with each show
