stop comparing my lovely n800's media capabilities to archos. These devices have specific features and highlights that stand alone. One is more of a multimedia device, and the other is a robust internet browser.
Can you watch the youtube video in full screen? Maybe that would smoothen out some of it. Cause the video doesn't seem to be perfectly smooth even after having buffered completely.
Archos 605 WiFi plays youtube videos instantly in full screen and smoothly, and using Texas Instruments chip inside also, but the Archos one is more powerfull.
Yes the n800 can play youtube fullscreen it also has uktube witch is like the thing for youtube on the iphone. Plus in the bbrowser theres ways to change it for smootth playback. Yes im also an archos fan but oncce you get past the outstanding memory and a few other minor things hands down the n800 kicks any archos's a*s.
N800 does not have any comparable Multimedia support to the Archos 5G series. Having to re-encode all videos even using Uktube realtime remote re-encoding software is not anything that is usable for anything more than once or twice. You need to take your multimedia files with you everyday, which thus is impossible with the N800 because it simply is too weak with Multimedia.
Archos does up to HD resolution video now. Instant flash video in full screen from any flash video site.
Archos supports legal video-on-demand and video podcast downloading over WiFi on-the-go and at home on the TV using up to 720p HD component/hdmi/composite tv-output.
If you want some PDA-type maemo apps N800 might be good, but if you want real Multimedia functionality then Archos is the only one that does it. None of these support HSDPA built-in yet (n800 bluetooth synch up is an advantage but not usable enough in my opinion), the first who does combine multimedia, voip and HSDPA+WiFi will win the race.
i dont know why they didnt just put a faster processer in the dam thing, they must have realised it would lead to piss poor performance of flash.

It's still not clear how you get the YouTube video to play through Orb. I have Orb set up but.. how are you running that video through it??
